When I was a kid, Thedia would dump us in Antlers, Oklahoma, for a while to stay with her mother and step-father.
They were old and lived at the same place apparently where Thedia lived when I was born. I don't remember living there in the 1960s but I do recall in what would the late 1960s or very early 1970 living in another shack not far from there.
Her step-father was Homer Burgess. He was her mother's second husband. He was the brother of Joseph Fletcher Burgess. Fletcher was the father of Joseph Wayne Burgess.
I grew up thinking of Homer as my grandfather but he was actually step-grandfather and great-uncle, according to the narrative of lies that was spun by Thedia and that unraveled in my mind coinciding with the VA Hospital doctor medical drugs I endured back in 2005.
One of my consistent early memories of Homer is that he was always bitching about people not working hard. Thedia and I seemed to have learned two very different lessons from Homer Burgess. She seems to have learned that if something is hard then don't bother with it, just give up.
Hard work. The old guy was living in a shack in the backwoods of tick- and snake-infested Oklahoma and seemed to have never been wise enough to look for anything other than menial labor.
One of my early memories of him was one day I wanted to watch on television The Wizard of Oz. He started bitching about it to his wife and she turned off the tv and made us go outside. That was real useful. Sit around watching the grass grow. That's a great use of my imagination.
Kids nowadays like AOC may not understand what the Old Folks *once* were in this country. Homer probably didn't even have electricity when he was a kid. My high school physics teacher in 1984 wasn't a very old man but I can recall him telling us he remembered the first time he flipped on a light switch. When I was 12 years old I can remember figuring out how to steal cable television, I couldn't be blamed for my discovery of induction. But these kids nowadays, they've got it easy with the Old Folks who never really had to live without modern technology.
Sitting here now at this same stupid desk with the KREM Channel 2 Spokane CBS News broadcast next to me I feel certain I am glad they aren't speaking my name despite the compelling news of public interest I am revealing here. All I wanted to hear from them was a legitimate explanation as to *why* this is happening.

Council approves group to design new Spokane city flag

A small group of community members will soon begin work designing a new Spokane flag.
The new flag would be the city’s fourth design, and Councilwoman Kate Burke, who sponsored a city work group for a new flag, said she doesn’t have any specific ideas for what it should look like.
“The main thing for me is that we have passion and energy and pride for our city,” Burke said. “That’s what I’m hoping for.”
Burke, who already has a Chicago flag tattoo, said if she likes the groups’ design, she may get a Spokane flag tattoo as well.
The city’s current flag was designed by the same artist behind the Expo ‘74 mobius symbol and features similar colors, blue, green and white. Before the city’s current flag, there were two others, a simple design with just a stripe and a sun, which was designed in 1912, and a flag that featured the city scape in 1958.
City staff are aware of just one copy of the city’s current flag, which hangs in Mayor David Condon’s office. A small copy of the flag can also be seen in one of the conference rooms at the ground level of city hall.
The group, approved by Spokane City Council on Monday night, will include two council members, one person from each council district, a representative from the Spokane Tribe, the mayor or a representative from his administration, one young person, one resident at large and a representative from the Spokane Arts Commission.
Every council member except Mike Fagan, who was absent, voted in favor of the work group.

Allegiance
My Favorite Soviet Spy reminds me, as I watched the scene, wondering if the On Demand video would end before the television broadcast of "Allegiance" begins, of when I was a first grader and James Nevell using a pair of pliers, I can still seem to visualize, but not as I saw tonight, pulling teeth from me, as I recall in McAlester Oklahoma. I can recall living there in the US Marine Corps family housing and wondering talking with him about how the television service was not working and I was imagining US Marine Corps soldiers manning television cameras trying to get, I think now for example not remembering precise details, Bozo the Clown back on the air.
What I had been thinking about lately, besides his cold remedy of whisky and honey, was of the early 1970s of me crying as he dragged me across the sand in some beach in Los Angeles. That's really pretty funny.

I could see very well in the dream that we were flying over some mountainous terrain and there was a Libyan military jet below me and to my right side. The dialog that I believe was from the RIO in the seat behind me was about that opposing fighter and the part that I remember the best is that he was saying the the pilot of that Libyan jet was wearing a mask. I could see the jet well enough to establish the make but I was far enough away that I could not see the pilot or even if he was wearing an oxygen mask. The first detail on that notion I remember either during the dream or after I have pondered over it is that my RIO was looking at him through binoculars. At some point afterwards the thought occurred to me that we had actually flown close enough to that Libyan aircraft that I could see visually unaided that he was wearing an oxygen mask. There was some other dialog from my RIO and I have pondered over whether he was also communicating with the Hawkeye or the carrier or both over the radio the details I was hearing from him. We were preparing to engage the Libyan fighter with the weapons on my aircraft and this part about the summary label for the project item reminds me of something my RIO was saying but I cannot remember precisely what he was saying. It was as though he was scheduling a task for our fire-control computer and I heard him define the text of the label for that task of firing at the opposing fighter.
