[The person that always seems to be around all these, going back to when I was allegedly part of the Wainwright crew, told me once that his name is actually pronounced in a manner that rhymes with Monet. In my memory, he told me that back on the Wainwright in the '80s, but who really knows when it happened. It could have been yesterday for all I know. After I wrote that, I remember how the being in the DS9 wormhole were always talking about linear time.]

The title is a reference to depictions of skies in some of the paintings of Claude Monet;

Psychologist Curtis McCabe (Kurt Russell), working on David's case, becomes something of a father figure to him, and much of the film is spent as if told from Aames' point of view, discussing it with McCabe. Yet in his studies of David, a deeper truth seems to be lurking, involving a contract David signed, and the dawning realisation that everything may not be what it seems.

And I was thinking about how convincing Kurt Russell's character was in Vanilla Sky as he was arguing that he was a real person.

I think details of reality are scattered in with my false memory.

I've been thinking today, in terms of that movie Impostor, that a war would be pretty brutal with an alien race, especially for the POWs if there wasn't a lot of knowledge about the other race.

Remarks by Secretary of Defense William Cohen and Bill Gates

Thursday, February 18, 1999

Redmond, Washington

DEFENSE SECRETARY WILLIAM COHEN: Thank you, Bill. (Applause.)

Bill, thank you very much. And Bob Herbold, thank you for inviting me to come here today. (The next comment refers to the former Army officer who is now in MS training) I had mixed emotions about you leaving the military and coming to work here. (Laughter.) And I'll tell you, I gave you mild applause. (Laughter.)

I might also point out that we have some seats that say, "Reserved for the Cohen staff," that anyone who does not want to stand up can use. Though I like the notion of having standing room only -- (laughter) But if you'd like to have a seat, we have plenty of room up front.

Coming to the Microsoft campus was something of a unique experience, as we landed in a big helicopter and I was commenting that they probably think this is "Red Dawn" -- (laughter) -- or an invasion by aliens, coming in this large helicopter.

“I have friends in college who are looking for summer work; I’m on an aircraft carrier," said Midshipman 2nd Class Chris Pogue of Chesapeake, Va. "I spent time with a SEAL [Sea, Air, Land] team last year. Not a lot of people get to do these things. I get to watch F-14s {Tomcats} land right next to me. How amazing is that?”
