Skybot Skyline

In recent weeks, an explanation filled my mind about the missing cars, that disappeared with all the people, as thoughts in my mind from years ago.

The vehicles were - are - a quick source of metals and alloys and other substances. For those interstellar scavengers, on their unpowered parabolic approach from beyond the solar system and through here, from above, millions and millions of them are easily and quickly accessible, littering the surface area of this planet.

Russian spacecraft carrying robot fails to dock with space station

Reuters August 24, 2019

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A Russian Soyuz spacecraft carrying a humanoid robot failed to dock with the International Space Station (ISS) on Saturday, Russian news agencies reported, citing a live broadcast.

The FEDOR (Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research) robot on its way to the ISS on a planned two-week mission to support the crew and test its skills.

The docking process, originally planned for 0530 GMT, failed due to issues related to the automatic docking system, news agency, Interfax added, cited NASA TV as saying.

The spacecraft is currently 96 meters away from the station and officials plan to attempt docking again on Monday morning, RIA reported, citing Russia's flight control center.

The Skybot F-850 is the first humanoid robot sent to space by Russia. NASA sent humanoid robot Robonaut 2 to space in 2011 to work in hazardous environments.

FEDOR is the size of a human adult and can emulate movements of the human body.

The ISS is a joint project of the space agencies of the United States, Russia, Europe, Japan and Canada.

The Perseid Collapse: A Modern Thriller (Alex Fletcher Book 2)

Steven Konkoly

Chapter 5

He'd already put them more than an hour behind schedule by confronting the Coast Guard station's commanding officer about the lost pistol and the fact they were treated like terrorists while approaching the station in a sailboat. It didn't matter anymore, but he couldn't let it go.

Under normal circumstances, she appreciated his proactive approach to sticking up for the family, but this was far from an ordinary dilemma. They could have walked right from the pier to the front gate in five minutes, but he kept pushing, and they were detained while their credentials were verified. It was pure harassment, infuriating and unnecessary,. Alex should have known better than to push their buttons.

Posted on August 24, 2019

At 1:36 a.m. EDT, Russian cosmonauts issued a command to abort the automated approach of an uncrewed Russian Soyuz spacecraft to the International Space Station after the craft was unable to lock onto its target at the station’s space-facing Poisk module.

The Perseid Collapse: A Modern Thriller (Alex Fletcher Book 2)

Steven Konkoly

Chapter 6 (transcribed excerpts for brevity by me)

Alex had counted four cars of various makes and models. There was no discernible pattern to what type of car survived

he turned all of his attention back to the unfolding drama. Since there was no other vehicle traffic, or background noise, he heard the entire exchange.

"Sir, I need you to step out of the car," said the officer

"Did I do something wrong?" asked the driver. "I stopped where I normally would, even though there's no light."

"Can you please just step out of the car? You're not in any trouble," said the officer.

"Well, I don't see why I need to get out of my car. I have my license and registration right here," said the driver

The officer calmly retrieved the man's driver's license, barely examining it before continuing.

"Mr. Reynolds, the Department of Homeland Security has declared a national state of emergency. We need to replace the vehicles that were knocked out

I'm sorry, Mr. Reynolds, but this vehicle temporarily belongs to the South Portland Police Department. Please step out of your car."

The Outer Limits - Original Season 1 Episode 22

Specimen: Unknown

Aired Feb 24, 1964 on ABC

Quotes

Control Voice: (opening narration) For centuries, man has looked to the skies and sought to uncover the mystery of the universe. The telescope brought into focus the craters on the moon and the canals on Mars, but it was limited and man's insistent hunger for knowledge and experience would not be satisfied until be broke the massive chains of gravity and set foot himself on a planet other than his own. Project Mercury was his first venture into space, a testament to his technical ingenuity and courage, a green light to a hundred other projects which would take him still further. This is Project Adonis, a laboratory orbiting a thousand miles above the earth, a tiny far-flung world connected only by radio and memory, and inhabited by a handful of men dedicated to removing the unknown for future space travelers. At ten minutes after six, on January 8th, Lieutenant Rupert Howard stumbled upon something clinging to the wall of the space lock that appeared alive. He called them space barnacles for temporary identification. They were not.

George Washington

Did I jump back in the past to 3/3/2003 for a landing at Burke Lake near the town of George in Washington State?

That would make sense as I think about it more. That date 3/3/2003 is also the premiere of the film "Tears of the Sun." That would also make sense that details could be incorporated into that tangible medium of intellectual property for the simple fact that since people who knew I was going to time travel knew precisely where to meet me on that date 3/3/2003.

In the context of my natural-time self I drove out there to that area in the year 2005. I wrote afterward in my journal about that excursion and of how you never knew you were about to go over a cliff until you were at the edge.

Learning to Keep a Secret

Monday, Feb. 09, 1981

(2 of 2)

Congress has appropriated $35.8 million to improve security at U.S. embassies, chiefly in the Middle East and Central America. The money is being spent on advanced communications systems that will allow most secret data to be stored in Washington, yet still be almost instantly available to embassy officials when needed. Bars and shatterproof glass are being installed in the windows of many embassies, and vaults for sensitive documents that must be kept on hand are being reinforced. One of the most important steps, obviously, will be to ensure that secret documents that are supposed to be destroyed actually are destroyed. Thus, one esoteric idea under consideration is a system that would slow attackers by flooding embassy rooms with an aqueous foam laden with tear gas. Says a State Department official: "We're looking into all kinds of schemes, starting with banana peels in the parking lot."

Hiram Bingham III

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hiram Bingham III (November 19, 1875 – June 6, 1956) was an American academic, explorer and politician. He made public the existence of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in 1911

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machu_Picchu

Machu Picchu

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel, located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru, on a 2,430-metre (7,970 ft) mountain ridge.

Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was constructed as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often mistakenly referred to as the "Lost City of the Incas", it is the most familiar icon of Inca civilization. The Incas built the estate around 1450 but abandoned it a century later at the time of the Spanish conquest. Although known locally, it was not known to the Spanish during the colonial period and remained unknown to the outside world until American historian Hiram Bingham brought it to international attention in 1911.

"Sounds good. Hey - does anyone else know about the Jeep?" asked Alex.

"Jamie was in her garage when I started it. I let it run for a few minutes to make sure the fuel system was fine. Both of her garage doors were open."

"I suggest you shut both bay doors and reengage the manual release. Makes sure it's locked.

"At some point sooner or later, we need to shore up your garage so nobody can get in and try to steal your car. I'd be willing to bet that Jamie wasn't the only person in the neighborhood to hear the engine start.

"I heard him start the car from inside my house," said Charlie.

"Then it looks like we may be spending the night at Ed's house and posting a watch. You're holding the winning lottery ticket, Ed, except your ticket is a thousand time more valuable than of this weekend's winning mega-bucks tickets. I'll swing by when I'm done taking an inventory here. Stay safe, guys. We all know what can happen around here when things get desperate."

KIRK: Why?

DEELA: Because I like you. Didn't you guess? Or are you so accustomed to being kissed by invisible women?

(She kisses him again, but he doesn't respond.)

KIRK: Deela. Is this why you sabotaged my ship?

DEELA: Oh, but it has not been sabotaged. We we had to make some changes in it to adjust it to us.

Kerry Burgess, Tue Mar 26 21:54:52 2019, excerpt

The typical United States American is childish and naive. Your feeble, dim-wit mind always thinks that movies, especially action, are always about *somebody*. Americans, in their pathetic lives, are incapable of seeing through the messenger to the message.

So anyway, maybe Phoebe called me on the telephone, when she was still 13, between 4/14/1977 and 7/16/1977. That could very well be the basis for that Pink Floyd song about the "space cadet glow," and "go to the show." I found clues from a reliable source recently to support that notion. And, if that notion is correct, then the lyrics also support the notion that she called me and asked if I wanted to meet her at the theatre to see a movie. I had been away for a long time and I was glad that I could see her again.

I can still visualize that all very well. I can't "remember" her name yet, but I "remember" she had black hair. I can "remember" being there in my room and that might have been when I had an antenna rigged up in my room with span wires, for some reason. Thedia told me I couldn't do that. That seems a curious detail to "remember." I had a small antenna rigged to increase the range of a walkie-talkie. It's probably something about Vietnam. That wasn't the first time I was bulding antennas. I did that quite a few times in my artifical and symbolic memory. I was lying on my bed when that girl called about the movie so I'll bet that was Phoebe calling me in 1977. I was probably resting a lot, while also working to regain my strength with exercise.

This is the scene from the movie as I just watched it on DVD. I also wonder if I remember the differences from the draft script and the movie script but I don't consciously remember that I wrote all of it.

1982 "Fast Times At Ridgemont High"

Stacy: Do you think he'll call this week?

Linda: Stace why don't you just call him?

Stacy: I can't

Linda: Yes you can. Guys love that sort of thing.

Stacy: Really?

Linda: Yes. Stacy what are you waiting for? You are fifteen years old. I did it when I was 13.

Nasa investigating first ever ‘space crime’ as astronaut accused of committing theft from ISS

The Independent

Mike Baker

The Independent August 24, 2019

Summer Worden, a former US Air Force intelligence officer living in Kansas, has been in the midst of a bitter separation and parenting dispute for much of the past year.

So she was surprised when she noticed that her estranged spouse still seemed to know things about her spending. Had she bought a car? How could she afford that?

Ms Worden put her intelligence background to work, asking her bank about the locations of computers that had recently accessed her bank account using her login credentials.

The bank got back to her with an answer: one was a computer network registered to Nasa.

Ms Worden’s spouse, Anne McClain, was a decorated Nasa astronaut on a six-month mission aboard the International Space Station.

She was about to be part of Nasa’s first all-female spacewalk. But the couple’s domestic troubles on Earth, it seemed, had extended into outer space.

Ms McClain acknowledged that she had accessed the bank account from space, insisting through a lawyer that she was merely shepherding the couple’s still-intertwined finances.

Ms Worden felt differently. She filed a complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and her family lodged one with Nasa’s Office of Inspector General, accusing Ms McClain of identity theft and improper access to her private financial records.

Investigators from the inspector general’s office have since contacted Ms Worden and Ms McClain, trying to get to the bottom of what may be the first allegation of criminal wrongdoing in space.

“I was pretty appalled that she would go that far. I knew it was not okay,” Ms Worden said.

The five space agencies involved in the space station — from the United States, Russia, Japan, Europe and Canada — have long-established procedures to handle any jurisdictional questions that arise when astronauts of various nations are orbiting Earth together.

But Mark Sundahl, director of the Global Space Law Centre at Cleveland State University, said he was not aware of any previous allegation of a crime committed in space.

Nasa officials said they were also unaware of any crimes committed on the space station.

Ms McClain, now back on Earth, submitted to an under-oath interview with the inspector general last week. She contends that she was merely doing what she had always done, with Ms Worden’s permission, to make sure the family’s finances were in order.

“She strenuously denies that she did anything improper,” said her lawyer, Rusty Hardin, who added that the astronaut “is totally cooperating”.

Ms Hardin said the bank access from space was an attempt to make sure that there were sufficient funds in Ms Worden’s account to pay bills and care for the child they had been raising.

Ms McClain had done the same throughout the relationship, he said, with Ms Worden’s full knowledge. Ms McClain continued using the password that she had used previously and never heard from Ms Worden that the account was now off limits, he added.

A complaint involving bank access from the space station is just one of a number of complex legal issues that have emerged in the age of routine space travel, issues that are expected to grow with the onset of space tourism.

One potential issue that could arise with any criminal case or lawsuit over extra-terrestrial bank communications, Ms Sundahl said, is discovery: Nasa officials would be wary of opening up highly sensitive computer networks to examination by lawyers, for example.

A top NASA astronaut is accused of hacking her estranged spouse's bank account from space

"Lt Col. Anne McClain has an accomplished military career, flew combat missions in Iraq and is one of NASA’s top astronauts," the space agency said..

A NASA astronaut is accused of hacking her estranged spouse's bank account from space.

Anne McClain, whom the space agency says is "one of NASA's top astronauts," allegedly accessed the bank account of her estranged spouse, Summer Worden, while aboard the International Space Station earlier this year, according to NBC affiliate KPRC in Houston.

The two women are in the process of a divorce and battling over custody of a 6-year-old son, Worden told KPRC. She said she conceived the boy through in vitro fertilization and carried by a surrogate.

Worden, who according to The New York Times is a former Air Force intelligence officer living in Kansas, said her son was a year old when she met McClain. The women got married in 2014, the Times reported. After about three years, they began having difficulties, Worden told KPRC.

Then, earlier this year McClain allegedly accessed Worden's bank account while the astronaut was at the space station.

Worden said her bank “did give evidence to my attorneys that she did access my bank accounts,” according to KPRC. “I was shocked and appalled at the audacity by her to think that she could get away with that, and I was very disheartened that I couldn't keep anything private.”

Her attorney could not immediately be reached for comment. A copy of the letter obtained by KPRC gives computer details to show that McClain accessed Worden's bank account a few times from a NASA computer in January and February.

The Farewell Dossier

By WILLIAM SAFIRE

Published: February 2, 2004

Intelligence shortcomings, as we see, have a thousand fathers; secret intelligence triumphs are orphans. Here is the unremarked story of ''the Farewell dossier'': how a C.I.A. campaign of computer sabotage resulting in a huge explosion in Siberia -- all engineered by a mild-mannered economist named Gus Weiss -- helped us win the cold war.

Weiss worked down the hall from me in the Nixon administration. In early 1974, he wrote a report on Soviet advances in technology through purchasing and copying that led the beleaguered president -- détente notwithstanding -- to place restrictions on the export of computers and software to the U.S.S.R.

Seven years later, we learned how the K.G.B. responded. I was writing a series of hard-line columns denouncing the financial backing being given Moscow by Germany and Britain for a major natural gas pipeline from Siberia to Europe. That project would give control of European energy supplies to the Communists, as well as generate $8 billion a year to support Soviet computer and satellite research.

President François Mitterrand of France also opposed the gas pipeline. He took President Reagan aside at a conference in Ottawa on July 19, 1981, to reveal that France had recruited a key K.G.B. officer in Moscow Center.

Col. Vladimir Vetrov provided what French intelligence called the Farewell dossier. It contained documents from the K.G.B. Technology Directorate showing how the Soviets were systematically stealing -- or secretly buying through third parties -- the radar, machine tools and semiconductors to keep the Russians nearly competitive with U.S. military-industrial strength through the 70's. In effect, the U.S. was in an arms race with itself.

Reagan passed this on to William J. Casey, his director of central intelligence, now remembered only for the Iran-contra fiasco. Casey called in Weiss, then working with Thomas C. Reed on the staff of the National Security Council. After studying the list of hundreds of Soviet agents and purchasers (including one cosmonaut) assigned to this penetration in the U.S. and Japan, Weiss counseled against deportation.

Instead, according to Reed -- a former Air Force secretary whose fascinating cold war book, ''At the Abyss,'' will be published by Random House next month -- Weiss said: ''Why not help the Soviets with their shopping? Now that we know what they want, we can help them get it.'' The catch: computer chips would be designed to pass Soviet quality tests and then to fail in operation.

In our complex disinformation scheme, deliberately flawed designs for stealth technology and space defense sent Russian scientists down paths that wasted time and money.

The technology topping the Soviets' wish list was for computer control systems to automate the operation of the new trans-Siberian gas pipeline. When we turned down their overt purchase order, the K.G.B. sent a covert agent into a Canadian company to steal the software; tipped off by Farewell, we added what geeks call a ''Trojan Horse'' to the pirated product.

''The pipeline software that was to run the pumps, turbines and valves was programmed to go haywire,'' writes Reed, ''to reset pump speeds and valve settings to produce pressures far beyond those acceptable to the pipeline joints and welds. The result was the most monumental non-nuclear explosion and fire ever seen from space.''

Our Norad monitors feared a nuclear detonation, but satellites that would have picked up its electromagnetic pulse were silent. That mystified many in the White House, but ''Gus Weiss came down the hall to tell his fellow NSC staffers not to worry. It took him another twenty years to tell me why.''

Farewell stayed secret because the blast in June 1982, estimated at three kilotons, took place in the Siberian wilderness, with no casualties known. Nor was the red-faced K.G.B. about to complain publicly about being tricked by bogus technology. But all the software it had stolen for years was suddenly suspect, which stopped or delayed the work of thousands of worried Russian technicians and scientists.

Vetrov was caught and executed in 1983. A year later, Bill Casey ordered the K.G.B. collection network rolled up, closing the Farewell dossier. Gus Weiss died from a fall a few months ago. Now is a time to remember that sometimes our spooks get it right in a big way.

Whistle-blowers in military seen at risk

Retaliation claims usually rejected

By RICHARD LARDNER

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON -- Military whistle-blowers might want to save their breath. The Pentagon inspector general, the internal watchdog for the Defense Department, hardly ever sides with service members who complain that they were punished for reporting wrongdoing, according to a review of cases.

The inspector general's office rejected claims of retaliation and stood by the military in more than 90 percent of nearly 3,000 cases during the past six years. More than 73 percent were closed after only a preliminary review that relied on available documents and sources -- often from the military itself -- to determine whether a full inquiry was warranted.

The high rejection rates suggest scores of complaints aren't valid, that many whistle-blowers are whiners who are prone to exaggeration. But critics, including a Republican senator, wonder whether many valid cases are dismissed before being carefully examined because of attitudes in the inspector general's office.

It's all there. In my mind.

I often sit here in my apartment and stand here at my computer and I wonder: who am I trying to convince.

In the last few hours I am thinking, possibly not for the first time, I am trying to convince someone that I understand.

99.999999% of the time I am trying to convince you, the mob, the masses, all you dullards out there, you Shrieking Monkeys.

Now I am thinking there is only one person I am trying to convince. Trying to convince myself to convince you.

All those sleeping dreams I have not documented here. Such interesting details and somewhat vivid but so highly detailed. Still prescient. I have prescient sleeping dreams still so very often. Perhaps every day but I'm not really keeping track. I know they happen more than once per week and really there must be several days each week, I am thinking now, where my sleeping dreams have one or more instance of a prescient observation. I have several sleeping dreams I later recall each day, or most days, and at least one is prescient of observations I will make later that day. I wrote here before where I established that a prescient sleeping dream is more believable if that observation occurs later that same day. I keep thinking about those sleeping dreams yesterday and I love those dreams. Horrific to some degree and I just cannot write here what I want to articulate and there is just something...

And I remember so clearly those thoughts. I was headed north because I knew where to find new ships. See, I can't find references to this in my notes but that conscious notion is just as strongly recurring to my waking mind today as the corridors and hallways and elevators and passageways are to my sleeping mind for all these decades: there were no used cars. All that was left was anything new.

For me though, I was transfered into some kind of alternate reality where my consciousness existed in some kind of empty world and I had to figure out how to get back out to the real world of 5/9/1985 where I had to recover control of my aircraft so I could land back on the aircraft carrier so my dead RIO could at least get a decent burial by his family.

Right about that time I made that note in these past few minutes, maybe at the time I was writing that last note, FM 102.5 ran a promo for Pink Floyd and was exactly what I had been thinking earlier, with that spoken dialog about "I was really drunk at the time," that is really compelling to what I was thinking earlier as thoughts were going through my mind and something about how I travel backwards in time and I guess could represent Tom Reagan asking me how I managed to get the time travel portal open the first time and I responded about how I had been drunk at the time. That line of thought has occurred to me before and probably quite a few times, I thought as I was writing that last sentence and because I would think about how I did not want to be drunk when I entered the time travel portal the first time and was transferred to my empty world because I wanted it to start off kind of like a vacation to some place new and I did not want to be drunk when I stepped off the airplane, so to speak.

July of *1989*

Standing there in a pristine undamaged field of corn just after losing focus momentarily while the pilot of Flight 232 was struggling to land his crippled airplane we were passengers on I learned a new lesson in loneliness. Nothing around me but a field of corn and the undamaged airplane seat I had been sitting in on the airplane and then I was sitting in the seat in that field of corn and I was in an empty world.

Posted by Kerry Burgess - H.V.O.M at 2:35 AM Wednesday, August 03, 2011

That's just what I had started thinking in recent days.

I was thinking about how the pilot had instructed over the intercom system for all passengers to assume the crash position that the aircrew instructs you to do before take off. But I wasn't doing that. I was sitting, I think consistently, in the window seat, the prisoner was in the middle seat and the civilian law enforcement officer that I reported to was sitting in the aisle seat. The prisoner was in the crash position, leaning over with his head on his knees, but I wasn't doing that because I had to keep him in sight.

So consistent with the dialog and scenes at one hour eleven minutes, and as I was thinking in recent days about that crash scene in the 2001 film "Bandits" where the dazed Billy Bob Thornton is standing in the field and looking around as he says "I don't know what this is all about," I have been thinking in recent days of me sitting there in that window seat of United Flight 232 and everything is shaking around and there is a heavy thump and I can't really see anything any longer and then I find myself able to see around me again and I am sitting alone in that airplane seat. In that cornfield. Nothing around me but that airplane seat I am still strapped into after a heavy thumping after all that shaking and then I am just sitting there and I can see again and I don't know how that has happened. That is what I have thought about more than once in recent days. The line of thoughts about me sitting alone in the airplane seat is new in recent days. I haven't thought much specifically past that point but I seem to be familiar with details afterwards and that is consistent with the usual train of thought in that I am all alone. The world is empty. I spend decades in that empty world and eventually I start to struggle with trying to get out of that empty world and back to the real world.

Posted by Kerry Burgess - H.V.O.M at 7:55 PM Thursday, December 08, 2011

Also, despite how I tell myself often that I am ready and mentally prepared to take the big step into that great big empty world where I can finally get some privacy today was a wake up call.

Answers are elusive in the series finale.

TV Show Episode Scripts > The Leftovers (2014) > Season 3 > The Book of Nora

(from internet transcript)

Nora Durst: I knew there was a chance it would kill me, but I made my peace with that. And I said goodbye to my brother and I climbed right in.

Kevin Garvey: And then you changed your mind.

Nora Durst: No. I didn't change my mind. I went through. I was in the parking lot, naked curled up like a baby. It was the same parking lot I'd just been in, except there were no trucks no people, no nothing. It was cold, so I started to walk. I walked by empty houses abandoned buildings. And I found a store, so I went in and there were clothes there-- clothes hanging on racks-- so I got dressed and I got back to walking. I walked long enough to convince myself that I was the only thing alive in that place. And then night came, and I saw lights, so I went to them. It was a house, and there was a man and a women there. They were kind and they told me the man told me that seven years earlier, he was in a supermarket and every single person disappeared except for him. And the women told me that she lost her husband, her three daughters, and all eight of her grandchildren. And that's when I understood. Over here, we lost some of them. But over there, they lost all of us. So, I went and did what I came there to do. I went to find my kids. Planes don't really fly over there. They have enough resources, just not enough pilots. So, I found a boat that would take me. No boats go directly from Australia to New York, so it took me a long time to get there. A long time. But I finally did. And I walked through Mapleton. I walked through the town where I grew up where my parents died, and Matt. Where you and I met. Most of the houses were overgrown with weeds, but the streetlights still turned on at night, and that made me feel less stupid about expecting them to still be there. Still there in the very same house where I lost them. When I got there, I stood behind a tree across the street and I waited because I was too scared to go up and knock. And then, after a while, the door opened. At first, I didn't recognize them. A tall teenage boy with curly hair and a girl, maybe 11. They were my children. And then my husband came out, and he was with a woman. She was pretty. She was pretty, and they were all smiling. They were happy. And I understood that here in this place, they were the lucky ones. In a world full of orphans, they still had each other. And I was a ghost. I was a ghost who had no place there. And that, Kevin, is when I changed my mind. The physicists who sent me through told me the first person to use the machine was the guy who invented it. His name was Dr. Van Eeghen. I'm pretty sure they were making fun of me, but they said when I went over that I should look him up, so I did. That took a long time, too. But I found him and I asked him to make another machine because he already knew how. And he asked me if I had come all that way, why in God's name did I wanna go back? And I told him it's because I didn't belong there. So, he built it. And I came back through. I came back here. Did I think about you? Did I wanna call you? Did I wanna be with you, Kevin? Of course I did. But so much time had passed. It was too late. And I knew that if I told you what happened that you would never believe me.

Kevin Garvey: I believe you.

but other times I think he was organic and then that leads me to thinking about how I wonder what is the real difference which then leads me to think about how that devalues life itself, or at least, those of use who have been duplicated. So the clone of me the clone shows up and he gives me instructions that he types out on a non-internet and non-wireless equipped computer and from those instructions I know where to find the teleportation device that will transport me into the virtual world that belongs to me, which I have been thinking for a while, contains no mirrors and there is nothing in there where I can see my reflection. So I go to that transportation device and I read through the instructions for activating it and a new aspect of the process, which I now think of from "The Terminator" is that I have to take off all my clothes before I am transported and then I am transported to my virtual world. The reason for the clothes is simply that, for me, there are factors constructed into the virtual world that creates a minor sense of hardship and indeed when I transport I am in the same location where the device is stored but there are no clothes there, or any people for that matter, and I have to walk outside in the freezing rain to find shelter. I am transported to the same location I remember but many of the buildings and structures that I would see at that location are gone in the virtual world. The road is still there but there are power lines or gas stations or many other structures that are useless in that virtual world. There are automobiles but only in new car lots and they don't require gasoline.

She went before I did but I was already there.

I thought about that extensively. I think I wrote here before about how I tried to find again what I thought I wrote in my journal about it but could not find anything.

I had been there for months or longer. One day, I was passing through New York and I had the urge to drive through New York City. I was thinking that my mind was laboring with the notion I would be leaving there on that day going back to the real world and so I had taken out of my luggage my dress white US Navy uniform I was wearing that day months and months ago I found myself there in my new world. I had parked somewhere in the massive urban city and was walking along when I saw her there on the sidewalk, thinking she was a mannequin. I thought extensively of how only certain new vessels remained and I operated one US Navy [ ship ] to cross the Atlantic. We parted at a doorway after stating I would return to Charleston and I walked through a doorway before I even thought to say goodbye turning to find myself alone again.

For several days the past week I had decided to make another excursion to downtown Spokane.

I have to take 2 metro bus routes to get over there to downtown and then the same 2 to get back and I haven't been downtown Spokane very often, probably about a half-dozen times.

So I had a plan of what I was going to look for but I also wanted my trip to coincide with the day that new snowfall was possible.

The TV news had reported for several days that new snowfall was possible that day Friday so that was the objective of my plan, to travel over there if snowfall looked likely that day.

We've been in somewhat of a snowfall drought so far this season so traveling there made the day seem somewhat more random.

The whole point was to not check the numbers until I got back.

I still remember how suddenly the snowfall arrived yesterday. Perhaps my vantage point on the metro bus diminished that. I couldn't see outside in the direction ahead of the bus. But it was a sudden outburst of snow.

I got off the bus in the south-side of downtown Spokane and after a few steps, my right foot slipped on the sidewalk, looking down, seeming in slow motion to it all, to see a narrow corridor exposing under the snow a shiny gray metal plate.

I didn't fall but, in what seemed to be slow motion, my right-foot was sliding forward and my left-foot planted firmly behind me and I felt my left knee gently reach the pavement and then I reached out to a railing with my right hand and brought myself back up. A few hours later I discovered that astronaut statue.

Kerry Burgess, in the only time I know about, because he has not returned from his second trip, was in there for a time I later presumed because of his astronomical readings in the sky, of which I assumed was accurate in this real world. He had no clocks so he spent almost all his time, which was probably more than fifty years, trying to find a way to measure time. There was no people in that world but sometimes he would see mannequins positioned around and sometimes that mannequins would be positioned around where he had been trying to measure time, such as by chiseling marks into rock, which the mannequins were then standing in front of that had been sabotaged.
