As best I recall, and this is a good guess because of how other facts factor in to the memory, the last time I pedaled my Litespeed bicycle anywhere along the Burke-Gilman trail was back in February 2004.
And yet, after all that time, I saw this photo today and I knew where the photo was taken.
I never lived in that area and the names the article mentions are not familiar to me now in terms of specific location and probably never were even back then.
I had to search a few minutes on Google Maps within the immediate area to find the specific location but that search was only a few brief minutes before I found it. There was never anything in that area that specifically caught my attention. The pavement condition was notable but there was a lot of stuff that caught my attention every time I was on that series of paved trails. Before searching I knew from looking at the photo that the image was captured with the direction of south on the right-hand side of the photo and that is the direction towards downtown Seattle.
Thousands and thousands of miles I cranked out on my Litespeed bicycle on that paved trail.

The tree-root rumble strips all up and down the Burke Gilman. The stretch from the end of new pavement at Lake Forest Park to south edge of the University of Washington is getting pretty bad. UW is currently fixing a section of the trail, so we don’t swear when taking the mysterious zigzag tour through the campus. And we could all volunteer more.
