STS-63 was the second mission of the US/Russian Shuttle-Mir Program, which carried out the first rendezvous of the American Space Shuttle with Russia's space station Mir. Known as the 'Near-Mir' mission, the flight used Space Shuttle Discovery, which lifted off from launch pad 39B on February 3, 1995 from Kennedy Space Centre, Florida. A night launch and the 20th mission for Discovery, it marked the first time a Space Shuttle mission had a female pilot, Eileen Collins, and carried out the successful deployment and retrieval of the Spartan-204 platform, along with the scheduled rendezvous and flyaround of Mir, in preparation for STS-71, the first mission to dock with Mir.

This astronauts first shuttle flight was as the pilot of space shuttle flight STS-63, which was a first for a female space shuttle pilot. The flight STS-93 was her 3rd and her first as commander of the space shuttle, which also made her the first female commander of the space shuttle.

Saint Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day is a holiday on February 14. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards or candy. It is very common to present flowers on Valentine's Day. The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs among the numerous Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "valentines." Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten notes have largely given way to mass-produced greeting cards.[1] The mid-nineteenth century Valentine's Day trade was a harbinger of further commercialized holidays in the United States to follow.[2] The U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion valentines are sent each year worldwide, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas. The association estimates that women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines

I recognize the date Monday, 6/7/1976, as when I landed on the Saturn moon Phoebe. This observation suggests to me that I was onboard Apollo 8 for the first orbit of the Earth's moon and that I noted it was still Monday in Hawaii when we entered the Moon's orbit. The last known lunar landing, with Apollo 17, was a Monday, and the day I recognize as landing on the Saturn moon Phoebe was a Monday. This observation suggests I created this comparison to connect those events with my wife, Phoebe.

To create this device, I would have started with known dates that represent important aspects of my life. The first is Phoebe's birth date and the second is the date I landed on the Saturn moon Phoebe. Another one is the date, Hawaii-time, that Apollo 8 entered orbit of the Earth's moon.

I assume that I wanted to use Hawaii-time because I was born in Hawaii, which is a notion supported by the plot element of "Aloha, Mr. Hand" in the 1982 "Fast Times At Ridgemont High." Also, the word 'moon' is the basis for the word 'monday.'

The Apollo 17 date doesn't figure in directly to the calculation, but I noted Apollo 17 landed on the surface of the Moon on a Monday and that was the last known time that humans have landed on the Moon. I thought of that when I was reading the lyrics to "New Moon On Monday," especially the part about "Last time, La Luna."

President Ford presented 4 Medals of Honor on 3/4/1976, which would have been recognized as my 17th birthday in London. One of the awards was to Admiral Stockdale. Another was Thomas R. Norris. The third one was Lance Sijan. This represents something of a death march that started for me after I left the planet Mars on my way to the Saturn moon Phoebe for a landing before I intercepted the comet on 7/2/1976. I hit some kind of meteor storm that caused a lot of damage to my Project Orion space ship, including a critical loss of my oxygen supply. I had was left with enough oxygen to complete my objective and then to make it as far back towards Earth as the planet Jupiter.

176 - Remarks on Awarding the Congressional Medal of Honor to Four Members of the Armed Forces.

March 4th, 1976

We are gathered here today to honor four Americans for exceptional military gallantry in the service of our Nation. All four of these men distinguished themselves above and beyond the call of duty. I deeply regret that one of the awards, to the late Captain Lance P. Sijan, of the United States Air Force, is posthumous. The other three, Rear Admiral James P. Stockdale, United States Navy; Colonel George E. Day, United States Air Force; and Lieutenant Thomas R. Norris, United States Naval Reserve, are here with us today.

This is an additional observation I made about the Medal of Honor ceremony dated 3/4/1976 that I think is relevant to me. I find it curious the relationship of these dates I recently found on the internet. The first relationship points to my visit to the planet Mars on 1/21/1976. The second set of dates points to my next stop, which was the Saturn moon Phoebe. The ceremony where U.S. Air Force Captain Lance Sijan was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor was in between my visits to the planet Mars and the Saturn moon Phoebe.

Long, Long Way From Home

It was a monday
A day like any other day
I left a small town
For the apple in decay
It was my destiny
Its what we needed to do
They were telling me
Im telling you
I was inside looking outside
The millions of faces
But still Im alone
Waiting, hours of waiting
Paying a penance
I was longing for home
Im looking out for the two of us
I hope well be here when theyre through with us
I was inside looking outside
Oh the millions of faces
But still Im alone
Waiting, hours of waiting
I could feel the tension
I was longing for home
Im looking out for the two of us
And I hope well be here when theyre through with us
Im coming home
Monday, sad, sad monday
Shes waiting for me
But Im a long, long way from home
Sad, sad monday
Shes waiting for me
But Im a long, long way from home
Sad, sad monday
Oh shes waiting for me
But Im a long, long way from home
