Skull found near golf course belongs to man who died in 1919

The skull found near the Downriver Golf Course on April 14 has been matched to the body of a man who died in 1919, according to the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The man was 72 years old when he died of natural causes, the medical examiner said in a press release. His “resting place” was broken into at some point and the skull was removed.

The man is not being identified. The theft of the skull is under investigation.
