New York Times: WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 — A House Republican whose subcommittee oversees the National Security Agency broke ranks with the White House on Tuesday and called for a full Congressional inquiry into the Bush administration's domestic eavesdropping program.

Do you know who I can turn to in order to find out who has me under surveillance? Is it the government? Is it terrorists? Is it somebody in the executive branch of the government? Somebody in the judicial branch? When does it end?

I can look back and see the beginning of this situation in 1997 when an employer unjustly broke my employment contract and I filed a lawsuit to recover the promised wages from my contract as well as verbal promises of expense compensation. I now suspect that by filing the lawsuit, I became a potential target, simply because I was unknowingly creating some kind of identity for myself in the legal system.

The next important point is from 1998 when I left South Carolina to begin work at Microsoft here in Washington State. On the very day I started at Microsoft, December 7, 1998, the state of South Carolina announced they were dropping out of the antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft. And then on June 7, 2000, exactly 18 months to the day later, Judge Jackson announced his decision to break up Microsoft.

I believe I was some kind of passive figure in the antitrust proceedings for several reasons. One was because I had a good reputation in my field, going back to my work as a computer technician in the U.S. Navy, stationed aboard the cruiser USS Wainwright in Charleston, South Carolina. Maybe I was the only one that was being monitored, or maybe they (whoever "they" are) decided to secretly monitor all of us that started on that day to see how we interact with Microsoft management.

It is my opinion that Microsoft should have been broken up into several companies. But instead of breaking it up along platform lines, as I think they have recently reorganized, I think the company should be spit into at least 3 copies of itself. Each company would develop and sell their own versions of the OS, business software, and games. The reason for that approach is to ensure that consumers have greater choice. I believe Microsoft software as it is today is fundamentally flawed from a security standpoint. Some of the other software has the same problems, but since Microsoft dominates the software landscape, their reluctance to make the necessary improvements demonstrates they do not take software security seriously.

As for me, I just want to know when I can get back to working and living my life with the same level of privacy that everyone in this country expects of their own life. Maybe a few people would actually enjoy living this kind of life, but I sure do not enjoy it. I just want to know who can tell me when it will end.

There was never any secret about Walter Scott having a passenger with him Saturday morning when he was pulled over for a minor traffic infraction and subsequently killed by a North Charleston, South Carolina, police officer. Of the two unidentified people who were witness to the crime, as of this morning, only one has been named. The passenger in Scott’s car remains anonymous.

Feidin Santana, a young black man who was walking to work around 9:30 a.m. Saturday became an unlikely hero. Santana already had his cellphone in his hand when he witnessed Officer Michael Slager pull over Scott’s Mercedes and then watched in horror as the worst happened.

Although scared for his own safety, Santana turned on the video/record feature of his phone and captured the now infamous footage. He was too frightened to do anything that day. However, Santana returned to the crime scene the following day and according to reports, presented the video to the Scott family. From there, Feidin Santana went into hiding until yesterday and told the Today Show's Matt Lauer on air that he is still afraid of police
