If you're still looking for J. Howard Marshall II and his bride, Anna Nicole Smith, to show up together on the local scene, don't hold your breath. His favorite hangout, Anthony's, has been told he's out of the city for a month. No doubt he's flown off to be with Nicole, who is yet to be sighted with him here. Her latest sighting was in Las Vegas last week. It's truly amazing how the national and international press have jumped on this story and seemingly have no intention of jumping off of it. On Friday a new syndicated show, Extra, flew a crew in from California to do a story. They interviewed me Friday at Anthony's, and talked also to the restaurant's Mary Donna Moceri. I'll let you know when it airs.

Assault suit against model called an attempt at extortion

A Honduran woman's claims that Guess? jeans model Anna Nicole Smith sexually assaulted her were part of a plot to get $2 million from the wealthy celebrity, Smith's attorney said Saturday.
T. Patrick Freydl said the May 27 lawsuit filed in a state district court in Houston by Maria Antonia Cerrato was one phase of a month-long string of accusations and demands by Smith's former employee.
Cerrato, now 23, was hired to care for Smith's son, Danny, and be a housekeeper in May 1992.
Freydl said he has explored Cerrato's allegations -- which range from sexual harassment, sexual assault and false imprisonment to claims that the model had sex with other women -- and found them to be completely false.
"She never could point me to any substantive evidence," he said. "I determined it was a complete celebrity shakedown and I decided we should stop the slander.
Toward that end, Freydl filed a lawsuit against Cerrato in Los Angeles on May 19, accusing her of slander.

Anna Nicole Smith says she could've married her 89-year-old Houston oil tycoon years ago if she were just doing it for the money. The former Playboy Playmate says, yet again, that she did it for love. The Guess? jeans model wed J. Howard Marshall II in June. The 26-year-old Smith said in New York magazine's Aug. 15 issue that she wanted to get herself established first so people wouldn't think she was just marrying Marshall for the money. ....

WASHINGTON, June 18 -- The apparent leader of five men arrested yesterday for breaking into the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee here was identified today as an affluent Miami real estate man with important Republican party links in Florida.

Watergate burglaries
The Watergate burglaries, which took place on May 28 and June 17, 1972, were the focus of the Watergate scandal that ultimately led to the resignation of United States President Richard Nixon. Five men who were apprehended inside the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate building during the second burglary implicated themselves on other counts and charges by voluntarily telling investigators about having committed a "first break-in." Congressional and law enforcement investigations into the first burglary relied entirely on the testimony of the conspirators because there was no physical evidence of a first burglary, and there were no independent witnesses to the event.
Physical evidence that might or might not have corroborated the testimony was destroyed by a number of people involved in and peripheral to first burglary, including G. Gordon Liddy, Jeb Magruder, John Dean, and the acting head of the FBI at the time, L. Patrick Gray, who resigned after his admission of destruction of evidence that had been taken from the safe of E. Howard Hunt.
As a result, the only information available concerning the first burglary is contained in the sworn testimony and anecdotal accounts of the participants themselves.
In the week after the Watergate arrests of June 17, 1972, the FBI's early success in getting information from Richardson on photos shot during the first Watergate burglary of May 28/29, 1972 contributed to the general concern of President Nixon’s closest advisers that the Watergate investigation was going “in some directions we don’t want it to go.” As the transcript of the famous first "Smoking Gun” conversation of June 23 (the publication of which in mid-summer 1974 almost immediately led to the first and only resignation of an American president), shows, Richard Nixon was informed that day in the Oval Office by his Chief of Staff Bob Haldeman that (one day) earlier “an informant came in off the street to the FBI in Miami, who was a photographer or has a friend who is a photographer who developed some films through this guy Barker, and the films had pictures of Democratic National Committee letter head documents and things.”

felony murder doctrine
a rule of criminal statutes that any death which occurs during the commission of a felony is first degree murder, and all participants in that felony or attempted felony can be charged with and found guilty of murder. A typical example is a robbery involving more than one criminal, in which one of them shoots, beats to death or runs over a store clerk, killing the clerk. Even if the death were accidental, all of the participants can be found guilty of felony murder, including those who did no harm, had no gun, and/or did not intend to hurt anyone.

I dreamed just now of what seems to be the flight of the Stargazer aircraft on 6/27/1994 but the visualizations I assume are mostly just the product of a dream. As usual, there seem to be details that happened before the part I can remember enough to write about that I can not now remember. In the dream, I was onboard that aircraft and we were traveling along towards the point where we would deploy the rocket as it fired and traveled towards space. All I can really visualize though is that the aircraft seemed to be invisible. To me at least. I have the sense that other people could see it. We also were no high over the ground but we were very close to the ground and we were traveling at a rate of motion that did not seem very fast. This all was taking a long time too. I kept expecting the rocket to depart from the aircraft but it did not. I can see the terrain very well. There seemed to be people on the ground looking up and to watch us fly over. We were at another point so close the ground above a highway that I saw a woman in a police car looking up at the sky and I think she was watching us fly over. I think it was before that we were flying over new terrain and I was marveling at the color of the foliage of the trees and it might have seemed that I could even touch the trees with my feet. I remember that very well. But that part is disorienting. It is as though I was standing very close to a wall but then that wall was not actually there and what I saw in front of me was the sky and terrain and everything associated with flying in that aircraft above the ground. It seemed I was talking to the other two men on the aircraft flight deck just then and I become slightly aware as I think about the dream of equipment and instruments around me although that could be the last part. I do have the sense they are wearing uniforms and I think I am too. I am in the middle and I seem to be talking to the guy on my right.

I had a dream the other night that would suggest I was walking through solid object, although I do not recall if I actually did in the dream. The wall in that apartment had become some kind of transparent. I wrote about that dream and I wrote about how it seemed that I was flying on the so-called "Stargazer" L-1011 just before it crashed and I was sitting in a seat behind the pilot, which was actually me.

General of the Armies and General of the Armies of the United States are the highest possible ranks in the United States Army.
After World War II, which saw the introduction of U.S. "5-star" officers who outranked Washington, both Congress and the President revisited the issue of Washington's rank. To maintain George Washington's proper position as the first Commanding General of the United States Army, he was appointed, posthumously, to the grade of General of the Armies of the United States by congressional joint resolution Public Law 94-479 January 19, 1976, approved by President Gerald R. Ford on October 11, 1976. The law established the grade as having "rank and precedence over all other grades of the Army, past or present,"clearly making it superior to General of the Army. The Department of the Army Order 31-3, issued on March 13, 1978 had an effective appointment date of July 4, 1976. The rank ensures that no United States military officer outranks George Washington

Fleet Admiral of the United States Navy (FADM), or more commonly referred to as Fleet Admiral, is a five-star flag officer rank and is presently considered the highest possible rank in the United States Navy.
The insignia for Fleet Admiral comprises five stars in a pentagon design with a thick rank stripe, below four smaller stripes, on the service dress blue uniform.
The Fleet Admiral rank is reserved for war-time use only
