All those marathons I ran down south of Olympia. The run course started at Millersylvania State Park which you get to by taking I-5 and then taking Exit 95, of course, and then drive through Maytown. I told Ross Heise the first time I went down there, it was still dark and it reminded me of a scene from “The Howling.”

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS: From I-5 north or south take EXIT 95 and head towards Maytown. Go to Tilley road and turn left. Go to state park entrance and follow past the campgrounds to Kitchen #3.

There was that day I had finished a marathon runners course down near Olympia Washington and when I saw her she was wearing a shirt that was exactly similar to the shirt I had worn while running that marathon course, which I ran some of and walked a lot of because while I could cover a lot of mileage on foot I could not keep up an adequate heart rate to run the entire distance. I was probably doing deliberately to myself, along with how my nutrition choices were poor and of how my physical training was deliberately designed to not give me a lot of boost in terms of speed. I was adverse to speed. My training was adequate only to the point of being capable of completing marathon and Ironman triathlon courses before the minimum time of the course.

Damnit, I know I wrote several times about that woman in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. On 27 June 2004 when I crossed the finish line of that 2.4 mile swim course and 112 mile bicycle course and 26.2 mile running course she was one of two women who were apparently volunteers who were assigned to escort the course finishers away from the finish line and towards the exit area for the course finishers. On the website for the Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2004 triathlon I later watched the video that company, a racketeering organization famously associated with the State of Hawaii, and I could clearly see the video of where she put her hand on my chest. After they escorted me out of the finish line area and directed me to a tent where she told me I could find pizza, which I did but that wasn't as appetizing as it sounded, she made the comment about how she knew I did not want to be there and I responded about how I did want to be there. I was standing there about 11:20 PM in my Nike Pegasus running shoes, after walking much of the marathon course, and the day was 27 June 2004.

After all this time I do still recall what she said to me in that dream long ago.
What I note here is perhaps not from that same dream. But that might have been the same dream with the "endearing quality." I am not certain now today thinking again about for the first time in a long time if that was the same dream I write of now. The dream I am thinking of now is that she placed her hand on one side of my chest and that dream happened sometime around that time in 2006 when I was having that series of dreams. The notion of her hand on my chest was something I thought of but I didn't try to think about it too much. The notion was not strong but now I think again tonight that I was left with the vague sense that something was different about my chest where she placed her hand. That was Lily Jang I was dreaming of that placed her hand on the side of my chest and at some point, a point in the dream, which I do not now recall, or sometime later, I became aware that something was wrong with my chest. But I had known that for a long time before the year 2006.

Dear Senator Murray,
I am writing to you again because my situation continues to deteriorate. The reason I am telling you all this is because I am a law-abiding citizen as well as a U.S. military combat veteran and I request assistance from the government since I am up against an unknown foe. I am not expecting special treatment due to my military service record but I mention it because I believe it demonstrates my commitment to the ideals of the United States of America. Those very ideals are not being respected by my adversaries. I choose to label the unknown forces behind this situation as adversaries, enemies even, because they will not stand up and identify themselves and meet me face to face.
I was concerned for a while that it was the U.S. government behind all this, but after carefully reviewing the circumstances and the evidence I have collected, I concluded that it must not be the government. Unless someone in the government is engaged in a cover up to protect themselves from justice and the penalties for their actions.

On planet Greer, he continues to gaze into the fire while the ghost of his father sits beside him swigging from his beer bottle. The voice of another man can be heard.
HOSPITAL PATIENT (voiceover): Fires. Fires were everywhere. Got so we forgot what a clean breath of air felt like.
(Reginald throws a look at his son where a Desert Storm war veteran is leaning over his shoulder, wearing a dressing gown and pyjamas. He continues talking.)
PATIENT: Emphysema, asthma, bronchitis. They said none of the guys sent in to put out the fires showed any ill effects. Come on! D'you buy that? How can that be true? Those fires were everywhere!
(Reginald looks angrily at Greer.)
REGINALD: The man's a living hell ...
(And suddenly Greer's memories shift back to a time when he was about eighteen years old. With much more hair than he has in the present, he is sitting at his father's bedside in hospital where Reginald is wearing a nasal canula and is reacting angrily as the veteran paces around the ward in his dressing gown.)
REGINALD: ... sent by the Devil himself to torture me for all eternity.
(The patient is scratching his arms violently.)
PATIENT: Just a little skin reaction, they said, just a little itchy on the arm.
(He sits on the side of his own bed, still scratching.)
PATIENT: The F.D.A. approved it, even though it had never been through any serious large-scale trials.
(Ronald looks across at his father, whose face is a picture of angry despair as the patient rambles on and on.)
PATIENT: There were no side effects! They said it was the war, not the vaccine. (He starts to pace around the room again.) Between nineteen ninety-eight and two thousand, twenty thousand soldiers had to be hospitalised after receiving the vaccine even though they had never been deployed overseas. (Angrily) The Pentagon failed to report that to Congress!

I had a dream with a short sequence in it where I was having trouble breathing. There was something about my throat closing up and I was going to pass out very quickly. I don't know if it was part of the dream or if it was something I was thinking of as I woke up briefly after that part of the dream, but thoughts were occurring to me that the problem was that I had been hit with some kind of chemical weapon. There is a chemical weapon that causes muscles to lock up but I can't remember off-hand which one it is. Then thoughts occurred to me that I was remembering when the Libyan's were strangling me with a rope around my neck until I passed out. I am convinced that actually happened to me in 1986. Maybe it happened in the Hanoi Hilton, too, along with other torture, such as having my shoulders dislocated.

(Rush sees who else is in the Gateroom.)
RUSH: Greer!
YOUNG: And the others are not with him.
(Rush stares at him in concern.)
(On the planet, the Gate spins on and stops as it reaches its final chevron ... then its lights go out.)
SCOTT: What happened?!
WALLACE: I don't know. I ...
(He stares down at the remote.)
WALLACE: It didn't connect.
ARMSTRONG: Why not?
WALLACE: I don't know!
(In the Gateroom, the Stargate shuts down.)
RUSH: So where are they?
(On the planet)
SCOTT: Dial it again.
(Eli turns and looks at him blankly, still in shock.)
SCOTT: Dial it again!
WALLACE: Yeah-yeah-yeah, OK.
(In the Gateroom, Rush walks over to Riley's console. He looks up at the countdown clock which has turned red and is into its last minute. Everyone watches the clock as it counts down its final seconds. Just before it reaches zero, Young turns away, unable to bear to watch, but he can't help but hear the accompanying ping from the clock as it stops. Seconds later, Destiny leaps into F.T.L.)
(On the planet, the Stargate stops as it reaches its final chevron, then its lights go out.)
SCOTT (frantically): What happened?
WALLACE: I don't know!
(He looks at his remote. One of the addresses on it flashes and then vanishes from the screen.)
WALLACE: Oh, God.
ARMSTRONG: What?
WALLACE: The address just disappeared.
SCOTT: How can it be there one second and then gone the next?
(Eli turns towards him, his face full of despair.)
WALLACE: They jumped.
(He turns and stares at the Gate.)
WALLACE: We missed it. We must have just ... missed it.
(He sinks down on the ramp, his eyes filling with tears.)
WALLACE: That's it.
(He gazes up at the other two in desperation.)
WALLACE: We're done.
On Destiny, Riley is following Greer along a corridor. He looks behind him to make sure that the Kino is still following him, then turns and calls after Greer.
RILEY: I'm trying to carry on for Eli. Don't you think he'd want me to? I mean, I think it's important.
(Greer doesn't respond or turn back to him. Riley continues to pursue him.)
RILEY: Look, I know you've been through a lot. I only need a minute or two. What happened on the planet?
(Greer reaches the doors to his quarters and pushes the wall panel to open them.)
RILEY: People are gonna wanna hear your story, you know.
(Greer walks into his room and silently turns to face Riley. Riley immediately gets the message.)
RILEY: Maybe another time.
(Greer pushes the internal wall panel and the doors close, shutting Riley out. Slowly Greer turns and looks around his room, then walks tiredly to the foot of his bed. Sitting down on the end, he lowers his head and sighs.)
