Jocelyn Gordon Whitehead (died 1954) is the man who sucker-punched magician Harry Houdini in the stomach on October 22, 1926.
Contrary to popular belief, appendicitis and not the punch was the likely cause of Houdini's death -- although the pain inflicted by the blows may have masked the pain of the appendicitis, preventing the performer from seeking treatment until nine days later.
At the time of this incident, Whitehead had been a McGill University student in Montreal. Despite the fact that there were witnesses to the event, Whitehead was never arrested. He himself had to submit an affidavit to the New York Life Insurance Company, who needed proof of the incident in order for Houdini's widow, Bess Houdini, to collect money under the double indemnity clause.
Author Don Bell rewrites Houdini history by discovering that the magician was attacked (or at least "tested") three separate times during that fateful week in Montreal. A native of Montreal, Bell finds independent eyewitnesses to each of these other, non-lethal "punches" who readily corroborate the facts. It's a stunning discovery, however there is no clear evidence to support that allegation. Bell's hypothesis is that Whitehead may have been acting as an agent for spiritualists. Considering Houdini's vehement anti-spiritualist crusade and stand, this is not a far-fetched theory.
Whitehead remained obscure, until writer Don Bell began his own investigation into Houdini's death. His findings were published in the 2004 book "The Man Who Killed Houdini" (Véhicule Press, Montreal), in which the only known photograph of Whitehead exists. Through interviews with people who knew Whitehead, Bell established that Whitehead lived a life of failure and pathos, despite having attended the prestigious McGill University. Whitehead died of malnutrition in 1954. He is buried in the Mount Royal Cemetery in Montreal.
I was poisoned some time shortly after this. Probably in May 2005, around the time I became homeless. I also heard some suspicious comments from his wife on the news. After I was poisoned and was trying to get treatment at the VA hospital, the doctor made certain to make a humorous comment about my condition for the hidden cameras that would have been especially humorous to the insurgents after I died from being poisoned.

Ronald Whitehead backed out of his Des Moines garage early yesterday and was heading to Bellevue, where he worked with Boeing's computer systems.
Less than three miles from his home, he was found shot to death, his body pushed from his car and left in the middle of an intersection by an apparent carjacker in what police are characterizing as a random crime.

Microsoft mystery device is like iPod, and then some

A video of a mystery device from Microsoft Corp. was discovered online over the weekend -- fueling new speculation about the company's plans in a market dominated by Apple Computer's iPod.
The video was discovered on the Web site of film production firm DigitalKitchen LLC, of which Microsoft is a client. The video refers to the device as "Origami." That's the same name as a Microsoft marketing site, OrigamiProject.com, that last week began hinting at an upcoming product announcement.
In a statement, Microsoft acknowledged that the video generally reflects "a concept we've been working on with partners." The company, which declined to identify the partners, said it would be able to share more details "in the coming weeks."

I wonder if the assassination attempt on President Reagan was what led to the Osriak strike. I assume that I was ordered to lead the strike on 6/7/1981 and I didn't want to do it that day. I have this artificial and symbolic memory of when I was sitting in the auditorium during the 11th grade and they called out my name as the winner of the American Legion award. My step-brother, Michael, told me he had been looking right at me as they called out my name and he observed a startled look on my face. I assume, in reality, I was startled to hear that we were going to strike Iraq on 6/7/1981 and I thought that was a very bad day to go in there.
Contributing to all that was how 3/30/1981 was 3.95 years after 4/14/1977. We had probably noted by then that the Tehran embassy had been taken over on a day that was 35 months, 9 days, after I left the Jupiter moon Callisto, so that would have meant something. That hostage crisis had ended only a few weeks before President Reagan was shot by Hinckley.
President Reagan assumed office on 1/20/1981 and the assassination attempt was on 3/30/1981, which is precisely the mid-point between when he took office and the 6/7/1981 strike on Osirak.

The attempt to rescue our people being held hostage in Iran was called Operation Eagle Claw and occurred on the date 4/24/1980 and 4/25/1980, according to information the internet. The first Gulf of Sidra incident, August 19, 1981, was an incident in which two Libyan Sukhoi Su-22 Fitter fighter jets engaged two US F-14 Tomcats off of the Libyan coast.
On the morning of the 19th, two VF-41 Black Aces F-14As, Fast Eagle 102 (CDR "Hank" Kleeman/LT "DJ" Venlet) and Fast Eagle 107 (LT "Music" Muczynski/LTJG "Amos" Anderson), were flying combat air patrol to cover aircraft engaged in a missile exercise. An E-2A Hawkeye gained radar contact with two Sukhoi Su-22 'Fitters' which had left Okba Ben Nafi Air Base near Tripoli. The Fitters were heading towards the Tomcats and the lead Fitter fired an AA-2 Atoll short range heat seeking missile at the Tomcats. The Tomcats evaded and were cleared to return fire.
I am quite certain that this guy, as well as Rudy Guliani, are active members of the insurrection against the United States of America.

The school is located in Jefferson County, Colorado (near Denver and Littleton), U.S.. On Tuesday, April 20, 1999, the two launched a rampage, killing 12 classmates and one teacher. Both Harris, 18 years old, and Klebold, 17, committed suicide after the killings.

The theme to the flight STS-51-L seemed to be to connect Christa McAuliffe to my graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy. That would seem to be an apt connection considering that she was a teacher. There is also the connection to Apollo 17, which I believe is to reflect that she was 17 years old during my first year of college, which I started at the age of 6.5 years. McAuliffe turned 17 years old on 9/2/1965, the day I recognize as my first day at Princeton University. The name of the Apollo 17 lunar module was Challenger.

Bush and Gore play for laughs
As the US presidential election race enters its final weeks, both major party candidates have been attempting to play up their lighter sides.
As part of a gag-laden appearance on the David Letterman show, Republican hopeful George W Bush unveiled a fantasy "to do" list if he is elected to the White House.
This included stocking the library with plenty of large-print books, a self-deprecating reference to his alleged illiteracy, and giving the Oval office "a good scrub" - a thinly veiled allusion to the Monica Lewinsky affair.

I think that crash, if it really did happen, was featured in the beginning of the “Lost” television series, as well as the recent release of the “Superman” movie. According to the thoughts I have about all that, though, I was the only survivor of the crash. So anyway, this story about Bill Clinton’s alleged improper conduct with Monica Lewinsky was breaking right around the point 3.59 years after I think I crashed in that L-1011 and was the only survivor.
I doubt the cigar and the blue dress - as they are elements from Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode songs - are a coincidence. There are also U.S. Navy uniforms that are referred to as 'dress blues.'

I calculate that 33 months, 17.7 days can be expressed as 33.59 months, so his birthday is only about 1 day off as I count either 17 or 18 days as 0.59 month.

According to a recent report in Newsweek, the Pentagon may send special forces teams to the Middle East to train, advise, and support handpicked Iraqi soldiers in counterinsurgency techniques. If the United States pursues this plan, our commandos will presumably advise the Iraqis about the finer points of stealth warfare—including what to wear. Which raises one question: Do our commandos really go commando?

It took 18 years for MTV to air 1 million videos. How long will the next million take? We do the math.

It's beyond clich to point out that MTV, the Music Television Network, doesn't play many music videos anymore. Instead, the lineup is filled with reality-based shows, like the marquee series "The Real World," and fictional programs, like the animated "Daria." That said, it's still seemed a little shocking that on Saturday the network actually made it to its millionth video.
Now, let's do the math in reverse, starting with that million mark. Most of the reality shows and other programs have choked the station for less than one-half of the total years. We'll say that two-thirds of those million videos aired in the first nine years. That means that 333,334 aired over the last nine.
Just think, in about 30 years, MTV can celebrate its 2 millionth video. I wonder what they'll play.
