The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

From 12/25/1968 ( I was Apollo 8 spacecraft astronaut in orbit of Earth's moon ) to 7/23/1973 ( I passed the Multistate Bar Examination ) is: 1671 days

From 7/23/1973 ( I passed the Multistate Bar Examination ) to 2/18/1978 ( I was competitor at first Ironman triathlon ) is: 1671 days

The Ironman World Triathlon Championship or Ironman Triathlon is an annual triathlon race, made famous by its grueling length, race conditions, and sports television coverage.

Held every Fall in the US city of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii the race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometre) ocean swim in Kailua-Kona Bay, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometre) bike ride across the Hawaiian lava desert to Hawi and back), and ending with a 26 7/32 mile (42.195 kilometre) marathon

The idea for the original Ironman Triathlon arose during the awards ceremony for the 1977 Oahu Perimeter Relay (a running race for 5-person teams). Among the participants were numerous representatives of both the Mid-Pacific Road Runners and the Waikiki Swim Club, whose members had long been debating which athletes were more fit, runners or swimmers.

to a local runner who was notorious for his demanding workouts, Collins said, "Whoever finishes first, we'll call him the Iron Man." Each of the racers had their own support crew to supply libations, nutrition, and encouragement during their long journey. Of the fifteen men to start off the in early morning on February 18th, 1978, twelve completed the race.

:31:15
I'll bet that iron guy's strong
and could knock down a whole building.

:31:19
I shouldn't be at all surprised.

:31:21
I'd like to get inside that ship, see how
it works. What do you think makes it go?

:31:26
A highly developed form
of atomic power, I should imagine.

:31:30
I thought that was only for bombs.

:31:32
No. No, it's for lots of other things, too.

:31:35
- Do you think it can go faster than
the F-86? - Yes, I should think so.

:31:39
- About 1,000 miles an hour?
- Maybe 4,000 miles an hour.

:31:42
And outside the Earth's atmosphere,
a good deal faster.

From 3/13/1978 ( U.S. Department of the Army Order 31-3 General Of The Armies of the United States applies to me personally and professionally as Fleet Admiral Thomas Reagan U.S. Navy ) to 3/26/2003 ( premiere UK TV "To Mars by A-Bomb: The Secret History of Project Orion" ) is: 9144 days

9144 = 4572 + 4572

From 7/16/1963 ( my wife ) to 1/21/1976 ( my first landing on planet Mars and my documented and lawful exclusive claim to the territory of planet Mars ) is: 4572 days

The thought occurred to me the other day, yesterday I think, that the primary purpose of the Orion spacecraft was to send me to the outer solar system to destroy or deflect a comet or asteroid that was threatening Earth.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

:40:37
You have faith.

:40:38
It isn't faith that makes good science,
Mr. Klaatu. It's curiosity.

:40:43
Sit down, please.

:40:45
There are several thousand questions
I'd like to ask you.

:40:50
- I'd like to explain something of my
mission. - That was my first question.

:40:54
We know from observation that your planet
has discovered a rudimentary atomic energy.

:41:00
- And that you're experimenting
with rockets. - Yes, that is true.

:41:05
While you were limited to fighting among
yourselves with primitive tanks and aircraft,

:41:10
we were unconcerned.

:41:12
But soon one of your nations
will apply atomic energy to spaceships.

:41:16
That will create a threat
to the peace and security of other planets.

:41:21
That, of course, we cannot tolerate.

:41:23
What exactly is the nature
of your mission, Mr. Klaatu?

:41:26
I came here to warn you
that by threatening danger,

:41:30
your planet faces danger, very grave danger.

:41:34
- I'm prepared, however, to offer a solution.
- Would you care to be more specific?

:41:38
What I have to say
must be said to all concerned.

:41:42
It is too important
to be entrusted to any individual.

:41:51
I gather that your efforts on
the official level were not successful.

:41:55
I come to you as a last resort,
and I confess my patience is wearing thin.
