SPOKANE, Wash. – A barista shop in Spokane is recovering on Tuesday after it was burglarized overnight.
There was up to $10,000 in damage, according to employees. Photos from after the break in showed a broken window and supplies on the ground
The stand is on N. Nevada St. and the owner said the thieves destroyed equipment and merchandise.
“I feel violated,” employee Natalie Ustimenko said.
The first employee arrived at around 4:45 a.m. and found broken glass, bottles of crushed product, security and power lines cut and the safe ripped from the floor. There were also more than four inches of water throughout the building.
The owner said the thieves got away with a few days’ worth of business cash, but actually caused thousands more in damage. They'll be closed for at least the next several days.
“It just doesn't feel like 'just a robbery,' ” Ustimenko said. “If it was just a robbery, they'd just take the till and run. Or they'd look for money. But to mess with wiring, to rip out all the cables, and throw a 2,000 pound machine on the ground, that's not normal.”
Ustimenko said the thieves left behind footprints and tire tracks but that is all the information on who did it.
They hope to get it open by Friday.
