No wonder I stopped watching the television series "Jericho" after the second episode.
Earlier this morning I noticed that hulu.com is streaming for free all 29 episodes of that 2006 television series.
I watched the first four episodes this morning.
I cannot recall for certain, because I guess the Veteran's Affairs hospital drugs were really clouding my mind back then, but I still feel certain I watched on broadcast television in September 2006 that first episode.
My notes indicate I watched it again in the year 2007.
I guess I watched again the 2nd episode. At some point I watched at least one new episode when it premiered on broadcast television but then didn't watch any more. I don't now recall which one it was without looking for it. If hulu.com keeps them available for free viewing then I'll probably recognize it again. Something about a news reporter that I was thinking at the time that resembled the actor Kevin Kline. The character was talking about how some kind of disease was worse than known. He was shown later in a body bag.
Even this morning I remembered thinking as the 2nd episode began about how much I hated that episode. I had forgotten about the salt mine.
I watched the 3rd episode this morning and I had never seen it before today. I sure did hate it.

I think they are disquising themselves in my dream for some reason. Anyway, if it really was her, she actually doesn't have to worry about dressing down if we were to go out. Of course, if I have my way, it would be a moot point because why would I want to go out with her when I am in such an ugly situation? At the minimum, I would want to be back to work so that I have regained some independence. And hey, next time you are in my dreams, dear imaginary girlfriend, how about wearing a bikini? Red would be good, or yellow maybe. That would be sweet!

I started this blog in a drug-induced haze from those hospital drugs they tricked me into taking and now I am still here. I have made no progress. I have literally just made my future worse, despite how incredibly relevant are the reports I have generated. I have no future if I remain on this course.
And they didn't just trick me into a simple mistake at that hospital. They didn't just trick me into taking brain medication when I thought I was taking aspirin. I mean, the notion of medication was farthest from my mind. They secretly drugged the food they gave me. I had agreed to stay there a few days in the hospital so I knew I was going to eat there. I had no idea they were going to drug me.
And drug me they did. You just wouldn't believe how doped up I was by that hospital. The doctors kept talking to me and I kept telling them the same thing: people are following me. My apartment is bugged. People on the television know what I am saying.
After three days they let me out and I was just thinking a few days ago about how bad that was.
I knew the city I was in but that was it.
They discharged me and directed me to another building next to the hospital and they told me to go there to get refills of the prescription drugs they had me doped out on and I did go over and I can still remember sitting there waiting for the pharmacist to fill the order and I remember thinking that the guy behind the counter looked suspicious.
Then I was walking around outside and I had no idea where I was. They had taken me there in the back of an ambulance three days earlier when I was still lucid.
Now I am doped out of my mind after three days inside that first hospital and I just start walking. I have no idea where I am. I am walking along a sideroad and I just keep walking.
I looked it up on a map the other day. I still remember the route I took.
I am actually kind of amazed at how efficient was the route I took off on.
I could have wandered around those backroads for days and days and walked around in there and had no idea where in the hell I was or where I was going.
Instead I followed a very efficient walking route after about two or more turns, first right and then left, until I was walking and I was about two miles north of the hospital and I recognized a hamburger place I had eaten at one time before in the near past. Sometime in recent weeks or months I had gone to that hamburger place to eat and that was the only time I had been there before or since.
I recognized Monster Burgers, as I just looked it up on Google Streetview, and I remembered that I had been there before.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida -- After two storm-related delays, U.S. shuttle Atlantis was heading through space Wednesday for its rendezvous with Russian station Mir.
Atlantis blasted into orbit 3:32 p.m. local time Tuesday with a U.S.-Russian crew of seven on the first U.S. spacecraft mission to dock with Mir.
"Godspeed on the 100th U.S. manned mission in space," launch controller Jim Toohey told the crew just before liftoff.
Atlantis will link up with the orbiting Mir and bring back an American astronaut and two cosmonauts who have been aboard since March 16.
Twice late last week, thunderstorms forced NASA to delay the flight. More of the same was expected Tuesday, but the storms held off.
If all goes well, Atlantis will spend nearly two days catching up with Mir and dock with it Thursday, 395 kilometers above Earth.
NASA's Norman Thagard and his two Russian crewmates, cosmonauts Vladimir Dezhurov and Gennady Strekalov, have been aboard Mir for 3 1/2 months. They will be replaced by two Russian cosmonauts flying up on Atlantis. The shuttle will be bringing eight people home -- the first time a U.S. spacecraft will bring back more people than it left with.
Mir was passing over Iraq when Atlantis took off.
Both sides consider this one of the more complex missions in 34 years of human space flight.
Atlantis' commander, Robert "Hoot" Gibson, will have to steer the shuttle to within a few centimeters and degrees of the docking ring on the huge Mir station as the two spacecraft zoom around Earth at 28,155 kilometers per hour. He will have to do this within two minutes of the appointed time and at a crawl.
Such large objects have never docked before in orbit. Mir has a mass of 123 tons in orbit, Atlantis 100 tons. The two spacecraft will be joined for five days.

Though he was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in March 1951, Turing’s life was about to suffer a major reversal. In March 1952 he was prosecuted for homosexuality, then a crime in Britain, and sentenced to 12 months of hormone “therapy”—a treatment that he seems to have borne with amused fortitude. Judged a security risk by the British government, Turing lost his security clearance and his access to ongoing government work with codes and computers. He spent the rest of his short career at the University of Manchester, where he was appointed to a specially created readership in the theory of computing in May 1953.
From 1951 Turing had been working on what is now known as artificial life. He wrote “The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis,” which described some of his research on the development of pattern and form in living organisms, and he used the Ferranti Mark I computer to model chemical mechanisms by which genes could control the development of anatomical structure in plants and animals. In the midst of this groundbreaking work, Turing was discovered dead in his bed, poisoned by cyanide. A homemade apparatus for silver-plating teaspoons, which included a tank of cyanide, was found in the room next to his bedroom. The official verdict was suicide, but no motive was ever discovered.

In a letter to South Carolina legislators, a prominent state senator Thursday said Gov. Mark Sanford's supporters were behind recent Internet rumors that Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer is gay. And he encouraged the General Assembly to remove the disgraced governor immediately.
"During the last two months, we have discovered plenty of solid reasons to remove our current governor from office; but now there's one more reason: the people trying to keep Sanford in power have stooped to a new low with this week's false character assassination of Bauer," Knotts wrote.

Guy Francis De Moncy Burgess (16 April 1911 – 30 August 1963) was a British-born intelligence officer and double agent, who worked for the Soviet Union. He was part of the Cambridge Five spy ring that betrayed Western secrets to the Soviets before and during the Cold War. Burgess and Anthony Blunt contributed to the Soviet cause with the transmission of secret Foreign Office and MI5 documents that described NATO military strategy.
Guy Francis de Moncy Burgess was born at 2 Albemarle Villas, Devonport, Plymouth, England the elder son of Commander Malcolm Kingsford de Moncy Burgess RN and his wife, Evelyn Mary, daughter of William Gillman. He attended Lockers Park Prep School and then a period at Eton College. Burgess spent two years at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, but poor eyesight ended his naval prospects and he returned to Eton. He won an open scholarship to read modern history at Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1930, gained a first in part one of the history tripos (1932) and an aegrotat in part two (1933), and held a two-year postgraduate teaching fellowship. Whilst at Cambridge, he was recruited into the Cambridge Apostles, a secret, elitist debating society, whose members at the time included Anthony Blunt. Like Blunt, Burgess was homosexual.
Notorious for his bad behaviour and overt alcoholism, Burgess initially worked for The Times and the BBC, as the producer of The Week in Westminster, covering Parliamentary activity - wherein he was able to further his acquaintance with important politicians. He spent some time in Spain during the Spanish Civil War. At Cambridge, he had been a friend of Julian Bell, the English poet who was killed while driving an ambulance in that conflict. Burgess and the other members of the "Five" were divided with regard to the impact of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, which compromised their hard left ideals.
Burgess was most useful to the Soviets in his position as secretary to the British Foreign Minister of State, Hector McNeil. As McNeil's secretary, Burgess was able to transmit top secret Foreign Office documents to the KGB regularly, secreting them out at night to be photographed by his controller and returning them to McNeil's desk in the morning. When assigned to Washington, D.C., Hector McNeil cautioned him to avoid three things: "the race thing", contact with the radical element, and homosexual adventuring. "Oh," quipped Burgess, "you mean I shouldn't make a pass at Paul Robeson?"
Assigned to the British embassy in Washington, Burgess continued his life as an unpredictable heavy drinker and indiscreet homosexual. He lived with Kim Philby in a basement flat, perhaps so that Philby could keep an eye on him. Nonetheless, Burgess was irrepressible, once insulting the wife of a high-ranking CIA official at one of Philby's dinner parties.
In 1951 Burgess accompanied Donald Maclean in an escape to Moscow after Maclean fell under suspicion for espionage, even though Burgess himself was not under suspicion. The escape was arranged by their controller, Yuri Modin. There is some debate as to why Burgess was asked to accompany Maclean, and whether he was misled about the prospect for him returning to England.
Unlike Maclean, who became a respected Soviet citizen in exile and lived until 1983, Burgess did not take to life in the Soviet Union very well. Homosexuality was far less acceptable in the Soviet Union, and this may have been a problem, even though he had a state-sanctioned lover. Also, unlike Maclean, he never bothered to learn Russian, and even continued to order his clothes from his Savile Row tailor.
Becoming ever more dependent on drink, he appears to have been killed by his alcoholism, aged 52.
Harold Nicolson, diplomat and writer, describes Burgess a year before his defection in a letter to his wife:
'I dined with Guy Burgess. Oh my dear, what a sad, sad thing this constant drinking is! Guy used to have one of the most rapid and acute minds I knew. Now his is just an imitation (and a pretty bad one) of what he once was. Not that he was actually drunk yesterday. He was just soaked and silly. I felt angry about it.'

In his memoirs which were released to the public on 22 July 2009, 26 years after his death, Anthony Blunt describes Burgess as "an extraordinarily persuasive person" who talked him into joining the spy ring. Although they were both homosexual and even shared a house together, Blunt claims that there was “nothing sexual” in their relationship.

The second thing I would like to say is that I have worked very hard for these last 8 years to make America a place open and welcoming to all immigrants, a place of genuine opportunity that supported people who worked hard and took care of their families and contributed to their communities.
I have worked against discrimination against all people who come to America from other countries, and I've tried to remind our fellow Americans that all of us came here from somewhere else. Even our native populations once crossed a landmass that no longer exists between the Northwest United States and the northeastern part of Asia. So I welcome you here, and I thank you for your participation in this event.
The last thing I would like to say is that I heartily endorse what was said earlier by Mr. Kim about hate crimes. You know, even though America has made great progress in overcoming our past of discrimination on the basis of race or ethnic origin or religion, we still have instances in our country where people are subject to discrimination. And we all know it. We can remember by name some of the victims: James Byrd, dragged to death in Texas; Matthew Shepard, stretched out on a fence in Wyoming. We know that a former basketball coach in Chicago was killed because of his race. We know that a young Korean Christian was killed walking out of a church by a fanatic who said he belonged to a church that did not believe in God but believed in the supremacy of his race.
We know, thankfully, these people are a very small minority in our country, but we know they have to be rebuked and stopped. And that is why we support the hate crimes legislation. Hate crimes are not like other crimes. People are singled out for victimhood simply because they belong to a certain race or a certain religion. In California not very long ago, a bunch of little Jewish children were shot at just because they were going into their school, and a Filipino postal worker was killed because he was Filipino and because he worked for the Federal Government.
There are very few of these people in our country, thank goodness, but we should pass hate crimes legislation to make it clear that we will not tolerate discrimination against people simply because of who they are. And I hope all of you will support that.

Born and raised in Bohola, Ireland, O'Dwyer moved to the United States in 1910 after abandoning his studies for the priesthood. He worked as a laborer, then as a New York City policeman. He studied law at night at Fordham University Law School, receiving his degree in 1923. O'Dwyer built up a successful law practice and served as a Kings County Court judge. He won election as the Kings County District Attorney in 1939 and his prosecution of the organized crime syndicate, Murder, Inc., made him a national celebrity as a tough crime fighter. After losing the election to LaGuardia in 1941, O'Dwyer enlisted in the Army, achieving the rank of brigadier general. In 1946, O'Dwyer received the nomination of the Tammany Democrats and easily won the mayoral election. At his inauguration, O'Dwyer celebrated to the song, "It's a Great Day for the Irish," and addressed the 700 people gathered in Council Chambers at City Hall: "It is our high purpose to devote our whole time, our whole energy to do good work..."
O'Dwyer established the Office of City Construction Coordinator, appointing Robert Moses to the post, worked to have the permanent home of the United Nations located in Manhattan, presided over the first billion dollar New York City budget, created a traffic department and raised the subway fare from five cents to ten. Shortly after his reelection, O'Dwyer was confronted with a police scandal uncovered, ironically, by the Kings County District Attorney. With his health steadily failing, he resigned on September 1, 1950 and President Harry Truman appointed him as Ambassador to Mexico. He returned to New York City in 1951 to answer questions concerning his association with organized crime figures. The accusations followed him for the rest of his life. O'Dwyer resigned as Ambassador on December 6, 1952, but remained in Mexico until 1960. He died in New York City on November 24, 1964 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Born in Ireland on July 11, 1890, he studied for the priesthood in Spain but decided that he did not have the vocation and emigrated to New York City in 1910.
He found work as a plaster's helper, longshoreman and as a policeman. While with the New York City Police Department he attended law school at night at Fordham University and graduated in 1923, giving up his policeman's job the next year.
Eight years later, he was appointed a magistrate in Brooklyn, New York, and served in that office for six years before then being appointed a county judge. In 1939, he was elected District Attorney in Kings County (Brooklyn) New York and won a reputation for his vigorous prosecution of what came to be called "Murder Incorporated."
He first ran for Mayor of New York City in 1941 against Laguardia, whom he succeeded in 1945. He held that office for the next five years, at first building a reputation as an opponent of the corrupt influences of Tammany Hall.
But when he resigned, it was on the eve of a scandal in the police department which involved some of his close associates. President Truman then named him Ambassador to Mexico in 1952, a position he held until the election of Dwight D. Eisenhower as President of the United States.
Meanwhile, in the course of an investigation by the Senate Crime Investigating Committee (The Kefauver Committee), he was accused by that committee of contributing during his tenure as Mayor "to the growth of organized crime, racketeering and gangsterism in New York City." Nevertheless, he was never charged with any actual crimes in connection with his public offices.
He died in a New York City hospital on November 24, 1964 at the age of 74 and was buried in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery.
