As "Kenneth" is walking out of the tunnel, the guy with the pregnant Russian wife fires off a few bullets at "Kenneth" and narrowly misses him. The bullets ricochet off the tunnel wall near his head.
As I wrote last, that tunnel scene always - always - makes me think of that bicycle tunnel on the Burke-Gilman paved trail that goes around the northern end of Lake Washington, which is a lake that separates Seattle Washington and Bellevue Washington. I must have put over thirty thousand miles on my bicycle on that trail while training for Ironman triathlon and I used it for jogging too.
Comparing that scene in the 10 March 2004 film and racketeering work "Dawn of the Dead" to that tunnel on the Burke-Gilman paved trail, "Kenneth" would have been walking away from the Wayne Public Golf Course and would have been exiting the tunnel on the other side from the Wayne Public Golf Course when the gunfire scene happens. Comparing that detail to the Burke-Gilman trail, I would have been on my way back to Marymoor Park where I always parked my car and started bicycling and jogging from, before I moved into an apartment in downtown Redmond Washington and I was only two blocks away from an entrance to that paved trail.
So looking at the map now, I see those Burke-Gilman paved trail bridges that I remember that are very close to the east end of that tunnel. I always crossed over the Sammamish River on the north bridge, the wooden bridge. The tunnel goes under 96th Avenue NE just about the point where that avenue ends at the major thoroughfare Bothell Way NE. The Wayne Public Golf Course is on the west side of 96th Avenue NE and the south side of Bothell Way NE. The Burke-Gilman paved trail runs between the Wayne Public Golf Course and Bothell Way NE.
All right, so "Kenneth" walks out of that tunnel at a point that reminds me of the east end of that bicycle tunnel on the Burke-Gilman paved trail near the north end of Lake Washington near Seattle Washington.
The one guy fires bullets at him and narrowly misses. The other guy, a lookalike from Microsoft, tells "Kenneth" he does not want to continue traveling in the direction he is going in this 10 March 2004 film that I watched at some point, probably when it premiered in the theatres, in Spokane Valley Washington, at the Spokane Valley Mall, which also has a paved trail running near it but doesn't have any tunnels on it; only large highway overpasses.
"Kenneth" has walked out of what I describe as the east side of that tunnel (no actual direction is established in the film that I am aware of) and he is warned, after being shot at with gunfire, to not continue in the same direction.
On the Burke-Gilman paved trail, if I had traveled out of that bicycle tunnel under 96th Avenue NE and continued east I would have gone down a short but steep hill then I would have made a sharp turn and then crossed over that wooden bridge to the north. Then I would have continued left and on that paved trail AS IT PARALLELS RIVERSIDE DRIVE.
