I met Amanda Busch sometime shortly after I arrived for duty in Charleston SC to the USS Wainwright CG 28. I went to a bar in downtown with Jim Shea and some other sailors. Jim and I were renting that trailer off-base and near the base. She had very short hair. When Amanda and I met again later at that same bar Mark Mogge and Andrea Kea were there, before they married, and Andrea was suspicious of Amanda.

Before I married my future ex-wife, the person I asked to be the best man was, you guessed it, Mark Mogge. Tracie and I ended up just going to the Justice of the Peace though and didn't have a chapel wedding and it was only the two of us there.
Tracie and I first went out on a December 7th. I think it was 1991. I think it was a Christmas party at the bank we worked at. Her job was to stock cash in the ATMs for the western part of the region I covered. When there was a problem with the machines, she called me out to make repairs. She was an avid softball player before we started dating.
What is it that is blocking my memory of my real life????

For some reason, the flag of Turkey reminds me of that camping trip that I went on with Randy Cole and his father, who was a surveyor. That may have actually been sometime around 1980, I need to think more about that to remember for sure. We camped on a mountain in Central- or North Arkansas that was called "where the moon drug." It was a reference to how there was a slope in between two peaks of the mountain, which formed a crescent shape, not unlike the crescent moon. I'm thinking it has something to do with being in Iran in 1980. Also, after I saw that flag of Turkey, I was reminded of a couple girls Mogge and I were hanging out with one day in Italy. We met them while we were visting Pompeii. The Wainwright was in nearby Naples. There is something about them that I associate with Turkey. They had either just come from there or they were on their way there.

I wrote a while back about that time Mogge hit me with that tripod. He was carrying it around for his camera as we were sight-seeing during liberty when we were deployed to the Med. Maybe that represents him carrying a tripod for that Mark 19 grenade launcher, with me carrying the launcher. I have thought a lot about that over the past few hours. Some kind of sniper type of operation far behind enemy lines during the first Gulf War.
Am I being prompted to remember all this? Is that what this is about? Am I supposed to remember?

Are all of my "memories" of Bahrain about the time I returned to port with the Stark after it had been hit by the missiles?
I "remember" sitting in a bar with Mogge after we had pulled into port and had liberty. I had been up all night on watch and my shift ended just as we got to port. I was sitting there in the bar and couldn't stay awake. An Australian sailor pointed at me to one of his buddies when I fell asleep. At one other point, we got the band to play "Hotel California" but they were all just lip-synching to vocals and the instruments. One of those times was when Mogge took a picture of me sitting on a pink Rolls Royce that belonged to a princess.

WASHINGTON — President Clinton ordered new U.S. troops and weapons to Somalia on Monday in the wake of a bloody military operation Sunday that left 12 Americans dead, 78 wounded and at least six held hostage.
The casualty figures, more than double what officials had estimated only a day earlier--and the fact that some U.S. service personnel have been taken hostage--marked a major escalation in the military confrontation in Somalia and seriously threaten Clinton's policy there.
The Pentagon had earlier reported that five Americans had been killed and 24 wounded Sunday, with the loss of two Blackhawk UH-60 attack helicopters, in a U.N. military operation in southern Mogadishu, the Somali capital.
In Mogadishu on Monday, dozens of cheering, dancing Somalis dragged the body of a U.S. soldier through the city's streets.
The U.S. reinforcements sent Monday included 220 more Army Rangers, 4 M1A1 tanks, 14 Bradley fighting vehicles, two replacement Blackhawks and 200 other troops to relieve units now stationed in the East African nation.
Defense officials also said that the Air Force would send two AC-130H gunships, which contain precision-guided 105-millimeter howitzers and a variety of other high-tech weapons, to help rout the forces of warlord Mohammed Farah Aidid in south Mogadishu. The aircraft were used briefly there in August.
The potential political impact of having U.S. servicemen held hostage by Aidid was demonstrated graphically Monday, when CNN broadcast a videotape of an American being held by Aidid's organization. The man on the tape identified himself as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot, Army Chief Warrant Officer Michael J. Durant. The Pentagon said his unit is based at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
In a scene reminiscent of those played out when U.S. POWs were captured by Iraq during the Persian Gulf War, a clearly battered Durant mumbled that "as a soldier, I have to do what I'm told." Asked on the tape about his own role, he replied nervously, "Innocent people being killed is not good."
Within minutes after the videotape had been played, the President and his top officials cautioned Aidid's forces against any mistreatment of U.S. hostages, warning that the United States would act on its own--without U.N. authority, if necessary--to retaliate.
"If anything happens to them (the U.S. hostages)," the President said, ". . . the United States--not the United Nations, the United States--will view this matter very gravely and take appropriate action."
Defense Secretary Les Aspin issued a similar admonition, warning that "we will respond forcefully if any harm comes to those who are detained." And Secretary of State Warren Christopher warned, "We're not going to go through any international body to debate."

Black Hawk Down -- An American War Story -- The Day U.S. Got Stung In Somalia

Late in the afternoon of Sunday, Oct. 3, 1993, attack helicopters dropped about 120 elite American soldiers into a busy neighborhood in the heart of Mogadishu, Somalia. Their mission was to abduct several top lieutenants of Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid and return to base. It was supposed to take about an hour.
Instead, two of their high-tech UH-60 Black Hawk attack helicopters were shot down. The men were pinned down through a long and terrible night in a hostile city, fighting for their lives. When they emerged the following morning, 18 Americans were dead and 73 were wounded. One, helicopter pilot Michael Durant, had been carried off by an angry mob. He was still alive, held captive somewhere in the city.

That was tremendously violent dream to awake from. I remember many of the details leading up to the ending after the altercation started. I saw people trying to escape. I had taken cover behind a pickup truck parked on the curb and with a building behind me, I saw body parts dropping around me from a large battle going on in the street between me and the pickup truck. The point where I awoke was when blood was raining down on me in drops and I was trying to cover myself by what I started thinking after waking was a corpse that was hanging over the side of the pickup truck.

520 bridge reopens after 8 injured when traffic sign falls on bus

The Highway 520 bridge reopened at 5 a.m. Wednesday, after crews worked overnight to clear a toppled sign that hit a bus near Lake Washington Boulevard, on the Seattle side.
Firefighters said six females and two males were taken to hospitals with minor injuries after the accident, at around 10 p.m. Tuesday, A work crane for the new 520 bridge was lifting a load of pipe when it hit a sign that spans the highway.
“(The pipe) swung over, hit the bus, ricocheted off the top of the bus and hit the sign, causing the sign to fall on the bus,” said Trooper Chris Webb of the Washington State Patrol.
Sonny Behrends, who was driving east on the bridge when the accident occurred, said he stopped and heard people yelling for help.
“It was surreal,” said Behrends, who lives in Kirkland. “I, with many other drivers, jumped over the median and approached the bus. A large part of the overpass sign fell onto the top of the bus. The front part of the bus was obliterated. The bus driver was lying on the ground. People were crying. Pretty crazy.”

I've been thinking for a while that the dreams I have are literal. They are the foreign dreams I used to write, the dreams produced by the manipulators of my thoughts. Don't know what to say about that last one. Jumbled, disturbing, painful. Somebody put in a lot of effort to make me forget those memories, if it is real. There was a scene there straight out the opening of "Saving Private Ryan" except that it seemed to be in the Middle East. And it was something like a pyramid I was running into, and I was by myself and every gun, there were countless guns, was turning towards me. It was sort of like a pyramid I was rushing onto, except that it was elogated, like a castle wall. In another scene, a two-star general or admiral was captured by the enemy. Back in the stretched-pyramid, I was fighting off an attack. Grenades were flying in on me, but I don't recall them going off. Then, I and some of my fellow soldiers seemed to be cleaning the place. A lot of other stuff that is fading from my mind. I feel sad, very sad.

And, see, when I saw that movie "Wonder Boys" when it premiered in the theatres in the year 2000 that scene of him wearing the bath robe made me think specifically of Tracie. And I never would have gone to see that movie by myself. A friend at work suggested it, just the same way she suggested we go to see "Black Hawk Down," which I also am doubtful I would have gone to see in the theatre if not for her suggestion. As for "Wonder Boys," I thought it was great. I have the DVD for it and I have watched it at least once and I still think it's funny. I never would have seen that if that co-worker at Microsoft had not suggested it, same probably with the 2000 film "The Patriot." She suggested that one also and I am not certain I would have gone to see it in the theatre.

At the risk of giving away too many personally identifying details, I cannot help but make this following observation. During the 10 AM hour this morning here in Pacific time in Washington State, I was at the grocery store. I had the thought to pick up a bag of Lifesavers candy. I rarely if ever purchase candy but I was thinking about it as I walked to the grocery store and I had thought before, as I was then, about that scene from the 2002 film "Windtalkers." I had no specific reason for purchasing that item in relation to that film "Windtalkers" but I did think about it a great deal among the thousands of details that circulate around in my conscious mind during the day. I would not even note that detail about that Lifesavers candy here in my web log except for one other detail. Somehow, the total bill for the groceries I took to the self-checkout line totaled *precisely* $33.59. That was after tax. I thought about that, especially in the context of observations I have made lately in my web log in the internet, as I left the store and walked back to my apartment and I wondered, as I always wonder about the suspicious behavior of people in that grocery store, if someone in the back office had automatically adjusted the prices on my items so that such a total would be reached. Perhaps. But that becomes less likely the more I think about it. I wasn't consciously calculating a running total of the items I was selecting as I already had decided in my mind before I went in there as to what I would buy. Looking at the receipt, the prices are consistent with what I remember from the shelves where I got the items. I wondered why did that happen today. That happened today and that first time in years and decades since I bought Lifesavers candy.
Of course, according to my time traveler communication theory then that had to happen. I write about it here now in my journal and then it has to happen. Okay, so since everything I record in my journal has to happen then just ten minutes after I post this note, I will get an email telling me where that house is that still belongs to me, which is in this local area, and that I can go there at that very moment if I want to. Since I am now writing this in my journal then that has to happen because that is what I strongly want to happen. A universe time paradox of galactic scale will happen if I do not get that email ten minutes later.
