dressing down

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: Sleep journal 4/1/06

In another dream, the day before, last night maybe when I took a nap, I was walking up some stairs. I seemed to be coming up from a subway tunnel. I was wearing a very realistic Batman costume. But I didn't have the cowl covering my head. The costume was heavy or I just felt tired. I walked past someone I knew. I said something to her that reminded me of something I said to someone in that restaurant in 1999 when someone asked me what I did in my personal time. There was someother stuff that happened in the dream. At one point, I responded to a question that had something to do with "vice president" by replying "Sure it is. I was vice president of the National Honor Society." I am not sure what that was supposed to mean. There was also something about "putting our heads together."

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: Re: Sleep journal 4/6/06

Details about my recent sleep are very fuzzy today. Can't remember for sure when I woke up. 3 am maybe. Or maybe shortly after midnight, can't really remember as I usually can. Remember dreaming something about driving my Jeep. Then I returned to it where it was parked in a parking lot after I was traveling through some passageways, hallways in a transit facility maybe. The only part I remember clearly is where a woman, I assume was my imaginary girlfriend asked me out for drinks or something. I told her we needed to keep it really casual though because all I had to wear was sweatpants. Kind of the downside to dating a homeless person I reflect now as I write this. She told me she would wear something with holes in it. I hope that was her in my dream, although the woman in the dream seemed to be someone unfamilar though. But I have noticed that happening with other people I know. They are represented, somehow, by a different person, but I think of them as someone specific. I feel like that is part of the manipulation. I have noticed something similar in real dreams, but I don't think it is the same here. I think they are disquising themselves in my dream for some reason. Anyway, if it really was her, she actually doesn't have to worry about dressing down if we were to go out. Of course, if I have my way, it would be a moot point because why would I want to go out with her when I am in such an ugly situation? At the minimum, I would want to be back to work so that I have regained some independence. And hey, next time you are in my dreams, dear imaginary girlfriend, how about wearing a bikini? Red would be good, or yellow maybe. That would be sweet!

I wonder if this is why Microsoft had Wally Simpson sitting near me all that time:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_II_of_the_United_Kingdom

Although her birth generated public interest, no-one could have predicted that she would become Queen. It was widely assumed that her uncle, the Prince of Wales, would marry and have children in due course. Had Edward stayed on the throne and produced no heirs (which would have been likely due to his wife Wallis Simpson's reproductive issues), Elizabeth would still have not become Queen had her parents ever produced a son; even though younger than Elizabeth, such a son would have had precedence over her, and assumed the throne as King.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 05/17/07 1:40 AM

I remember one time at Microsoft I told Wally Simpson he resembled "Bosley" from the original "Charlie's Angels." He responded with a "where did that come from?" I'm not really sure if he was surprised that I said that. He was the guy I was kidding about having a band degree.

Sergeant Cole

The USS Cole (DDG-67) is named for Sergeant Darrell S. Cole. He was a Medal of honor recipient from World War 2. A few days ago, I made another connection between something that happened to me at Microsoft when I was reading about Sergeant Cole on the USS Cole website. According to the biography, he started off as a Marine Corps Field Musician. That reminded me of Wally Simpson. Wally and I started at Microsoft around the same time in December 1998. He and I and several other new employees traveled to Texas for an indoctrination class on the business division we worked in: Premier Support For Enterprise. Our individual title was Technical Account Manager and we served as customer advocates. One day, probably 1999 because I transfered to Microsoft Premier Support For Developers in 2000, Wally was telling me he had some kind of bachelor's degree in music. I joked about that for a while, referring to it as a "band degree." Now I know why they did that. Maybe he has a music degree or maybe he doesn't, but he told me that because he and Microsoft knew that I had been the Commanding Officer of the USS Cole when it was commissioned on 6/8/96. I used the alias Commander Stewart Bryan to protect my covert activities and those that I had worked with in the past.

Could this be the son of Tina Mason that I was showing how to throw a baseball that time? We were also looking at Hale-Bopp that time outside her apartment in 1997. And why a 41-gun salute after his birth in 1977? I wrote the other day that the B41 might have been the weapon I used on that comet in 1976. If the Queen is my grandmother, that would make him, what, my cousin? I am having trouble thinking that through.

Peter Phillips was born on 15 November 1977 at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington in West London.

His father is Mark Phillips, a former Captain in the Queen's Dragoon Guards. His mother is The Princess Anne, Princess Royal, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

A 41-gun salute was fired at the Tower of London to welcome the baby, who in 1977 was fifth in line to the throne.

Queen Elizabeth does closely resemble my maternal grandmother, Betty, in my memory. When I was at Betty’s funeral in 1999, I couldn’t bring myself to actually view her in the coffin. I told Thedia I didn’t want to remember her that way.

The thought occurred to me yesterday that maybe Vicky Day represents the Victoria Cross. But I don't know. Why her? I never dated her. That was that time on the bus she was running her hand up my leg, but I stopped her. I can't "remember" her father's name i had know him for a long time as Denzil knew him. I think he used to come into Mills Store some times. After Denzil and Thedia divorced, she dated him for a while. Jeannine Bowman said his nickname was Tuffy, but I never heard anyone else call him that. He was a great guy; was really there for Thedia when she needed help. But I don't know why his daughter would somehow represent the Victoria Cross. I don't think that is how it works any way. Those girlfriends were about the operation and not about the medals. That article about the sinking of the Wainwright was a good example for the symbolism to that. He said they flew back to "mom for a hot pump." What I assume that means is they flew back to their assigned ship for fuel, either by landing on the deck where they kept the engine running or they did a HIFR, a helo-in-flight-refueling.

No...wait. Why not Vicky Day, as in that day on the bus? I was an observer.

Victoria Day! That's why Vicky Day. According to the articles, Victoria Day represents Queen Elizabeth's birthday. I guess that Vicky Day, as I wrote earlier, is a general reference to my assignment as an observer of the Falklands War. Perhaps it means I received the Victoria Cross on Victoria Day, which is on or around 5/25. If I did received that medal on that day, I was probably still in the Falklands during that time. Maybe it was trying to save the HMS Sheffield, as I wrote about those "memories" of the water tank and boiler room fire exercises as representative of the Sheffield. I don't know precisely what it all means, but I am certain it has something to do with me in the Falklands War.

What was my jersey number when I played little league? That was before I started playing football. I think it was '10' but not sure. I played for the team in De Queen that was sponsored by the Mountaire chicken plant. I don't remember anyone ever kidding us about that though. I also remember our first game beating the other team that was considered the best to play for. I think they were the Rotary Lions. I used to always get on base because no one could pitch to left-handers and I would either get hit or get walked.

Meeting the queen? Just be yourself

Lacey seemed stumped as he pondered that etiquette minefield for a long moment.

"Maybe it's the mischievous in me, but I think, 'Give it a go!' " he said. "She's been doing this for more than half a century. I think she rather enjoys it these days when taboos get broken and there's something that breaks the mold."

In any event, Lacey said, the consequences of offending the British monarch are not as dire as they once were.

"You're not going to end up in the Tower of London," he said.

Elizabeth Cronin returns to live at home with her mother after losing her money, car, job and husband in her lunch hours.

In her room, she finds a jack-in-the-box, which held her imaginary friend, Drop Dead Fred, captive since she was a child. Unlike Elizabeth who is wholesome, sweet, and innocent, Fred is a troublemaker that often causes problems for Elizabeth. Of course, since Drop Dead Fred is imaginary, Elizabeth is actually the one creating havoc for herself. We learn that Fred exists to serve as an outlet for Elizabeth whose mother was abusive and demanding.

Elizabeth is taken to a psychiatrist (Alycia Lutz), who prescribes drugs to get rid of Fred. Furthermore, she reconciles with her husband, only to find out he's still cheating on her. Right before she takes the last pill to get rid of Fred, in an imaginary sequence, Fred leads her to decide to stop allowing her mother and husband to control her life. She moves out with the jack-in-the-box and begins a new life. Fred tells her that she no longer needs him, and she reluctantly agrees, kissing him goodbye, and he disappears.

The final scene has her talking with a real childhood friend Mickey. His daughter runs nearby them, in trouble for making a mess, which she blames on Drop Dead Fred. Fred is not truly gone; he's moved on to another child (i.e. Mickey's daughter). The daughter sets up a prank with Fred: hanging her nanny from a tree.

From what I can tell, the "Jonny Quest" series started in the months after the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics. I have been thinking I won my first gold medal during that competition, which in turn, led to my involvement in the space program.

I wonder if I really did have blonde hair when I was younger or I am just "remembering" a photo of some other boy that is supposed to represent my youth in my artificial and symbolic memories. I don’t remember what I actually looked like in my youth.

This is the kid that voiced the "Jonny Quest" series in 1986. He was 59.3 months old on 1/21/76, which is the date I recognize that I landed on the planet Mars on my way to intercept the comet. That “Jonny Quest” series was probably re-started in 1986 because I was missing in Africa or maybe it was something I had been working on before I went to Africa in 1986.

Airdate November 17, 2002

"Jurassic Bark" is the second episode of season five of Futurama, airing November 17, 2002. It was nominated for an Emmy Award, and is possibly one of the most moving episodes of the series.

Bender and Fry visit the Natural History Museum exhibit of a 20th century pizza parlor. Fry finds out that it is actually Pannuci's Pizza, the old pizza parlor where Fry used to work. Within the exhibit, Fry finds his old dog, Seymour, fossilized and on display in the exhibit. After a lengthy protest, the museum gives Fry the fossilized dog. Fry starts to treat Seymour like an actual dog, but Bender, however, grows jealous of Fry's nonstop devotion to Seymour. At Planet Express, Farnsworth reveals that he can clone a version of Seymour that Fry knew and loved. In the sub-basement, just before Seymour's cloning process is completed, Bender, in a jealous rage, throws Seymour's fossilized body into the lava pit in the sub-basement. Farnsworth reveals that because Seymour's fossil was enclosed in dolomite, he might survive the hot lava. Bender, feeling remorseful and being 40% dolomite, decides to go after the dolomite dog. After a long while, Bender resurfaces with Seymour intact. While cloning Seymour the second time, Farnsworth reveals that Seymour was 15 years old when he died, leading Fry to think that Seymour must have lived a full life and likely even forgotten about Fry after he was frozen. Fry destroys the machine and leaves Seymour fossilized.

Throughout the show, flashbacks are shown revealing how Fry and Seymour met, how they acted together and how Seymour lived after Fry was frozen. The final scene in the episode shows that Fry had been wrong about Seymour---since Fry's last command to Seymour had been to "wait for Fry" in front of the pizzeria, Seymour had spent the majority of his life there, being cared for by Mr. Panucci and continously waiting outside of Panuccis daily for Fry to return, before dying 12 years later.

The last part of the episode where Seymour is waiting outside on the sidewalk was originally set to the theme of 2001: A Space Odyssey, but it was exchanged with the song "I Will Wait For You" from The Umbrellas of Cherbourg as sung by Connie Francis, which writer Eric Kaplan's grandparents sang and played on the piano while he was a child.

When Fry is dancing on the sidewalk, a person in the crowd resembles Fry's girlfriend, Michelle.

Connie Francis was 59 years, 3 months, 3 days, old, on 3/15/1998. That is the date I calculated as when I said goodbye to my wife until I return from this deployment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connie_Francis

Connie Francis (born December 12, 1938 in Newark, New Jersey) is an American pop singer best known for international hit songs such as "Who's Sorry Now?", "Where The Boys Are", and "Everybody's Somebody's Fool".

The ending song in the animated series Futurama episode "Jurassic Bark" is 'I Will Wait for You' sung by Connie Francis.
