OPENING CREDITS
INT—SGC BRIEFING ROOM
[Carter enters the briefing room and walks towards O'Neill's office. She pauses as a woman's voice is heard from the office. O'Neill and the woman are standing by the corridor door, then the woman leaves. Carter appears uncomfortable. O'Neill shuts the corridor door, turns to his desk and sees Carter. He beckons her in. Carter grimaces slightly, then walks into the office.]
INT—SGC O'NEILL'S OFFICE
CARTER
Sorry, Sir. I saw you were with someone. I didn't want to interrupt.
O'NEILL
What's up?
CARTER
Who was that?
O'NEILL
Um, Kerry Johnson. CIA.
[O'Neill sits, while Carter stands at the side of the desk.]
CARTER
I've heard the name. Oh, she was heading up the investigation into Goa'uld still at large after the incident with The Trust.
O'NEILL
Yeah.
CARTER
Sir, I wanted to talk to you about…
O'NEILL
Carter.
CARTER
We haven't heard from him in a week.
O'NEILL
Doesn't mean anything.
CARTER
Sir, we know he was captured by Replicators. Chances are he was onboard a replicator ship when it disintegrated.
O'NEILL
All we know for sure is that he's missing.
CARTER
Sooner or later…
O'NEILL
Forget it! I'm not falling for it this time!
CARTER
Falling for it?
O'NEILL
Yeah. How many times have you thought he was gone and then he shows up… in one form or another.

JIM
Hey! Daniel. How's it going?
DANIEL
Do we know each other? I feel like I know you.
JIM
Call me Jim. We ran into each other last time you were ascended.
DANIEL
Ah. Nice to meet you, again.
[They shake hands and Daniel sits between Jim and the woman.]
JIM
Still haven't made up your mind, huh? Death or everlasting enlightenment. I don't really see the choice, myself.
DANIEL
Of course, I don't want to be dead, it's just that…uh. Listen, the reason I came over here was to ask you… why are you talking to me?
JIM
Oh, you mean because these other snobs won't even look at you. I'm different, like Oma.
DANIEL
Really? Because I kind of have the impression that you two don't quite see eye to eye.
JIM
What? That little… that was nothing.
[Jim looks quickly around to make sure that no-one is listening. He moves closer to Daniel.]
JIM
(quietly)
We both operate somewhat outside the normal rules and regulations. Sometimes we disagree on how far outside we should go, that's all.
[They both look at Oma as she steps up to take plates away from the food counter.]
DANIEL
Really?
JIM
Yeah. As long as these other guys don't strike me down, I figure I'm okay.
DANIEL
I guess that's what I'm trying to figure out. I mean, I… I feel like, if I agree to ascend, I'm signing a contract that I don't even know what it says. Obviously, I had a little trouble with the fine print the last time.
JIM
You sure did.
DANIEL
You know about that?
JIM
It's all out there.

Plot Summary
This series was about a somewhat grumpy and uptight banker, Cosmo Topper, and the ghosts which only he could see or hear, George and Marion Kerby. The Kerbys would often try to get Cosmo to loosen up and enjoy life, but more often they would complicate it.

October 1924
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following events occurred in October 1924:
October 11, 1924 (Saturday)
The H. J. Heinz Company celebrated its fifty-fifth birthday with banquets in different American cities. President Calvin Coolidge used the occasion to make a radio address from the White House about business that was carried in 70 cities.
Baseball commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis made his first public response to Ban Johnson's criticisms of his handling of the recent bribery scandal, saying, "Answer Johnson? I don't have to... it has been done by the President of the United States." Calvin Coolidge, who attended three of the games played in Washington, said that "The contests which I witnessed maintained throughout a high degree of skill and every evidence of a high class of sportsmanship that will bring to every observer an increased respect for and confidence in our national game."

Radio Days In The White House: This Week In Tech History
February 22, 1924
Calvin Coolidge delivers the first political speech by a sitting president to be broadcast on the radio. It was carried on five stations, with an estimated five million listeners. As radio broadcasting took off in the early 1920s, Silent Cal (it was said that he could be silent in five languages) used it on many occasions. For example, he also delivered, on December 6, 1923, the first Presidential address to Congress to be broadcast on the radio. And:
On October 11, 1924, President Coolidge used Westinghouse’s short-wave station to make a brief address to thousands of H.J. Heinz employees attending sixty-five banquets across the United States and in Britain. That November, Westinghouse’s short-wave facility at Forest Hills, N.Y., inaugurated a new era in American electoral politics by broadcasting Calvin Coolidge’s final campaign speech on a record twenty-six stations to listeners across the nation. It then broadcast news of Coolidge’s landslide victory in the 1924 presidential election across the United States and the world.

Washington Senators
“As the head of an enterprise which transacts some business and maintains a considerable staff in this town, I have a double satisfaction in welcoming home the victorious Washington baseball team. First, you bring the laurels from one of the hardest-fought contests in the history of the national game. Second, I feel hopeful that, with the happy result now assured, it will be possible for the people of Washington gradually to resume interest in the ordinary concerns of life.
“So long as we could be satisfied with a prompt report of the score by innings a reasonable attention to business was still possible. But when the entire population reached the point of requiring the game to be described play by play, I began to doubt whether the highest efficiency was being promoted. I contemplated action of a vigorously disciplinary character, but the outcome makes it impossible. As a result, we are a somewhat demoralized community — but exceedingly happy over it.”
Welcoming the Washington Senators, 1924 American League pennant winners, October 11, 1924

CALVIN COOLIDGE PRESIDENTIAL FOUNDATION
Quotations – B
Baseball
“We pitch with the pitchers, we go to bat with the batters and we make a home run with the hard hitters. The training, the energy, the intelligence which these men lavish upon their craft ought to be an inspiration in every walk of life. They are a great band, these armored knights of the bat and ball. They are held up to a high standard of honor on the field, which they have seldom betrayed
“While baseball remains our national game, our national tastes will be on a higher level and our ideals on a firmer foundation.”
Washington, D.C., October 11, 1924
“Baseball is our national game. It is peculiarly a local product with the widest popular appeal of any sport. This is because every play can be seen and the game is so easily comprehended that all its fine points can be appreciated. Moreover, while the expense of maintaining a professional team is very great, attendance is so large that admissions remain at popular prices.
“It is natural to enjoy a contest. But the interest is not only from the matching of the skill of the opposing teams. Although the spectators do not touch the ball they nevertheless play a prominent part. Even a championship match with only one beholder would not be baseball. The outdoor air and the relaxation from care are partly the attraction. We go to the game in the hope that with three men on base the batter for our team will drive the ball over the fence so that we can revel in the intoxication of crowd delirium. That is the common touch of nature reaching from the street urchin to the President which lures us all to the ball field.
“While the national sport flourishes we can be sure the race is not growing old.”
Calvin Coolidge Says October 2, 1930

DANIEL
I see. What does this have to do with Oma?
JIM
Goa'ulds are bad. Anubis is as bad as they come.
DANIEL
And?
JIM
And?
DANIEL
And ascension requires that someone be pure of spirit. One must be good to the very core to achieve enlightenment. So how does someone like Anubis ascend?
JIM
Now he's getting it!
DANIEL
Oma helps people ascend but she'd never help somebody like Anubis!
JIM
Maybe not on purpose.
DANIEL
Are you saying he tricked her somehow?
JIM
Rule number one! No lone ascended being shall help a lower, ascend! Lowers are what we call humans and such. If you deserve to be here you should be able to get here on your own. If there's an exception, for whatever reason, a majority vote by the collective can get you in. But Oma thinks she knows better, and she's taken her licks for it. I admit for the most part, she's brought good people onboard, but as the old saying goes, nobody's perfect. Not even us higher beings.
DANIEL
Oma helped Anubis ascend.
[Jim clicks his fingers and points at Daniel. Oma walks up to them, angry.]
OMA
(to Jim)
Get out. Get out, now.
[Jim turns to her, than looks at his watch.]
JIM
Oh, look at the time. Gotta go kid, business to attend to.
