Kerry Burgess, excerpt from my private journal: 07/01/10 2:10 AM
I heard this recently. It is as though "Caprica Number Six" is a literary abstraction of some kind of influence that I literally have to a my thoughts. In this case, I had the line of thought recently that makes me think of that dialog about "I have a surprise for you" and it is as though, especially considering my actions, there is somebody influencing my thoughts because, in this case, they knew I would soon watch this episode on DVD for the first time since I first watched it when it premiered and this is some kind of process of establishing dialog among our minds.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
1X11 - COLONIAL DAY
Original Airdate: March 18, 2005 (USA)
Ellen: I have a surprise for you.
Tigh: Uh-oh, should I be worried?
Ellen: ( Chuckles ) not unless you consider a day in a luxury suite aboard the Rising Star as something to be worried about.
Tigh: What? How did you swing that?
Ellen: I have my ways. What you need to do is figure out a way to get slave-driving Bill to give you the day off. And while you're there, you might wanna talk to a few people about your future.
Tigh: What?
Ellen: Later, my love, it can all wait until later.

He That Believeth in Me (2008)
Number Six: Yesterday, you were facing execution. Today, you're free. Why the long face?
Dr. Gaius Baltar: Oh, gee, I don't know. From President of the colonies to this. King of fools. Probably best to be hated by everyone than loved by this lot. Doomed to live out the rest of my life in this loony bin. I don't know, that might have something to do with my rather savage mood swings.
Number Six: Relax, Gaius. You think I've brought you this far just to let it end here?
Dr. Gaius Baltar: I need some encouragement. A ray of hope about the future. An inkling.
Number Six: You've got me. I'm here for you.

That's just what I had started thinking in recent days.
I was thinking about how the pilot had instructed over the intercom system for all passengers to assume the crash position that the aircrew instructs you to do before take off. But I wasn't doing that. I was sitting, I think consistently, in the window seat, the prisoner was in the middle seat and the civilian law enforcement officer that I reported to was sitting in the aisle seat. The prisoner was in the crash position, leaning over with his head on his knees, but I wasn't doing that because I had to keep him in sight.
So consistent with the dialog and scenes at one hour eleven minutes, and as I was thinking in recent days about that crash scene in the 2001 film "Bandits" where the dazed Billy Bob Thornton is standing in the field and looking around as he says "I don't know what this is all about," I have been thinking in recent days of me sitting there in that window seat of United Flight 232 and everything is shaking around and there is a heavy thump and I can't really see anything any longer and then I find myself able to see around me again and I am sitting alone in that airplane seat. In that cornfield. Nothing around me but that airplane seat I am still strapped into after a heavy thumping after all that shaking and then I am just sitting there and I can see again and I don't know how that has happened. That is what I have thought about more than once in recent days. The line of thoughts about me sitting alone in the airplane seat is new in recent days. I haven't thought much specifically past that point but I seem to be familiar with details afterwards and that is consistent with the usual train of thought in that I am all alone. The world is empty. I spend decades in that empty world and eventually I start to struggle with trying to get out of that empty world and back to the real world.

Quotes
Narrator: [Closing Narration] Martin Sloan, age thirty-six, vice-president in charge of media. Successful in most things, but not in the one effort that all men try at some time in their lives - trying to go home again. And also like all men, perhaps there'll be an occasion - maybe a summer night sometime - when he'll look up from what he's doing and listen to the distant music of a calliope, and hear the voices and the laughter of the people and the places of his past. And perhaps across his mind, there'll flit a little errant wish, that a man might not have to become old, never outgrow the parks and the merry-go-rounds of his youth. And he'll smile then, too, because he'll know that it is just an errant wish, some wisp of memory, not too important really, some laughing ghosts that would cross a man's mind - that are a part of The Twilight Zone.

Ironman Utah 758
Actually, I am just too tired and weary to think straight. 754 is correct, just different Ironman triathlon. I don't have any photos of me from Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2003 when I was 754. Ironman Utah was 2002 and I was 758.
My confusion made me look closer at this though, perhaps wouldn't have otherwise.
As with everything else, the results just cause more unanswered questions.

Better days
With no end in sight to this ordeal, I like to think back to better days. The good life for me is when I can train for my triathlon and marathon hobby. It is no fun though without having a job to go to everyday. Without doubt, the best day of my life so far was in June 2004 when I completed Ironman Coeur d'Alene. I remember standing there on the beach rubbing my toes in the sand at 6:55 am waiting for the cannon to go off. I was still kinda nervous, with over 2000 of my closest friends standing around me, ready to start beating the water and everything in their way. It felt like time had slowed to a standstill and then the cannon went off and they started playing some lyrics from that U2 song, "Beautiful day." I remember hearing only that part of the song, about it being a beautiful day, and then I was in the water, thrashing my way towards the end, 2.4 miles away. Here's a photo of me during that race on the bike course:

I sure do miss being in that kind of physical condition. I only completed that race course with about forty minutes to spare and I walked most of the running course but still that is a tremendous amount of distance to cover in seventeen hours. Just swimming for 2.4 miles is quite an accomplishment.
I don't think you can really appreciate how far 2.4 miles is until you try to swim that distance.

Ironman Triathlon
An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) consisting of a 2.4 miles (3.86 km) swim, a 112 miles (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26 miles 385 yards, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. All Ironman events have a strict time limit of 17 hours to complete the race. The Ironman race starts at 7 AM. The mandatory swim cut off for the 2.4 mile swim is 2 hours 20 minutes. The bike cut off time is 5:30 PM. All finishers must complete their marathon by midnight.

September 2, 2005 Christopher Rodkey Staff writer
Without a shred of patience, children who had been corralled for 30 minutes of speeches were set free Thursday in the gushing waters of Rotary Riverfront Fountain, squealing and shrieking as jets sprayed them from all directions.
"It's awesome!" said Logan Sandstrom, 8, shivering while his friends danced in the water. "I ran through and got pretty much cold."
The $1.4 million project, located next to the Looff Carousel and serving as an entrance to Riverfront Park, opened in a ceremony attended by city officials, business leaders and Rotary Club members.
"It's really a true testament to the spirit of this community and the spirit of Spokane," said Mayor Jim West.

Artur Fischer (31 December 1919 – 27 January 2016) was a German inventor.
Synchronized photo flash
In 1949, he invented synchronized flash light photography, which was later purchased by the camera company Agfa. Inspired by his inability to photograph his young daughter indoors, his insight was to synchronize an electronic flash with the camera shutter.
Wall plug
His most famous invention is the grey "S Plug" (Split-)Wallplug made from plastic materials (Polyamide) and is available in various shapes and sizes since 1958 (see Wall plug). Fischer held over 1100 patents and overtook Thomas Alva Edison, who held 1093 patents.
