The Iran hostage crisis was a diplomatic crisis between Iran and the United States that was triggered by a group of militant university students who took over the American diplomatic mission in Tehran, Iran on November 4, 1979. The students were supported by Iran's post-revolutionary regime that was in the midst of solidifying power. The students objected to U.S. influence in Iran and its support of the recently fallen Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. They held 63 U.S. diplomats and three other U.S. citizens hostage until January 20, 1981. Of those captured, 52 were held hostage until the conclusion of the crisis 444 days later.[1]

The ordeal reached its lowest point when the United States military attempted rescue operation on April 24, 1980. The failure of so-called Operation Eagle Claw resulted in the deaths of five USAF Airmen and three U.S. Marines. Notably, some political analysts believe the crisis was the primary reason for U.S. President Jimmy Carter's defeat in the U.S. Presidential Election of 1980.[2]

The crisis ended with the signing of the Algiers Accords in Algeria on January 19, 1981. The hostages were formally released into United States custody the following day. The release took place just minutes after Ronald Reagan was officially sworn in as president of the United States.

The first Gulf of Sidra incident, August 19, 1981, was an incident in which two Libyan Sukhoi Su-22 Fitter fighter jets engaged two US F-14 Tomcats off of the Libyan coast.

On the morning of the 19th, two VF-41 Black Aces F-14As, Fast Eagle 102 (CDR "Hank" Kleeman/LT "DJ" Venlet) and Fast Eagle 107 (LT "Music" Muczynski/LTJG "Amos" Anderson), were flying combat air patrol to cover aircraft engaged in a missile exercise. An E-2A Hawkeye gained radar contact with two Sukhoi Su-22 'Fitters' which had left Okba Ben Nafi Air Base near Tripoli. The Fitters were heading towards the Tomcats and the lead Fitter fired an AA-2 Atoll short range heat seeking missile at the Tomcats. The Tomcats evaded and were cleared to return fire.

Muczynski engaged the lead Fitter and shot it down with an AIM-9 Sidewinder missile. Kleeman engaged the wingman and shot it down with another Sidewinder. The official United States Navy report states that both Libyan pilots ejected and were safely recovered.

Date April 24, 1980 - April 25, 1980

Location Tehran, Iran

Result Unsuccessful hostage extraction; mission aborted

Operation Eagle Claw (or Operation Evening Light) was a United States military operation to rescue the 53 hostages from the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran on April 24, 1980. The operation was a failure, and had a severe impact on U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s reelection prospects; on a military level, it led to the creation of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and the U.S. Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (“The Night Stalkers”).

The hostages were eventually released after extensive diplomatic negotiations on January 20, 1981, Carter's last day in office, after 444 days of captivity. Though Carter was determined to ensure the release under his administration, the release did not occur until immediately after Reagan had taken the oath of office.

George W. Bush, based on information I found on the internet, was 33 years, 3 months, 4 weeks, 1 day, old on 11/4/1979, the day the Tehran embassy hostage crisis began. I believe I was not only part of Operation Eagle Claw, in 1980, along with other activities to get them out, but I was also the pilot of the aircraft that brought the former hostage/POW's home in 1981. Linda Tripp (11/24/1949), of the Monica Lewinsky fame, was 359.3 months old on 11/4/1979. Monica Lewinsky (7/23/1973) was allegedly - and I believe she was lying about the whole affair - involved in a sexual relationship with President Clinton beginning in November 1995, according to sources on the internet. That was just about the time I went into Microsoft the first time to establish probable cause. On the day of Bill Gates 40th birthday, 10/28/1995, Monica Lewinsky was 8132 days old. I was 8132 days old on 6/7/1981, the date of the strike on the unfinished nuclear reactor near Baghdad. Her relationship with President allegedly began a few weeks after that point when she was 8132 days old and I believe Bill Gates sent her in to set him up because law enforcement was investigating insurrectionist activity sponsored by Microsoft Corporation. I believe Bill Gates recruited her for that criminal endeavor because she had been 35 months, 9 days, old on 7/2/1976, and that particular historical but secret detail is what got her into the White House.

The U.S. embassy in Tehran was overrun 35 months, 9 days, after 11/26/1976. I recognize the date 11/26/1976 as when I landed on the Jupiter moon Callisto. I was fortunate to find water ice there which I converted to oxygen in time to replenish my supply before it ran out. I returned to Earth on 4/14/1977 after successfully diverting the comet.
