The Stolen Valor Act of 2005 (the Act), signed into law by [ U.S. national traitor George W. Bush ] on December 20, 2006,[1] is a U.S. law that broadens the provisions of previous U.S. law addressing the unauthorized wearing, manufacture or selling of military decorations and medals. It is a federal offense which carries a punishment of prison time and/or a fine; the scope previously covered only the Medal of Honor.
The Act was first introduced into the United States Congress's House of Representatives on July 19, 2005 by Representative John Salazar, a Democrat from Colorado, as H.R. 3352.[2][3] It was introduced into the Senate by Senator Kent Conrad, a Democrat from North Dakota, on November 10, 2005 as S. 1998.[4][5] The Senate version was passed unanimously on September 7, 2006.[5][6] The Senate version then went to the same House Judiciary Committee that held the House version. The Act briefly stalled, but the House subsequently passed the Senate version, S. 1998, on December 6, 2006.
The purpose of the Act is to strengthen the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 704 by broadening its scope and strengthening penalties. Specific new provisions in the Act include: granting more authority to Federal law enforcement officers, extending scope beyond the Medal of Honor, broadening the law to cover false claims whereas previously an overt act had to be committed, covering mailing and shipping of medals, and protecting the reputation and meaning of military heroism medals.
The need for the Act came about because of large numbers of fake military heroes in the United States. For example, as of June 2, 2006 there were only 120 living Medal of Honor recipients, but there were far more known imposters. There are also large numbers of fake Navy SEALS and Army Special Forces, among others.

Tod Leiweke (born January 12, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American sports executive. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Seattle Seahawks National Football League team, owned by Paul Allen; Leiweke also is the CEO of Vulcan Sports and Entertainment (VSE), a management company also owned by Allen which oversees Allen's sports-related properties.

Holmgren will not be fined by NFL

Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren will not be fined by the league for comments he made about the officiating in the Super Bowl.
NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue, speaking at the owners meetings in Orlando, Fla., on Wednesday, said he never mailed a letter to the Seahawks informing Holmgren that he would be fined. The letter had been on the commissioner's desk ready to be sent.
"So I adhered to a rule that I learned long ago that the first draft of a letter is better put in the trash can," the commissioner told The Associated Press.
Holmgren drew the NFL's attention with his comments at a post-Super Bowl rally at Qwest Field.
"We knew it was going to be tough going against the Pittsburgh Steelers," he told the crowd. "I didn't know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well."
The officiating from the game — and Holmgren's response to it — was still a hot topic at the meetings, though it has been almost two months since the Super Bowl.
"It was an unusual game, and I don't think you ever really get over it," Holmgren told the AP. "You think about it for years. It was devastating."

While the event was making the front page of the New York Times 11 times in one month, a good many folks, fearful of the poisonous gases of the comet's tail, were stocking up on "anticomet pills' and running for cover.
This time around, we are also likely to be running--but for our checkbooks.
The comet, a hunk of dusty ice, has been rendezvousing with us every 76 years since before recorded time. It will appear from November of this year to early February of 1986, when it will disappear behind the sun. On February 20, it will reappear, this time with a glowing tail. By early May it will no longer be visible to the naked eye. All that will remain will be an enormous blip on America's sales chart.

Now how can we relive the magic of scarcity?
What if we can create an exclusive line of clothes, chewing gum, laptops…..anything, and promote it as if its an REALLY exclusive item (meaning : once its replenished, it will never be reproduced again), then wouldnt it create a massive buzz and pull? It must. If we knew that no matter how we love it and pay for it, this new line of stuff will never ever be made available again, wouldnt we stand in line and bark for our exclusive peace? Wouldnt we convey the message to our loved ones that get that stuff before it gets finished? It simply must.
Now through that we turn the entire game on its wheel. The brand brings this new line, makes it available to people, draw up a high margin because he is selling exclusive stuff, create this huge mind share and then use that mind share in future to earn more business.
But no matter what, he should never reproduce that EXCLUSIVE product line, because that just kills the magic. What the brand probably should do, is invest in the next big EXCLUSIVE thing.

The media got it fast, got it right
It may not have been the "shock-and-awe" show promised by United States forces poised to invade Iraq.
But to anyone watching television, the swiftness with which yesterday's airstrike in Baghdad was executed, disseminated and explained was a heck of a dress rehearsal.
The White House and news organizations worked in well-oiled tandem. The time elapsed from when the bombing run took place to when anchors were correctly summarizing it — barely a half-hour — gave new meaning to the concept of a fast news cycle.
News that air-raid sirens were sounding over Baghdad broke at 6:37 p.m. Pacific Standard Time and 5:37 a.m. in Iraq.
By 6:41 p.m., CNN's senior Pentagon correspondent Jamie McIntyre had determined that it probably was not. Almost simultaneously, the White House said spokesman Ari Fleischer would make a brief statement.
One minute later — that's five minutes after explosions sounded over Baghdad — Fleischer appeared on camera to announce, "The opening stages of the disarmament of the Iraqi regime have begun" and that the president would speak at 10:15 p.m. (7:15 PST).
