Minority Report (2002)

For a while now I have had the DVD for the racketeering production the 2002 film "Minority Report" but I am only now just this morning watching it for the first time. I actually didn't want to watch it even now specifically because I really didn't want to pause the DVD, as I have now, to make this official statement about that racketeering production.

I had to pause it in the first few seconds because of the scenes of the guy holding the scissors. Those first scenes are about the jealous husband who is planning to kill his wife when he catches her with another man when she thinks the husband has left for work. Those opening scenes establish that the "Pre-Cog's" have gained some kind of telepathic awareness of the killing and then the hero of the Soviet Union the actor Tom Cruise rushes into action to prevent the killing.

So what that also reminds me of is a coworker who I noticed one day at Microsoft wearing a shirt that had "Runs with scissors" or words to that effect printed on it and I puzzled over that for a while. I knew her best of all the people I worked with at Microsoft and the puzzling part, I think now sitting here writing this paragraph, was not that she wore that shirt, but the puzzling part, it seems, was her subtle reaction to knowing when I read the words printed on her shirt. I knew her very well and we had been out many together riding bicycles and there was just something puzzling about all that.

A similar puzzle was one day when we still worked at the Bellevue office near Seattle and I was sitting outside with all or most of the people I worked with on the team where we each were account managers and technical support providers for companies that wrote software code and she, being a person I had worked with on a previous team, walked up and sat down and lamented on her commercial airline flight and about how she wondered if they had landed or crashed when coming into the airport. I remember how every single person on my team that had been sitting at that table then got up and walked away and the two of us were left sitting there alone.

I remember seeing this film around the time it premiered. I can't recall if I saw it when it premiered though. I might have. I do recall talking about it with people at work but I think that was because someone brought it up and based on my comments I would have seen it already and that was, I guess, the year 2003 when I was talking about it. I remember telling that same guy at some other point in that same Microsoft building that I was faster than he would ever be.
