Good evening. My fellow Americans, ours is a great country with a lot to be proud of. But at this holiday season, everybody knows that all is not well with America, that millions of Americans are hurting, frustrated, disappointed, even angry. In this time of enormous change, our challenge is both political and personal. It involves Government, all right, but it goes way beyond Government, to the very core of what matters most to us. The question is, what are we going to do about it?
Let's start with the economic situation.

On Polito's personal website, in posts that are still available or have since been removed, he refers to himself as "Dr. 160IQ" and boasts about being part of Mensa, the high-IQ society, which requires members to first score in the top 2% of a standardized test.
A Mensa spokesperson said Polito joined in 1980 but let his membership expire this year by not paying his dues.
"He was soaked up in his own aura," Bryant said. "I could see how his need and desire to be more smart than his peers could quickly escalate to an unstable situation."

[Catherine spots a sign that reads: "Symposium Ancient Egypt—THE OLD KINGS and THE IVth DYNASTY, Alameda Room, 2-4 pm." Someone can be heard speaking in the room. She heads in that direction.]
Dr. Daniel Jackson: ...then there are symbols painted everywhere: names, titles of owners, lists of offerings.
INT—ALAMEDA ROOM, HOTEL
[Catherine enters the crowded room. She stands by the doorway, watching the proceedings. Daniel Jackson is giving the lecture.]
DANIEL
Every other architectural structure at the time was covered with detailed hieroglyphics. When is the academic community going to accept the fact the pharoahs of the Fourth Dynasty did not build the great pyramids?
[Many of the audience begin to mutter amongst themselves.]
DANIEL
Look, look - inside the pyramid, the most incredible structure ever erected, there are no writings whatsover. And—
THOMAS
Doctor Jackson, you've left out the fact that Colonel Vyse discovered inscriptions with Khufu's name—
DANIEL
Right...
[Daniel nods, raising a finger and starting to write on his blackboard.]
THOMAS
(continuing)

DANIEL
Well, his discovery was a fraud.
[Outraged mutterings come from amongst the audience. Some start to laugh.]
THOMAS
[ Well I hope you can prove it. ]
HECKLER
Well, who do you think built the pyramids?
[Everyone stays silent, awaiting Daniel's answer.]
DANIEL
I don't have any idea who built them...I mean,
HECKLER
Men from Atlantis? Or Martians perhaps?
[People begin walking out of the room, laughing and scoffing with comments that can be overheard like "what a joke" or "which is the bigger myth?"]
DANIEL
The point is not who built them; the point is when they were built.

Authorities said Polito had applied for multiple jobs within the Nevada higher education system but was denied each time.
He was struggling financially, evident by an eviction notice posted on the front door of the apartment, police said.
He was fatally shot during a confrontation with police.

[The car driver, also standing with an umbrella just outside the door, opens it for Daniel as he approaches.]
KAWALSKI
You're going to be fine. We'll take care of these.
[He takes Daniel's shoulder bag as Daniel cautiously drops his other suitcase and sits in the car. He warily looks at Catherine. She passes over a photograph of a smiling couple playing with a baby.]
CATHERINE
Jackson, are those your parents?
[Daniel glances from her to the photograph, his motion to lower his hood arrested for a moment.]
DANIEL
Foster parents.
[Catherine replaces the photograph and continues to look at the file.]
DANIEL
Wha-what is this all about?
CATHERINE

On December 6, 2023, a shooting occurred at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Three people were killed, and three additional people were wounded. Two of the wounded were police officers. The perpetrator was killed in a shootout with police.
Perpetrator
Anthony Polito (c. 1956 – December 6, 2023) was identified as the shooter.
Polito was very active on social media, with online writings showing an interest in Las Vegas and conspiracy theories. He posted to his personal website conspiracy theories focusing on Powerful Organizations Bent on Global Domination, with the Trilateral Commission being an example of one such organization.

Stephen Wolfram (born 29 August 1959) is a British-American computer scientist, physicist, and businessman. He is known for his work in computer science, mathematics, and in theoretical physics. In 2012, he was named an inaugural fellow of the American Mathematical Society.
As a businessman, he is the founder and CEO of the software company Wolfram Research where he worked as chief designer of Mathematica and the Wolfram Alpha answer engine. His recent work has been on knowledge-based programming, expanding and refining the programming language of Mathematica into what is now called the Wolfram Language.
Both Stephen Wolfram and Christopher Wolfram were involved in helping create the alien language for the film Arrival, for which they used the Wolfram Language.
