The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh meet choristers after attending the traditional Royal Maundy Service, held this year in Westminster Abbey, 21 April 2011. The annual event takes place on Maundy Thursday - the Thursday before Easter - and commemorates the day of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. The word 'Maundy' comes from the command or 'mandatum' by Christ at the Last Supper, to love one another.
