The V-22 Osprey is a joint service, multimission, military tiltrotor aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing capability (STOL). It is designed to perform missions like a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft. The V-22 was developed by Bell Helicopter Textron, which manufactures it in partnership with Boeing Helicopters. The initial operators are the U.S. Marine Corps and United States Air Force. The FAA classifies the Osprey as a model of powered lift aircraft.

The Thing is a 1982 science fiction film directed by John Carpenter, written by Bill Lancaster and stars Kurt Russell. Ostensibly a remake of the 1951 Christian Nyby film The Thing from Another World, Carpenter’s film is more faithful and based on the original novella “Who Goes There?” by John W. Campbell, Jr..[1] The film is about a shape-shifting alien that is revived after being frozen in ice. The alien infiltrates a scientific research station in the Antarctic and kills a Norwegian research team. A nearby American research team investigates the incident and in turn are attacked by the alien.
