E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is a 1982 science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Henry Thomas, Drew Barrymore, Dee Wallace and Peter Coyote. It tells the story of Elliott (Thomas), a lonely boy who befriends a benign alien dubbed E.T., that is stranded on Earth. He forms a mental, physical and emotional connection with E.T. and helps the alien find its way home, keeping it out of the government's sight.

I recognize the date 1/22/1976 as my first full day on the surface of the planet Mars. The actor who portrays “Elliott,” who finds the “E.T.” creature in that movie, was born 4573 days after I was born. This actor portrayed "Capt. Troy," who as I recall, was the son of the character "Apollo" from the original series. McCord was 33 years, 3 months, 4 weeks, old on 1/23/1976. I recognize the date 1/21/1976 as when I first landed on the planet Mars and 1/23/1976 was the day I left Mars for the outer solar system. My next stop was the Saturn moon Phoebe and then the comet on 7/2/1976. And who can forget his work with the "Adam-12" television series. I loved that show. But I definitely have not seen it in the past 10 years. I think of that episode where his partner wrecked his patrol car off the side of the road and his radio was damaged but I think he was able to communicate by Morse code on the police radio, which led to someone finding him, as he was trapped in the wrecked police car.

President Ford presented 4 Medals of Honor on 3/4/1976. One was Admiral Stockdale. Another was Thomas R. Norris. The third one was Lance Sijan. This represents something of a death march that started for me after I left Mars as I was heading to the Saturn moon Phoebe for a landing before I intercepted the comet on 7/2/1976. I hit some kind of meteor storm that caused a lot of damage to my Project Orion space ship and I wouldn't have enough oxygen to return to Earth if I continued on my mission as planned. I made the choice to continue to the comet instead of returning to Earth for repairs, which turned out to be the best decision any Earthling has probably ever made.

176 - Remarks on Awarding the Congressional Medal of Honor to Four Members of the Armed Forces.

March 4th, 1976

We are gathered here today to honor four Americans for exceptional military gallantry in the service of our Nation. All four of these men distinguished themselves above and beyond the call of duty. I deeply regret that one of the awards, to the late Captain Lance P. Sijan, of the United States Air Force, is posthumous. The other three, Rear Admiral James P. Stockdale, United States Navy; Colonel George E. Day, United States Air Force; and Lieutenant Thomas R. Norris, United States Naval Reserve, are here with us today.

This is an additional observation I made about the Medal of Honor ceremony dated 3/4/1976 that I think is relevant to me. I find it curious the relationship of these dates I recently found on the internet. The first relationship points to my visit to the planet Mars on 1/21/1976. The second set of dates points to my next stop, which was the Saturn moon Phoebe. The ceremony where U.S. Air Force Captain Lance Sijan was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor was in between my visits to the planet Mars and the Saturn moon Phoebe.

USS Bataan (LHD 5)

Commissioned: September 20, 1997

About the Ship’s Name, about the heroic Defense of the Bataan Peninsula:

Just ten short hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941, Japanese planes again surprised US forces with an attack on Clark Field, the main US air base on the Philippine island of Luzon. Subsequent Japanese landings on Luzon took place on December 10th and 12th, and on December 22, after two weeks of diversionary tactics, a large Japanese invasion force landed at Lingayen Gulf. Japanese General Masaharu Homma, with a contingent of 80 ships and 43,000 troops, waded ashore through both a typhoon and the resistance of US trained Philippine reservists. Homma landed tanks and artillery later that day and began advancing south toward Manila despite the valiant resistance of Major General Jonathan Wainwright's Philippine Scouts.

The USS Wainwright CG-28 that I “remember” being assigned to in my artificial and symbolic was not a namesake for the General Wainwright of that reference for the USS Bataan LHD-5, but it is curious to note the relationship with 4/14/1977:

They call this guy "Ray" in "Mission To Mars." He was 2359 weeks old on 3/3/1976. As I watching this movie again this morning, I noted he was called "Ray" by Cheadle, who was on Mars and he was singing a birthday greeting to another character. I also remember that cheadle is saying something about how Gary Sinise would be standing there with an expression on his face as though he doesn't really understand what is going on, or something like that, was the impression I got when I watched this movie again on television recently. I recognize the date 1/21/1976 as when I first landed on the planet Mars and 1/23/1976 as when I left Mars for Saturn. Paula Julie Abdul (born June 19, 1962) is an American television personality, jewelry designer, multi-platinum Grammy-winning singer, and Emmy Award-winning choreographer. In the 1980s, Abdul rose from being a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers NBA basketball team to being a sought-after choreographer at the height of the music video era, then to being a Pop-R&B singer with a string of hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s. According to Abdul, she has sold over 53 million records to date.[1] After her initial period of success, she suffered a series of reverses in her professional and personal life, until she found renewed fame and success in the 2000s as a judge on the highly rated television series American Idol.

Abdul began dance lessons around the age of eight and showed a natural talent for it. She attended Van Nuys High School where she was on the cheerleading squad, and was an honors student. At 15, she received a scholarship to a dance camp near Palm Springs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Luck_of_the_Fryrish

"The Luck of the Fryrish" is the 4th episode in season 3 of Futurama. It originally aired in North America on March 11, 2001. Along with "Jurassic Bark", "The Sting", and "Time Keeps on Slippin'", it is considered one of the most emotionally-charged and moving episodes of the series.

While walking back to the surface access ladder, they happen across a statue that appears to be of Yancy, with the seven-leaf clover in his lapel. Even more disturbing to Fry is the inscription: “Philip J. Fry—First person on Mars”, indicating that Yancy not only stole Fry’s dream, but also his name.

Professor Farnsworth pulls up a biographical movie about “Philip J. Fry,” where the crew learns that after “Yancy” took the clover, he went on to be a millionaire rock star astronaut, and is now buried in Orbiting Meadows National Cemetery with the seven-leaf clover.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_secondary_characters_from_Futurama

Philip J. Fry II (deceased) – Nephew and namesake of Philip J. Fry, Philip J. Fry II owned the seven-leaf clover found by his uncle/great-grandfather in the 1980s. The clover ensured that he was the luckiest man in history. His achievements included a string of top ten hits with his band Leaf 7, a fling with an Icelandic singer-supermodel, and striking oil in the bathroom of the mansion that he won in the lottery. The achievement he’s most famous for, though, is being the first man on Mars. Philip Fry II was named in honor of Fry; based on his accomplishments, his personality seems to be very much like his namesake, however he looks identical to Yancy, his father. This led Fry, finding information about Philip Fry II, to believe Yancy had usurped his identity after he was frozen. Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Fry's great-great-great-...-great-nephew/grandson, is presumably a direct descendant of Philip J. Fry II, since Fry's only sibling was Yancy, and as far as is known Philip J. Fry II was Yancy's only child.

JUPITER'S MOON CALLISTO MAY HIDE SALTY OCEAN

Jupiter's second largest moon, Callisto, may have a liquid ocean tucked under its icy, cratered crust, according to scientists studying data gathered by NASA's Galileo spacecraft.

The Galileo findings, to be published in the Oct. 22 issue of the journal Nature, reveal similarities between Callisto and another of Jupiter's moons, Europa, which has already displayed strong evidence of a subsurface ocean.

"Until now, we thought Callisto was a dead and boring moon, just a hunk of rock and ice," said Dr. Margaret Kivelson, space physics professor at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and principal investigator for Galileo's magnetometer instrument, which measures magnetic fields around Jupiter and its moons. "The new data certainly suggest that something is hidden below Callisto's surface, and that something may very well be a salty ocean."

NEW JUPITER FINDINGS: OXYGEN AT CALLISTO'S SURFACE, SULFUR DIOXIDE SOURCES AT IO

New data from a University of Colorado at Boulder instrument on board the Galileo spacecraft now at Jupiter indicates one of its four large moons, Callisto, has oxygen on its surface and another, Io, continues to emit hot volcanic gases.

Charles Barth, a senior researcher at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics and a member of the CU science team that designed and built the ultraviolet spectrometer flying on Galileo, said hydrogen atoms escaping from Callisto implies the Mercury-sized moon has oxygen locked up in its ice and rocks. In 1996 the CU Galileo team detected evidence of oxygen on the surface of Callisto's neighboring moon, Ganymede.
