before the first new episode of "NCIS" begins at 8 PM Pacific Time. And this makes me remember: I never did care for the "NCIS" television series. I had never watched an episode of it until about 2007 or 2008. I documented here the first episode I watched but I don't recall offhand which one it was without looking it up. That was 2007 or 2008.

However, the clearest evidence seems to be from my conscious awareness of when I started watching the "NCIS" television series. That was something I started watching, I think, as I documented it and without looking it up now, back in 2007. I didn't watch it consistently but I watched a lot of it, especially the past few years.

Back in the year 2003 I wrote a letter on my computer at home and I printed it out on to paper and I put that letter in a stamped envelope for the postal service and I sent that letter through the United States Postal Service. I had the envelope of the letter addressed specifically to the Chief of Operations United States Navy and I referenced a special projects branch I had found on the internet.

I mailed the letter to the Chief of Operations United States Navy and told them I should have received the Silver Star.

I must have dreamed a lot about the Falklands, but I don't remember any of it. It feels as though I was processing a tremendous amount of detail about that experience as I slept.

But what I started thinking about was a girl I knew long ago from Britain but that I think must definitely represent another operation where I was a combatant with the British; probably the First Gulf War. The "memory" is a woman named Briney, although I don't think that is how she spelled her name, or at, that is an important detail about the "memory" but I haven't figured that out yet.

What I have been thinking lately is that my brother's wife (Why are you wearing the white dress uniform of an enlisted US Navy sailor, Thomas?) told me to play dumb when I returned to the real world. I am wondering if I posed for that photograph for a specific reason, since, presumably, I couldn't talk to anybody about anything.

Future's End

I have had the strongest *feeling* since they let me out of the United States Veteran's Affairs hospital in Seattle that July 1989 was some sort of divergence for me. Everything else, other than July 1989, hypothetically, and then the 1990s and 2000s, is a big mystery of my exceptional self.

Here's a new twist on my sleeping dreams.

Don't know what it could mean.

Seems important to write about - because I suspect there are one or two people out there lurking out there somewhere who might know what it could really mean - other than mindless speculation - because it's about the "NCIS" television series.

In the sleeping dream from earlier today, I seemed to be actually watching a new broadcast episode of the "NCIS" television series.

I've written many times before about that television series. I don't even like watching it and I didn't start watching it until it had been on television a few years. I started watching it when I lived at that Vermont place in downtown Seattle near the Space Needle and I've watched most, but not all, of the episodes since then. I stopped watching the "NCIS: Los Angeles" series and I'm pretty sure I've watched all of the "NCIS: New Orleans" television series. Which reminds me of how I bought that camera just before one relevant episode. Something most of you dim-wits can only mindlessly speculate about.

Gerald Ford

XXXVIII President of the United States: 1974 - 1977

170 - Statement on the Death of President Chiang Kai-shek of the Republic of China.

April 5, 1975

I WAS deeply saddened at the death of the President of the Republic of China. Chiang Kai-shek. His passing marks the end of an era in Chinese history.

President Chiang was a man of firm integrity, high courage, and deep political conviction. The last surviving major Allied leader of the Second World War, he will be remembered by people from all walks of life and from every part of the world for his dignity and dedication to principles in which he believed.

Mrs. Ford joins me in behalf of all Americans in expressing our sincere condolences to Madame Chiang, to President Chiang's family, and to his countrymen in this time of sorrow.

NOTE.: Chiang Kai-shek was President of the Republic of China from 1948 until his death in Taipei, Taiwan, on April 5, 1975. The statement was released at Palm Springs, Calif.

Vice President Rockefeller headed the U.S. delegation to the funeral of President Chiang in Taiwan on April 16.

DUCKY: Where did you and Agent Lee go?

JIMMY: I didn’t go anywhere with Agent Lee. I signed Sergeant Wright’s medical records, and then she left.

DUCKY: Did she sprint out of here?

JIMMY: Yeah, she was in a hurry.

DUCKY: Well, evidently so were you! When I looked up from washing my hands, both you and she had disappeared, and Agent Gibbs was standing here. Where did you hurry off to?

JIMMY: The restroom. I…

DUCKY: And you’ve been in there all this time?

JIMMY: I have a … a gastrointestinal challenge.

DUCKY: Oh! Well, I believe there’s a bottle of subsalisate…

JIMMY: I drank that!

DUCKY: What? All of it?

JIMMY: I didn’t want to spend the whole day sitting in the restroom. That won’t hurt me, will it?

DUCKY: Well, no. But you’re going to feel as if you’ve been on bread and water for a week.

JIMMY: Pardon?

DUCKY: Well, the old Naval punishment of bread and water for a week was not to punish by depriving the offending sailor of food, as much as to plug up his gastrointestinal tract.

JIMMY: (LOUDLY) Oh, that is awful! Ah!

DUCKY: Mister Palmer, I’m not deaf.

JIMMY: I’m sorry, Doctor. Just the thought of punishing someone that way just sounds so… uncivilized.

Centauri: (to Alex Rogan:) Doesn't want to be a... Are you a coward?

72 Minus 64 Equals … 6?

Okay, we’ll grant the point: It isn’t always easy being a reporter these days. President Bush’s National Guard record is confusing, and the White House did not make things any easier yesterday when it released fuzzy microfiche images of President Bush’s 30-year-old pay stubs that looked like a wet bar napkin left to dry in the sun.

Still and all, doing a little basic arithmetic shouldn’t be tying the supposed cream of the nation’s press corps in knots. Unfortunately, it is. Thus, the consistent misreporting on the question of exactly how many months early President Bush received his discharge so he could attend Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Mass.

This morning’s New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and Washington Post all ran stories stating that President Bush received permission to leave the National Guard six months early.

On the other hand, today’s Los Angeles Times reports that Bush was discharged eight months early. Moreover, when The Boston Globe originally broke the story in 2000 they reported eight months, and they have held to that number in more recent articles.

So … who’s got it right and who’s got it wrong? In brief, the key dates are:

May 27, 1968: Bush’s application to enlist in the Air National Guard is approved. His commitment is for six years.

July 14, 1968: Bush begins basic training in Texas.

September 18, 1973: Bush is placed on inactive duty after he receives permission to transfer to reserve status.

October 1, 1973: Bush is honorably discharged.

Dan Rather got it right George W. Bush DID go AWOL

byLefty Coaster

I always suspected something like this was the case. The new issue of Texas Monthly delves into the long neglected story of George W. Bush less than stellar military career in the Texas Air National Guard. The Texas Monthly lays out the surprisingly complicated mechanizations that led to the Junior Bush landing this plumb spot in the T.A.N.G.

That George W. got special treatment at a time when draftees were likely to end up slogging through the jungles of Viet Nam shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to anyone who knows how America routinely gives special treatment to the offspring of the 1%. What did come as a surprise was why George W. stopped flying and that he apparently did so with the tacit approval of his commanding officers in TANG, who who viewed Bush's move to Alabama to work on Winton "Red" Blount's campaign for the U.S. Senate as the the Junior Bush's effective departure from their unit and apparently from his 6 year obligation to the National Guard as well.

ABBY: You gotta love fingerprints. Especially this one from the keycard. A pristine index with the almost perfect whorl and three… I mean, count them, three, McGee, equally spaced deltas. Ah… it’s a work of art. Then we have the short and curlies. The hair. There’s no follicle, and no DNA. So I am checking it for drug history. If it is Sergeant Wright’s, considering his extensive medical records, this should read like a drugstore inventory. And if it doesn’t, he ain’t our man.

MCGEE: What price valor?

ABBY: Eighteen bucks. For real. I looked it up on eBay. Bronze Star. Eighteen bucks.

MCGEE: No wonder he got depressed and started living on the streets. And begging. One minute you’re a hero, the next you’re a…

ABBY: Suspect. But don’t give up on him yet, McGee.

DUCKY: I find the ones who fall are the saddest. Such a long last moment to contemplate one’s end. And no chance to change one’s mind. Well, the injuries are consistent with a fall. But scraped knuckles, possibly in a fight before he went over the edge. Missing a shoe, no wallet, although he had some dollars in his pocket. And a begging note asking for help. The only real surprise is this…. a Bronze Star for valor.

GIBBS: And a Purple Heart.

DUCKY: Two Marine Stars, that means he was wounded three times in battle. I can’t tell you why he died, but I can perhaps tell you how he lived. The man was a hero.

Scars

Lately I have also started to understand that scars on my body are not what I remember.

There is the scar on my hand that I used to think was from scraping it on concrete one night when I was drunk and could not drive so I had to go through a bad neighborhood while walking to my apartment 7 miles away from the bar I had been at. I have started thinking that the reality is that I was tortured as a POW and the scar is from someone using a power drill on my hand.

The scar on my right wrist isn't the burn I recieved from someone dropping hot apple pie on it when I was a kid in a day care center, rather...I'm not really sure what it is. I have been thinking it is a shrapnel wound from anti-aircraft artillery. When I think of this I think of two scenes from two movies. One is that scene in "Memphis Belle" where the tomato soup container explodes and they wonder who was hit. The other is the scene in "Air America" where they talk about the "golden BB." I have been thinking lately that Mel Gibson is my older brother. And actually a third movie is from "Mission To Mars" where that one guy has a meteroid go through his hand and I wondered if it is common in space for meteroids to look like ball bearings.

The big scar on my lower left leg is not the bug bite I remember. Rather it is a bullet wound that would seem to have remarkably missed by a fraction of an inch from shattering the bone. Just above that is a diagonal scar that looks like a knife scar. As soon as I thought of that, I remember a memory of someone injured where my mother worked and that the skin had been sliced down the bone of her shin and I remember thinking of how that must have hurt. I think that was actually a deflection mechanism to get me to forget that it was actually my shin that happened to and it was actually from me or someone else using a knife to cut out the bullet.

There are several other scars that I think are bullet wounds and other injuries. I started thinking that a missile exploded near my aircraft one time, shattering the canopy and my helmet and I' not sure why I didn't crash as I must have had at least a concussion. I think another time I was shot in the back with a shotgun but I was wearing a bullet proof vest. I have been wondering too if I was hit in the chest one time when wearing a vest.

I don't know if it will be harder to relive those experiences again than it was to first experience them.

JEANNE: Cold?

TONY: It’s invigorating.

JEANNE: Chilly?

TONY: Freezing.

JEANNE: Oh, poor Tony. I dragged you out here to go window shopping. Next time maybe you should choose.

TONY: Hot tub.

JEANNE: I know something else we can do to stay warm.

TONY: Really?

JEANNE: Mmm.

TONY: I wonder what that could be?

VENDOR: One cappuccino, one latte.

TONY: Coffee?

JEANNE: Mmm. Dancing.

TONY: Dancing? Dancing would make you warm.

JEANNE: Then tonight we dance.

TONY: Tonight.

JEANNE: Don’t tell me you have to work.

TONY: Tonight dancing, tomorrow work.

JEANNE: You don’t seem too happy about that.

TONY: I’m worried.

JEANNE: Worried about what?

TONY: Well, we’re going dancing tonight, and I haven’t got a thing to wear.

JEANNE: Has anyone ever told you you’re an idiot?

TONY: Yeah, my boss, all the time.

JEANNE: Hmm.
