I have never seen that Jon Voight film. I don't even know what it is about other than what I read about it. I would have ignored it but there are details that make me wonder about whether the association is intention. I started looking around because, after "Event Horizon" I am thinking strongly that I, as my present self, or at least relative to this present day I write this partial report and post to my world wide web log, which has dubious statistics beyond my control, as I am relying on a suspect organization for the delivery of my report, that I time-travel backwards and meet not only Tom Reagan but my past self sometime in the 1995-timeframe. Tom Reagan already knew about me but there is something about the timeframe of the mid-1990's, and something not to do with 27 June 1994, that makes me think that is the first time me, as my future self meets my past self. Other times I still think that I sit here today and I am that third person I wrote about many times. There is Tom Reagan. The original Kerry Wayne Burgess is a human cloned being of Tom Reagan. And then there is me. I write this now thinking that I wrote the original Kerry Wayne Burgess back into existence because he has a confirmed life to go back to when this is all over, as does Tom Reagan. So as for the life to go back to for those two I am certain. As to who I am specifically, other than I am now certain I am not Tom Reagan, I am very confused. I feel still that I have a purpose and I am going to fulfill my mission and I am not really concerned about my confusion about my real identity. I don't think that really matters at this point. But I must be the original Kerry Burgess. I don't know. I do know that I hate this place. I hate these people around me out here. I know that I am going to finish what I started out to do and to fulfill my mission, and I know that Tom Reagan and the real Kerry Wayne Burgess, who ever that is, are going to make it home. I wrote this paragraph only after making the observation about the Jon Voight film. The other associations I made after writing the last two sentences, including this one, of this paragraph.

Oh, and there's a scar on my left hand that I have been wondering about but I don't feel like writing about. I remember it was after having to walk home through a bad neighborhood. I remember it was a nasty wound, bled a lot, something about nasty bandages. At first I thought it might be a bullet scar, but then I thought maybe someone had jammed a philips screwdriver between my knuckles. But there is no exit scar so I'm not sure what it means. Perhaps what ever did it didn't go down through my hand, rather went into my hand, towards my wrist and didn't exit. The oblong nature of the scar would support that possibility. It doesn't hurt though.
I was thinking about this time my clothes were filthy with salt. I remember that as a time on the Taylor but I am now wondering if it was dust, as in some kind of desert.

The one that caught my attention is listed below, along with the caption on the photo. Can you confirm that the cruiser in the background is actually the Jouett?. I magnified the image and I am quite certain the number on the hull is a '28' and not a '29.' There is a little shadow on the second number that indicates to me that it has the closed lower loop of an eight and a nine wouldn't have that shadow. Or more properly, it is the painted on shadow that produces the effect of raised numbers. I was on the Wainwright during the 1988 Persian Gulf deployment as an FC2 and I thought this might be a good artifact to add to the Wainwright Veteran Association.

That photo was taken the morning after and I was burning off the last shots in the camera before a helicopter flight out.

We had stopped in Bahrain earlier, but we didn't touch ground again until a liberty port on our way back to Charleston. We stopped at Palma Mallorca and it was quite the extreme, going from Bahrain to the topless beaches of Palma. I was certainly also glad to see Charleston again. I saw your name on the credits for that Clooney vampire flick from a few years ago. Sounds like you've done pretty well for yourself.
