BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

3X12 - RAPTURE (2)

Original Airdate (SciFi): 21-JAN-2007

Galactica: CIC

Adama: I think the Chief is right. I think the nova does look like the mandala inside of this Temple.

Roslin: Do you think the Thirteenth Tribe had a vision of what was to come?

Chief: I don't know what else it could mean.

Tigh: Maybe they saw another nova, and drew a picture of that. You've seen one nova, you've seen them all.

Gaeta: well, There was another nova. (Spreading out a map): Seen 4,000 years ago, around about when the Temple might have been built. It's 13,000 light years from our present position. It's a cloud of gas known as the Ionian Nebula.

Adama: Maybe it was a road sign... showing the direction that they headed to next.

(Helo recognizes something about the diagram of the Eye.)

“Welcome Home, Jaime”

S1 E01

Production 44415

Original Airdate: January 14, 1976

Summary

Industrialist Carlton Harris has discovered the bionic powers of Jaime Sommers, and arranges several secret "tests" so that he can film her in action. When Oscar realizes what is happening, he arranges a "falling out" with Jaime so that she can go to work for Carlton, who is suspected of selling government secrets. While stealing secrets for Carlton in an effort to gather evidence against him, Jaime befriends the industrialist's son, Donald, a law student who is bothered by his father's illegal activities.

Deconstructed

For years, "Welcome Home, Jaime," has been the subject of much debate and speculation in fan communities. For much of its post-broadcast life it was believed to have aired as originally intended: on Sunday, January 11, 1976 as a Six Million Dollar Man episode.

But research for the Time-LIfe 2010 Six Million Dollar Man - The Complete Collection revealed evidence to the contrary. Vintage promotional recordings and numerous newspaper articles indicate that "Welcome Home, Jaime," was pulled from the Six Million Dollar Man, Sunday night time slot, re-edited with Bionic Woman main/end titles and credits, issued a new production number, and pushed up to make its ABC broadcast debut on Wednesday, January 14, 1976 as the premiere episode of The Bionic Woman.

Thank God, It's Doomsday

"Thank God, It's Doomsday" is the nineteenth episode of The Simpsons' sixteenth season. The episode aired for the first time on May 8, 2005, in the US.

This causes many of Springfield's residents to believe that Homer is right in predicting that at 3:15 p.m. on May 18, the apocalypse will come, and so the believers follow him to the Springfield Mesa to wait for it.

Boomer: I should have known. She's been planning this all alone.

Synopsis for

First Man Into Space (1959)

Commander Charles "Chuck" Prescott [Marshall Thompson] is not so sure that his brother, Lieutenant Dan Prescott [Bill Edwards], is the correct choice for piloting the Y-13 into outer space. Although Captain Ben Richards [Robert Ayres] of the Air Force Space Command says that Dan is the best pilot they have, he bucked the rules when flying Y-12, went into the ionosphere, had problems landing his ship, and then promptly ran to see his girlfriend, Tia Francesca [Marla Landi], before bothering to even make out his report. Still, Capt Richards wants Dan to pilot the Y-13, after he has been throughly checked out and briefed by Doctor Paul von Essen [Carl Jaffe].

Y-13 takes off with Dan at the controls. He climbs and climbs. At 600,000 feet, when he is supposed to level off and begin his descent, he continues to climb, even firing his emergency boost. He climbs to 1,320,000 feet (250 miles) and suddenly loses control of the ship and passes through some meteorite dust, so he is forced to catapult.

The next that is heard about Y-13 is a report to the New Mexico State Police that some Mexican farmer saw a parachute attached to some sort of plane land near his farm on Route 17 about 10 miles south of Alvarado. Chief Wilson [Bill Nagy] has the presence to notify the military in case it has something to do with their recent rocket firing. Wilson meets with Commander Chuck and shows him the wreckage. No way could the pilot have survived the crash. Tests on the recovered aircraft show that the automatic escape mechanism as well as the breaking chute operated perfectly.

List of Battlestar Galactica (reimagining) locations

The reimagined science fiction television series Battlestar Galactica presents various locations, spaceborne and planetary.

Ionian Nebula

The Ionian Nebula is a supernova remnant recorded by the people of Kobol 4000 years ago. The nebula closely resembles the Eye of Jupiter supernova event in the episode "Rapture" that resulted when the star the Algae Planet orbited exploded. Felix Gaeta noted similarities in the remnant patterns and believes the Eye of Jupiter is a marker that points toward the Ionian Nebula; another clue to finding Earth.

A massive battle takes place inside the Nebula between the Battlestar Galactica and 4 Cylon Basestars. 1,700 civilians are killed when the civilian ship Pyxis is destroyed, with Space Park and Astral Queen heavily damaged.

The Ionian Nebula is 13,000 light years from the Algae Planet.

NGC 2440 resembles the Ionian Nebula and is 4000 light-years from Earth.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 07/22/10 6:25 PM
After further examination with Google Streetview, the peak I can see from the corner of 4th Street and Union while looking east in Renton Highlands must be Squak Mountain.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 07/22/10 6:27 PM
West Tiger Mountain should be visible, I guess, if not for the trees.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: July 23 2010

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 07/23/10 1:27 AM
All right. Season 3 down of "Battlestar Galactica." Now just the 20 episodes of Season 4 left to go.

My work I am doing now is basically the same activity. I am trying to find Earth. I was not even aware consciously of such a place when I started this search.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 07/23/10 1:35 AM
When the "Battlestar Galactica" fleet jumps to the "Ionian Nebula" all the ships lose power and are set adrift in space. The "Cylons" ships then jump in and start racing towards the "Galactica" fleet. People on "Galactica" are running around crazy in the dark and the four "Cylons" that are now identified as part of the "The Final Five" are stumbling around like zombies as they are drawn to the same place and where they accept that they are "Cylons."

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 07/23/10 12:30 PM
A dream I had just before waking up earlier this morning seemed to last only a few seconds and then I woke up and got out of bed. In the dream, there was what seemed to be a watertight door that led out of the room where I was onboard a ship. I was left with the sense I was on a civilian ship and that door is consistent because I have never seen a watertight door on a US Navy ship that had so much window glass in it. The window glass was a strip that run at an angle up through maybe the middle third of the watertight door.

I knew it was watertight because when the dream started I turned my head to my right and I saw through the window glass that the ship was flooding. The water was already half-way up the door and it was still rising. Then I looked to my left and I understood that I was in a room full of deep-sea diving equipment. I heard the actuator engage then on a scuba respirator. Then I wondered how deep was the water the ship was in and I am left with the sense that the floor was 106 feet below the ship. I was then going through the pockets of what I guess was a diving suit and I found a reciept in one of the inside pockets. I cannot remember the numbers on that reciept, which seemed to be small cash register reciept, but in the dream I then seemed to hear "Colonel McQueen" speak some kind of dialog and I think it was dialog, which doesn't match what I remember from the television series dialog, about how he wished he had not left some people where they were, and now I have lost that train of thought. Oh, yeah, something about the context. I thought to myself at that point that his dialog was out of context, as though an observation I made about something similar to a preview scene or a series of clips and the clip before that cast a different aspect to the dialog by "McQueen" than one you would understand if watching the full scene. So then at some point, either in the dream, or after I had been awake, I thought to myself that the point was about that plot element from the series finale of "Battlestar Galactica" and as though someone was reading the work product I have conveyed recently on my obversations about that plot element and there seemed to be in my mind a sense of awareness that another person was thinking that they had gained a new sense of awareness about the context of some kind of work that person had contributed to and I am left with the sense that we are still working together to figure this all out. So then as far as the reciept goes, I noticed that the reciept did not have the date stamped on it, and as I write this sentence, I think again about that notion of context and I am not really certain why that is important for any specific reason. There seemed to be a time of day stamped on the reciept but I do not remember what was that detail although I seemed to study that detail in the dream. That line of thought led me, either in the dream or after I had been awake, to associate the cash register reciept with "McQueen" and "supply sergeant." And then that made me think of the Tiger Store in Tiger, WA.

There were two other scenes that seemed connected to this scene in the diving equipment room but those scenes, I am thinking, represent me standing there in that room and visualizing in my mind a conversation with another person and that is probably some kind of process in my mind of trying to think back to that conversation as some kind of reference for guidance. The dream ended with me talking to that other person who seemed to know what was going on, although in reality I think I was still standing there in that diving equipment room on that flooding ship although I did not see that room again, but I do not feel compelled to record those two last scenes of the dream although I do feel a measure of confidence to know that if I have to stay on a ship during a flood then I am glad to know that I have plenty of equipment for surviving while underwater.

Roslin: Sharon's downloading into another body aboard a Cylon ship right now, isn't she?

Helo: She begged me. She begged me to do it. Gods, if you'd... seen the look in her eyes when I --

Adama (not looking at him): She has important information on our defenses. Codes, procedures, the tactical situation down on the planet's surface. The Cylons have access to all of that as well.

Helo (angry): She won't betray us. You know that. It's why you gave her the uniform.

Adama: She may not have a choice. Did you consider that?

Helo (not looking up): She says she could resist, that she wouldn't let it happen. She'll get Hera... and she'll come back.

Roslin: That's quite a leap of faith you've made, there, Captain. And if it involved your family only, I'd say it was brave. But you've put the entire Fleet in jeopardy, are you aware of that?

(He meets her eyes, grinning angrily, and rises, coming closer.)

Helo: If you hadn't lied... and stolen our baby in the first place...
