Stargate: The Ark of Truth

MARRICK
And that's where you're wrong. There are always other options. You're just failing to consider them.

[At one side of the room, a platform is created by the Asgard computer. An object is beamed on top—a replicator. It is active, but behind a shield. Carter and Mitchell stare, shocked.]

CARTER
Obviously, you didn't come up with this on your own. Who wrote this program?

MARRICK
(shrugs and shakes his head)
Does it really matter?

[A guard arrives with an ARG. Mitchell takes it.]

MITCHELL
Thank you.

[Carter moves to the control panel.]

CARTER
The ARG won't penetrate the shield. When I shut it down, don't hesitate and don't miss.

MITCHELL
I won't.

[Mitchell takes careful aim. Carter deactivates the shield. The replicator drops onto the table. Mitchell fires. The blast goes directly through the replicator with no effect. The replicator launches at Mitchell, who dodges out of the way. The replicator hits the deck and immediately takes off through the open doorway to the room. A guard fires his zat and Mitchell shoots the ARG again, both to no avail.]

CARTER
Zats have no effect on them!

MITCHELL
Neither does this thing.

CARTER
(to guards)
You need P-90s. Don't let it get away.

[The guards run out. Mitchell grabs Marrick by the lapels and shoves him up against the bulkhead.]

MITCHELL
Why the hell didn't it work?!

MARRICK
I believe that particular susceptibility was programmed out of this version.

MITCHELL
You slick son of a bitch. Why didn't you tell us?

MARRICK
You obviously had no intention of allowing me to follow through with the plan.

MARRICK
Thanks so much. I can't tell you how exciting it is for me to be working here with you. Actually, I used to do what you do, Colonel, so I know exactly how it feels. I'm sure you know I'm just trying to do my job.

[Landry slams his folder shut.]

LANDRY
(in dismissive tone)
Thank you, Mr. Marrick.

[Marrick glances over and takes the hint to leave.]

MARRICK
General. Colonel.

[He leaves. Mitchell follows him to shut the door to Landry's office and turns back to Landry.]

MITCHELL
He "used to do what I do?" What the hell does that mean? What's his background?

LANDRY
Former CIA, black ops.

MITCHELL
Oh, great. So, the IOA is having one of our own spies spy on us?

LANDRY
(nodding)
I have no doubt the IOA chose him carefully.

MITCHELL
Why do I get the feeling we're gonna miss Woolsey?

ORIGINAL U.S. AIR DATE - 04.30.10

On the other side of the rock fall, Greer is trying to tunnel his way out. Picking up one rock at a time, he passes them back out of his way.

(In his memories, young Ronald is building up a pile of bricks outside his house. Nearby, his father sits in a garden chair and drinks from a bottle of beer. As Greer in the present continues moving rocks out of his way, his younger self carefully collects together all the bricks in the garden and piles them up into a small wall. Some time later he completes the job and turns to his father.)

RONALD: Done.

(His father takes another swig from his bottle and then lowers it, half asleep and very drunk.)

RONALD: Done.

(Reginald hauls himself to his feet and walks over to the pile of bricks. Putting his foot against the wall, he shoves it over. In the present, Greer snarls at the memory. In the past, his father looks down at him straight-faced.

CARTER
If we can't stop it, it will cannibalize this ship and start replicating.

MARRICK
I should hope so. And thanks to you, it's now the only way we have of infecting the Ori fleet.

MITCHELL
And what the hell is the IOA gonna do when the Replicators finish with the Ori fleet, and they decide to take a little trip back through the Supergate?

MARRICK
Precautions to prevent that scenario have been put in place.

CARTER
(scoffs with disbelief)
Self-destruct. You built in some sort of shut-down command into the programming.

[Mitchell finally lets go of Marrick.]

MARRICK
I told you. It wasn't me.

Narrator: It could just be that he was tormented by an imagination as sharp as his wit and as pointed as his dislikes. But as perceived by those attending, this is one explanation that has left the premises with the deceased. Look for it filed under 'M'

WALLACE: I think you got it.

DESTINY. In the Gateroom, Young has opened the Stargate and is on the radio.

YOUNG: Lieutenant Scott, this is Colonel Young, do you read?

(He deactivates the radio and listens for a response for a few seconds, then activates it again.)

YOUNG: Lieutenant Scott, Sergeant Greer, come in.

SCOTT (over radio): This is Scott, sir. (He coughs.) Glad to hear your voice, sir. We are in a bit of a pickle down here.

YOUNG: What's that?

(For the first time we see the extent of the ceiling collapse. The tunnel is completely blocked from top to bottom. Greer is trying to shift some of the stones.)

SCOTT: We are trapped in an underground tunnel. We were exploring the ruins; Sergeant Greer was forced to fire his weapon; uh, the tunnel collapsed on us. No-one is hurt. Eli and Chloe are looking for another way out but if they can't find one we're gonna need help getting out of here, sir.

YOUNG: Why was Sergeant Greer forced to use his weapon?

SCOTT (hesitating for a moment): There was a ... spider, sir. It was approaching Chloe.

YOUNG: A spider.

SCOTT: It was a sizeable spider, sir.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 04/23/10 1:41 PM
My code is definitely going to have to be overhauled. I have been wondering for a while why I would see an association show up later when I should have seen it in an earlier association. The reason is because of how I created the overall process when I was using a smaller set of dates to review. Now that my set of dates has increased to a much larger set there is a time delay in the calculations and I am skipping ahead to another date before the last date finished calculating.
