A few nights ago, I dreamed of being out on a two-lane highway. The pavement was nice and smooth and new-looking, perfect for long-distance bicycling. But in this dream, I was jogging, or maybe walking fast, I'm not sure. It was some kind of competition perhaps. I think the central element of the story was that I was ahead of something or somebody. The only other person I saw was my deceased step-brother. I was moving along the highway and had just climbed up a steep portion of the road that was a switchback section going up a hill. I was at some kind of plateau that then went along under the ridge of the hill. It looked sort of familar, with the uniform tree height telling me that it had probably been logged at one time. My step-brother was acting normal in this dream, as if he was still alive. But he was trying to catch up with me, I guess. I didn't feel like he was chasing me, but yet that seems to be an element of the story. At one point, he was
talking to himself and I could hear him and he mentioned a name but I can't remember now what he said. In the last part, he was approaching a fire on the shoulder of the road that apparently I had started, some kind of camp fire. I recall that there was another person there, but I can't visualize that person, it is more of a presence. Not so much an apparition or anything like that, just an unidentified person. I remember thinking during the last part of the dream as I looked at the fire, which was still in sight, that I could use it to stay warm because I was feeling cold.
Last night or maybe the night before, I had another dream about running. I was on a paved path, but the scenery isn't familar. After awaking, I remember thinking that it felt familar, similar to a section of path outside this homeless shelter, but the scenery isn't the same. There was again a presence in this dream, a presence that represents an unidentified person. In this case, the person was forcing or maybe motivating me to run as hard as I could along the path. I don't know why. Thinking back to that one scene in my mind now, it seems like this was all happening, there was some dialogue occurring, but I couldn't hear any of it. Also, it seemed that there was still more path to travel, but this unknown person decided to let me stop running and I started walking. A convience store was up ahead and I got the suggestion to get some Gatoraide, which I was looking forward to.
Today I have been thinking again about that dream I had right before I left Microsoft. It was the dream about seeing two cloud towers from what seemed to be nuclear explosions. I think about this in terms of a foreign dream. Someone may have suggested something to my sleeping mind about "truman." I may have interpreted it as Harry Truman, who authorized the release of the two atomic bombs in WW2. It was later, when I was in the VA I think, when I started thinking about that movie "Truman." I had never seen it before. I wonder if that was the purpose of the suggestion, to make me think of that movie.

On May 22, 2008 a fire occurred on the ship off the Pacific Coast of South America that burned one sailor and injured 36 others. There were no fatalities on the ship. The Navy defined the incident as 'serious'. According to a statement from Naval Air Forces' public affairs office, the fire broke out in the ship's air-conditioning and refrigeration space and an auxiliary boiler room. The fire spread via a cableway and caused extreme heat in some parts of the ship. It took several hours for the ship's crew to contain and extinguish the fire.

Dykhoff, today due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command and his failure to meet mission requirements and readiness standards.

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet released the below statement surrounding the damage assessment of the USS George Washington (CVN 73) following a fire at sea on Thursday, May 22:
Navy officials have nearly completed a comprehensive damage assessment following the shipboard fire aboard George Washington that occurred on May 22 while at sea. The source of the fire has not yet been determined, but the fire was located in a ventilation intake/exhaust trunk that led from the lower decks of the ship to a ventilation port on the ship's outer hull several decks above. In addition to providing a ventilation path for non-critical machinery components that are located below the ship's waterline, the trunk has numerous piping and cabling runs located within it.
Damage to USS George Washington is primarily electrical in nature with some associated structural and mechanical repairs required. Fire and heat affected electrical cabling and components running through approximately 80 spaces of the more than 3800 total spaces on the carrier. The heat generated by the fire damaged a small portion of interior structural plating which will require either repair or replacement. Piping and related valves that were exposed to heat from the fire have been inspected and will require a minimal amount of repairs. Electrical cables in the vicinity of the intake/exhaust trunk were damaged and will require repair and in some cases, replacement.

On May 22, 2008 a fire occurred on the ship off the Pacific Coast of South America that burned one sailor and injured 36 others. There were no fatalities on the ship. The Navy defined the incident as 'serious'. According to a statement from Naval Air Forces' public affairs office, the fire broke out in the ship's air-conditioning and refrigeration space and an auxiliary boiler room. The fire spread via a cableway and caused extreme heat in some parts of the ship. It took several hours for the ship's crew to contain and extinguish the fire.

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet released the below statement surrounding the damage assessment of the USS George Washington (CVN 73) following a fire at sea on Thursday, May 22:
Navy officials have nearly completed a comprehensive damage assessment following the shipboard fire aboard George Washington that occurred on May 22 while at sea. The source of the fire has not yet been determined, but the fire was located in a ventilation intake/exhaust trunk that led from the lower decks of the ship to a ventilation port on the ship's outer hull several decks above. In addition to providing a ventilation path for non-critical machinery components that are located below the ship's waterline, the trunk has numerous piping and cabling runs located within it.
Damage to USS George Washington is primarily electrical in nature with some associated structural and mechanical repairs required. Fire and heat affected electrical cabling and components running through approximately 80 spaces of the more than 3800 total spaces on the carrier. The heat generated by the fire damaged a small portion of interior structural plating which will require either repair or replacement. Piping and related valves that were exposed to heat from the fire have been inspected and will require a minimal amount of repairs. Electrical cables in the vicinity of the intake/exhaust trunk were damaged and will require repair and in some cases, replacement.

Kirk, Captain Montgomery Scott and Commander Pavel Chekov attend the christening of its successor, the USS Enterprise-B ... On its maiden voyage, the Enterprise receives a distress call from two ships transporting El-Aurian refugees from their homeworld after it was destroyed by the Borg. Captain Harriman debates for a moment, considering the new vessel's diminished capabilities (few vital systems, such as tractor beams, had been installed, as this was something of a test run -- something of a running joke holds that everything will be installed on Tuesday), but decides to respond to the call and help the ships. A few nights ago, I dreamed of being out on a two-lane highway. The pavement was nice and smooth and new-looking, perfect for long-distance bicycling. But in this dream, I was jogging, or maybe walking fast, I'm not sure. It was some kind of competition perhaps. I think the central element of the story was that I was ahead of something or somebody. The only other person I saw was my deceased step-brother. I was moving along the highway and had just climbed up a steep portion of the road that was a switchback section going up a hill. I was at some kind of plateau that then went along under the ridge of the hill. It looked sort of familar, with the uniform tree height telling me that it had probably been logged at one time. My step-brother was acting normal in this dream, as if he was still alive. But he was trying to catch up with me, I guess. I didn't feel like he was chasing me, but yet that seems to be an element of the story. At one point, he was
talking to himself and I could hear him and he mentioned a name but I can't remember now what he said. In the last part, he was approaching a fire on the shoulder of the road that apparently I had started, some kind of camp fire. I recall that there was another person there, but I can't visualize that person, it is more of a presence. Not so much an apparition or anything like that, just an unidentified person. I remember thinking during the last part of the dream as I looked at the fire, which was still in sight, that I could use it to stay warm because I was feeling cold.
Last night or maybe the night before, I had another dream about running. I was on a paved path, but the scenery isn't familar. After awaking, I remember thinking that it felt familar, similar to a section of path outside this homeless shelter, but the scenery isn't the same. There was again a presence in this dream, a presence that represents an unidentified person. In this case, the person was forcing or maybe motivating me to run as hard as I could along the path. I don't know why. Thinking back to that one scene in my mind now, it seems like this was all happening, there was some dialogue occurring, but I couldn't hear any of it. Also, it seemed that there was still more path to travel, but this unknown person decided to let me stop running and I started walking. A convience store was up ahead and I got the suggestion to get some Gatoraide, which I was looking forward to.
Today I have been thinking again about that dream I had right before I left Microsoft. It was the dream about seeing two cloud towers from what seemed to be nuclear explosions. I think about this in terms of a foreign dream. Someone may have suggested something to my sleeping mind about "truman." I may have interpreted it as Harry Truman, who authorized the release of the two atomic bombs in WW2. It was later, when I was in the VA I think, when I started thinking about that movie "Truman." I had never seen it before. I wonder if that was the purpose of the suggestion, to make me think of that movie.

On May 22, 2008 a fire occurred on the ship off the Pacific Coast of South America that burned one sailor and injured 36 others. There were no fatalities on the ship. The Navy defined the incident as 'serious'. According to a statement from Naval Air Forces' public affairs office, the fire broke out in the ship's air-conditioning and refrigeration space and an auxiliary boiler room. The fire spread via a cableway and caused extreme heat in some parts of the ship. It took several hours for the ship's crew to contain and extinguish the fire.

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet released the below statement surrounding the damage assessment of the USS George Washington (CVN 73) following a fire at sea on Thursday, May 22:
Navy officials have nearly completed a comprehensive damage assessment following the shipboard fire aboard George Washington that occurred on May 22 while at sea. The source of the fire has not yet been determined, but the fire was located in a ventilation intake/exhaust trunk that led from the lower decks of the ship to a ventilation port on the ship's outer hull several decks above. In addition to providing a ventilation path for non-critical machinery components that are located below the ship's waterline, the trunk has numerous piping and cabling runs located within it.
Damage to USS George Washington is primarily electrical in nature with some associated structural and mechanical repairs required. Fire and heat affected electrical cabling and components running through approximately 80 spaces of the more than 3800 total spaces on the carrier. The heat generated by the fire damaged a small portion of interior structural plating which will require either repair or replacement. Piping and related valves that were exposed to heat from the fire have been inspected and will require a minimal amount of repairs. Electrical cables in the vicinity of the intake/exhaust trunk were damaged and will require repair and in some cases, replacement.

Justices Hear Celebrity's Bid for Cut of Late Husband's Riches

Anna Nicole Smith had her day in the Supreme Court yesterday. But to the palpable frustration of a media throng, she kept it low key.
Fully clothed in black, the 38-year-old former Playboy Playmate of the Year sat quietly in the back of the courtroom, listening intently to lawyers' arguments before exiting without comment through a side entrance.
Millions know her as the star of her own eponymous reality show on the E! cable channel, as a columnist for the National Enquirer and as a pitchwoman for TrimSpa diet pills.
But her persona yesterday was that of the Widow Marshall, aggrieved spouse of the late Texas oil plutocrat J. Howard Marshall II -- whom she wed in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. He died the following year. According to Anna Nicole, J. Howard intended to give her tens of millions of dollars from his estate, but his plan was fraudulently thwarted by his son, Pierce, who wanted the old man's money for himself. She has been fighting Pierce ever since.
Sober as always as they wrestled with the legal dispute at hand, the justices nevertheless seemed aware of stepping into an epic soap opera of the kind that could have happened only in Texas. The battle between Anna Nicole and Pierce "is quite a story," as Justice Stephen G. Breyer observed.

Ladies and gentlemen, during the past 4 years we have made great progress in rebuilding our national defense and in confronting the challenge of effective defense management. Credit rightly goes to our civilian defense leadership, particularly Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger. It also goes to our men and women in uniform and to the American people for their support in our efforts.
We've accomplished a great deal, and we have much to be proud of, but there's still a great deal left to do. When our administration began its activities, the problem of defense management we knew would be demanding and difficult, almost as difficult as I had getting that sentence out. [Laughter] There were various barriers to efficient management, including legislative barriers, that stubbornly defied our efforts to remove them. And that's why I appointed an individual with unmatched management credentials when I appointed Cap Weinberger. And while overseeing our much-needed buildup of our defensive strength, Cap has done a tremendous job at ferreting out waste and fraud. That's one of the reasons why you hear about it in the news.
But a public misconception has developed from all of this, a misconception born, at least in part, of a drumbeat of propaganda and demagoguery that denies the real accomplishment of these last 4 years. The situation reminds me of the old saying, "Don't clean the skeletons out of the closet. They'll accuse you of murder."

I remember only one scene from my dreams last night. It was of looking down into a paper bag that had a cat in it. I am confused about whether the dream was from the perspective of my eyes or whether I was the cat. Maybe both. I remember the cat was really pissed off. I remember seeing what would seem to be my arm reaching into the bag to pet the cat. I don't know if it occurred during the dream or after I woke up, but I remember thinking how that seemed like a bad idea. I remember a voice saying something about how it just wanted to pet the cat, but I am uncertain whether the voice was saying "I" or "We" to indicate whether it was me talking to the cat or whether the spectators were talking to me, respectively. I awoke with a relevant lyric fragment playing in my head, but I don't remember it now.
