Then I found myself at what seemed to be my own place in the country, the grass was very high. Never seen this place before, but there seems to be something slightly familiar about it. Next image I remember is my Jeep blocking the entrace of my driveway. But the postman has driven around it and is delivering the mail. He has a lot to deliver. At one point, he walks up to the house, or the garage, but I do not talk with him. Before this, I had been walking around the property and there are a lot of other buildings with purposes I don't know but they have a lot of objects, tools and such, cluttered around. I am standing on the porch about to go in and a woman throws open a hatch on the porch and starts climbing up from under the porch. She is carrying a fishing tackle box and something else I don't recognize. She is a scientist or something. She is on some kind of expedition to go out and cause frogs, I think it was, to contract the "mumps." I don't know
why she was doing it, but she said they weren't doing it themselves.

Jeffrey R. Immelt was named Monday to succeed Jack Welch as chairman of General Electric Co. when Welsh steps down at the end of next year.
The selection of Immelt, 44, as the handpicked heir to one of the icons of modern business management ends nearly four years of speculation over Welch's successor. By the time the official announcement was made Monday morning, Immelt had been the favorite for months.
Immelt has been president and chief executive of GE Medical Systems, a $7 billion-a-year division of GE. It was his appointment to that post in 1997 that pushed him to the forefront of the successor race.
Like Welch before him, Immelt is young enough to have an opportunity to reshape one of the world's most successful corporations.
Welch has been chairman since 1981. He has raised GE's profits from just under $1.6 billion a year to $10.7 billion in 1999. During the course of his reign, he has reinvented the giant corporation several times, but never wavered from his insistence that every GE business be either first or second in its industry. Those businesses that couldn't make the grade were sold.
GE is the world's largest corporation in terms of market capitalization. As of Friday, investors valued the company at $490 billion.
In the process of making GE a powerhouse, Welch became the darling of Wall Street, business schools and the business media. Immelt, a second-generation "lifer" at GE, will feel the pressure of their gaze when he takes command.
As successful as Immelt has been at the helm of the medical division, it is unclear how much of his success was due to his management style or Welch's system. GE shareholders will begin to find the answer to that question a year from now.
In the meantime, Immelt will immediately begin serving as president and chairman-elect of the parent company as he waits for Welch's retirement.
