This photo of Bill Gates reminds me of something I saw about a year ago. I was walking back to that first shelter I stayed at, the Downtown Emergency Services Center. The staff seemed competent, the facilities were clean, but damn what a depressing place. It reminded me, in an exaggerated fashion, of that scene in the movie Terminator where Reese (was that his name?) was having that dream where he walked back into his bunker and was walking down the hallway. Anyway, I was seeing some weird things around me during this time at this shelter. I was noticing people that looked very familar. There was the one staff guy who looked like that actor, I forget his name, he was recently in that movie about Alexander. A woman in the shelter reminded me of a younger Kim Basinger, who is a woman that probably still has something of an elegant look even when she is grimy. This one guy that looked drunk looked like that movie director, I forget his name, I think he directed that movie Wallstreet. I thought this was all very odd because I couldn't care less about celebrities, but it just seemed like another one of those Twilight Zone moments. So anyway, one day when I was walking back to the shelter after sitting in a park stretching out a ziplock back of dry Froot Loops a social worker had given me, I passed a guy waiting for a bus that looked suspiciously like Bill Gates. But he looked older. I've never met the guy and this guy at the bus stop looked a lot older than the photos I've seen of Gates. But the photo at this link looks a lot like that guy I saw that day.

I am certainly glad that The Kerry Show: Expedition To Pioneer Square has gone off the air. 10 months of that madhouse was more than enough, thank you very much. This new series, The Kerry Show: Back To The Shoreline, is much improved, Now With 10% More Privacy!, but I would sure rather have my own place. And it is hot in here too, but it is nothing like the misery I would be experiencing down at Pioneer Square.
I wonder if someone told the people in the nearby buildings that I was moving in. I got the sense something like that happened last time I moved in. Not sure what they told them, but I could tell something, maybe something like that comment Wally Simpson made all those years ago about me being on the roof with a rifle. I now exactly what is happening here though. Microsoft has been anticipating me being a witness in a jury trial against them and they are trying to turn public opinion against me before it starts because I am a highly credible witness to Microsoft's criminal activities.

The scene in the grocery store reminds me of that time a while back when that woman broke in line in front of me intentionally. I was thinking later she did that so she could provoke an incident when I was walking to the bus stop, as I usually do when I am at that Fred Meyers in Shoreline.

A tree fell and hit a Metro bus Tuesday near Shoreline Community College during the morning's wind storms.
The incident occurred about 9:56 a.m. near Greenwood Avenue North and Carlyle Hall Road, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.
The tree fell onto a Route 331 bus. The driver was the only occupant of the bus and was taken to Northwest Hospital with neck and back pain.
The Puget Sound area is under a high wind warning Tuesday, with Seattle wind speeds expected to increase this afternoon up to 34 mph and gusts of up to 48 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Most of the region is also on flood watch. Seattle is expected to receive a tenth to a quarter of an inch of new rainfall Tuesday.
Seattle City Light indicates that 1,765 customers from White Center to Shoreline -- mostly Shoreline -- suffered power outages as of 11:20 a.m., though the agency pegged higher counts earlier in the morning. Some West Seattle schools reportedly experienced outages that have since been resolved.
Seattle City Light advises people to stay at least 30 feet away from downed power lines for safety.
That bus follows the same route I see on the map that I remember taking the first day to Shoreline back in 2005. I remember that well because I missed my stop and had to walk for a long way back to the transfer point. I knew well that area of the Seattle suburbs but only from the thousands of miles I cranked out on my bicycle along the Burke-Gilman paved trail next to that highway. Eventually my muddled mind found the metro bus express route between Shoreline and downtown Seattle transferring routes from the Seattle Veteran's Affairs hospital where I had to go talk outpatient to that psychiatrist but before that I took some of the more time-consuming scenic routes.

Widespread Damaging Wind Storm Tuesday
In the Inland Northwest, we get several windy storms every winter. It comes with the territory of living at this latitude, as well as being a frequent "gateway" for storms to enter the US. But many of these windy storms aren't considered "extreme". A typical wind storm in our area will result in gusts somewhere in the 50-60 mph. A wind gust over 60 mph becomes much more rare.
You'll notice that the 68 mph forecast for Spokane is higher than the January 1972 storm. We don't have the skill to predict the winds to the nearest mile-per-hour. But we do think that this storm has the potential to rank as one of the strongest ever in the Inland Northwest.

Epilogue: Last Day
After some delay, I am finally down to my last couple hours in this place. They have a new place for me to go, but my condition is only a tiny degree removed from being on the street, with its danger and privacy and frustration. A long time ago, in another life, I once felt resentment for those that would not speak out but now I understand why they would not and I can't really blame them because they were obviously smart enough to know that doing so would only lead them to this point I am at now. I certainly couldn't blame the ones with kids to support, with nothing really to lose myself in terms of that kind of responsibility, I don't even really think of the risks, although up to this point, I have never really lost so badly as now, I have never lost so much. I wonder if I will be alive this time next week, or even this time tomorrow. When I would wake each day and wonder if today would be the last, will today be the last. It used to be a question, not so much wondering if it would be the last, but a question of what I would use that day to accomplish. But now, it is just a matter of surviving, because I still expect it to turn around at some point. At some point, one day, it will turn around and start getting better but for now it just keeps getting worse.

Mayor Nickels’ budget includes $603 million for city bored tunnel-related projects, eight months after he signed an agreement with the Governor and King County Executive. Now the Council will take a week to evaluate his proposal and approve a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) endorsing it. MOA legislation will be introduced Monday and up for a vote Tuesday in the Transportation Committee, with a final vote expected the following Monday.

[Daniel complies. Skaara looks directly at O'Neil and speaks in a calm, unthreatening manner.]
SKAARA
Na-ney. Na-ney.
(he points above him while speaking more native words)
Yu yu. Yu yu.
[He gestures for O'Neil come with him to a lookout point on top of the wall. Kasuf and the people look on in wonder. O'Neil follows Skaara. Daniel starts to follow as well.]
O'NEIL
(to Daniel)
Stay here.
[Daniel stops; O'Neil continues up to the wall. Skaara points out to the desert beyond and speaks in the alien tongue. O'Neil looks and sees a large sandstorm approaching across the horizon. O'Neil nods to Skaara that he understands.]
KAWALSKI
What is it, colonel?!
O'NEIL
(yelling down)
Sandstorm comin' this way.
[Kawalski lowers his rifle and releases his hold on his hostage, who collapses on the ground with a gulp of relief. Kawalski breathes heavily as he releases his own adrenalin.]
DANIEL Well, that would've been an excellent reason to shoot everyone.
