In June 2005 I was homeless and I was looking for a place to park my Jeep because I was almost out of cash and I couldn't afford to keep driving around but I knew if I just gave it a few more days then something was going to happen. I had thought about that when I could no longer afford to pay rent but I decided to bail out because I didn't want an eviction on my credit rating and I stayed only as long as I could pay them for. The leasing woman made some bizarre comment about how I shouldn't take it personally or something and that was a bizarre comment for her to make to me.
So anyway, I have been sleeping in my Jeep Wrangler in the mountains for a while and I just know that one more day something might happen.
One day I am sitting in the passenger seat of my Jeep and reading a book and the narrow ridge I am at (look at the deer hunting scene in the 2006 "The Queen" for a fairly accurate description of the landscape) is about 2000 feet above sea level and the ridge is narrow but there at the peak, where it drops almost a sheer vertical cliff for thousands of feet below, there is a place where I can park that is off the dirt road and the ridge is about the width of a two-lane highway.
I've seen no one up there and I have been sitting there and the views are really peaceful but I am really out of food by that point and I am eating from a box of crackers that I have been rationing and for the first time I see another vehicle drive past me.
