To Catch a Thief

I brought a monocle with me for the first time but I forgot to try using it in an image of me as I had been planning.

I had already discovered the association with that finale episode so there really wouldn't have been anything especially enlightening to that illustration by me.

If I had made that illustration with the monocle and *then* *after* returning then it might be somewhat interesting, as future opportunities are available.

The 10429 days association is the only one I had discovered prior to 08/07/2019. I don't really use any method for predicting calendar days in the future. Most of those days in the future that I find are often because the pattern begins to show up in other work I'm doing. Some of them I guess at. I sometimes wonder what sort of pattern would present itself and I search for it. As of today I have only 3 calendar date patterns identified in my files for the remainder of August 2019. I don't have anything predicted about today 08/08/2019.

from my private journal as Kerry Burgess: 10/1/2006 6:48 PM
I’m guessing I didn’t have anymore Sea Service time, which reflects, as I recall, the time a Sailor is assigned to a ship of the fleet, because I was assigned to a SEAL team from the time I returned in 1987 to 1990. I guess further my Sea Service, although interspersed with temporary duty assignments such as shuttle missions, resumed when I was assigned to the Arleigh Burke in 1991. My DD-214 doesn’t reflect that because, first of all, it is about Kerry Burgess, but also because it only reflects the period ending 5/14/90. I may have still flown as a fighter and bomber pilot after 1987, but I don’t think that was ever my primary role again after returning. I am not sure what to think about the thoughts I have had about flying the Apache gunship. Maybe that is something else I did occasionally.

Episode Summary

A research team studying the Stargate's ninth chevron is forced to flee through the gate when their secret base is attacked by an unknown enemy. They end up stranded on an Ancient ship named Destiny, billions of light years from Earth.

(from internet transcript)

(As the Gate spins on, the base begins to shake, and lightning sparks down from the capacitors suspended over the top of the Gate.)

WALLACE (nervously): Wh-what's going on?

SCOTT: I don't know. We never got this far before.

RILEY: Chevron nine ...

(He watches as the Gate continues to spin.)

RILEY: Chevron nine ... will not lock.

(An alarm sounds on the computer as Colonel Telford turns towards Riley's console in concern. Rush hurries over there.)

RUSH: We matched the power requirements down to the E.M.U. It must work.

RILEY: Power levels in the Gate capacitors are going into the red.

YOUNG: Shut it down.

RUSH: No, wait, wait, wait!

RILEY: We're reading fluctuations in the output from the ...

YOUNG: Shut it down now.

(He puts his hand on Riley's shoulder to emphasise his order. Riley activates his controls and the Gate groans and slows down before coming to a halt. The capacitors continue to spark for a moment, then also shut down and the base stops shaking. Rush straightens up, his face a picture of disappointment. He turns to Young and forces a smile.)

RUSH: It should have worked.

YOUNG: Well, it didn't, and drawing power from the planet's core ...

RUSH (talking over him): Dangerous? Yes, I'm aware of that.

YOUNG: Regardless of what's been spent or what's at stake, my first priority is to ensure the safety of the people on this base.

RUSH: ... Of course. (He forces another smile.) Of course. Eli? We'd best run through your equations again.

(He smiles politely at the group as Eli looks startled.)

RUSH: Excuse me.

(He walks away as Eli calls after him, his voice high-pitched in indignation.)

WALLACE: You are not seriously putting this on me!

(He looks at Colonel Telford, who stares back at him with his arms folded and his face stern. Eli turns to the Senator.)

WALLACE: Not my fault.

RUSH: It is, but they sent it out unmanned, planning to use the Gate to get here when it was far enough out into the universe. But they probably learned to ascend before that time.

WALLACE: Learned to what?

RUSH: Ascension.

Electrical resistance and conductance

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The electrical resistance of an object is a measure of its opposition to the flow of electric current. The inverse quantity is electrical conductance, and is the ease with which an electric current passes.

The resistance of an object depends in large part on the material it is made of

Conductors and resistors

Substances in which electricity can flow are called conductors.

Sunlight

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sunlight is a portion of the electromagnetic radiation given off by the Sun, in particular infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light. On Earth, sunlight is filtered through Earth's atmosphere, and is obvious as daylight when the Sun is above the horizon. When the direct solar radiation is not blocked by clouds, it is experienced as sunshine, a combination of bright light and radiant heat.

Measurement

Researchers can measure the intensity of sunlight using a sunshine recorder, pyranometer, or pyrheliometer. To calculate the amount of sunlight reaching the ground

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun

Sun

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System.

It is by far the most important source of energy for life on Earth.

The Sun currently fuses about 600 million tons of hydrogen into helium every second, converting 4 million tons of matter into energy every second as a result. This energy, which can take between 10,000 and 170,000 years to escape from its core, is the source of the Sun's light and heat.

The enormous effect of the Sun on Earth has been recognized since prehistoric times, and the Sun has been regarded by some cultures as a deity.

Sunlight

Main article: Sunlight

The solar constant is the amount of power that the Sun deposits per unit area that is directly exposed to sunlight. The solar constant is equal to approximately 1,368 W/m2 (watts per square meter) at a distance of one astronomical unit (AU) from the Sun (that is, on or near Earth).

Energy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In physics, energy is the quantitative property that must be transferred to an object in order to perform work on, or to heat, the object.

The SI unit of energy is the joule, which is the energy transferred to an object by the work of moving it a distance of 1 metre against a force of 1 newton.

Could You Charge an iPhone with the Electricity in Your Brain?

Maddie Stone

8/12/15 11:50am

You may be thinking these numbers sound pretty puny. But lucky for us, the human brain contains roughly 80 billion neurons. Of course, not all of them are lighting up at once. In fact, recent research suggests that only about one percent of the neurons in our brains are active at any given moment. Still, 800 million neurons is nothing to sniff at — it might just be enough to produce a meaningful amount of power. Let’s do the math and see.

Given: 105 mV per action potential, 1 nanoamp of current per neuron, and 800 million neurons firing at once, how long would it take my brain’s electricity to charge an iPhone?
First, we’ll convert everything to fundamental units:

1 nanoamp / neuron = 1.0 x 10^-9 amperes / neuron

105 mV / action potential = 0.105 V / action potential

Next, we’ll calculate the amount of power generated when a single neuron fires:

0.105 V x (1.0 x 10^-9 A) = 1.05 x 10^-10 W / neuron

Scaling up to an entire human brain:

(1.05 x 10^-10 W / neuron) x (800 million neurons / brain) = 0.085 Watts / brain

Now we’re getting somewhere! On average, at any given moment, your brain’s electricity is outputting roughly 0.085 Watts of power. Your brain is basically an energy saving LED.

Self

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The self is an individual person as the object of his or her own reflective consciousness.[citation needed] This reference is necessarily subjective, thus self is a reference by a subject to the same subject.

Neuroscience

Two areas of the brain that are important in retrieving self-knowledge are the medial prefrontal cortex and the medial posterior parietal cortex.

Psychology

Main article: Psychology of self

The psychology of self is the study of either the cognitive and affective representation of one's identity or the subject of experience. The earliest formulation of the self in modern psychology forms the distinction between the self as I, the subjective knower, and the self as Me, the subject that is known. Current views of the self in psychology position the self as playing an integral part in human motivation, cognition, affect, and social identity.

Matter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In classical physics and general chemistry, matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume. All everyday objects that can be touched are ultimately composed of atoms, which are made up of interacting subatomic particles, and in everyday as well as scientific usage, "matter" generally includes atoms and anything made up of them, and any particles (or combination of particles) that act as if they have both rest mass and volume. However it does not include massless particles such as photons, or other energy phenomena or waves such as light or sound. Matter exists in various states (also known as phases). These include classical everyday phases such as solid, liquid, and gas

The Invisible Man (1975) Season 1 Episode 1

AIRED: 9/8/75

from my private journal as Kerry Burgess: 04/26/07 2:04 PM

I am 1596 days older than Phoebe Cates.

from my private journal as Kerry Burgess: 04/27/07 3:30 PM

I don't know if I was ever married to Phoebe Cates but I think his comments about his wife in the movie reflect my feelings at the time for Phoebe Cates in our relationship, whatever that was.

From 3/3/1959 to 7/16/1963 is: 1596 days

from my private journal as Kerry Burgess: 04/26/07 5:33 PM
That release date was also 8 years after I was at the Saturn moon Phoebe and on a day that Phoebe Cates was 7633 days old.

From 7/16/1963 to 6/8/1984 is: 7633 days

04/26/07 5:43 PM
So if I have this figured out correctly, on Christmas Eve when I was 9 years old, I was on Apollo 8 when humans first orbited the Earth's Moon.

from my private journal as Kerry Burgess: 04/27/07 4:53 AM
I don't think any one could ever come close to fulfilling my feelings for Phoebe Cates after we stopped seeing other. Julia Roberts created her own place in my heart that was comparable. And then no one else could compare with my feelings for her. Phoebe, I think, I feel, was my great love. And I have been lonely ever since.

from my private journal as Kerry Burgess: August 3, 2006

After a few more days of the medication, I'll probably be at 95% Kerry Burgess and 5% Thomas Ray and then 4%, then 3%, etc. It is only the Thomas Ray in my mind that knows what is happening with all this. The less that person can assert himself, the less likely I will be able to go home.

from my private journal as Kerry Burgess: August 13, 2006

OF COURSE! May 9th! It is 5/9! I believe that Thomas Ray was born 3/3/59, so it is logical that 5/9 would be the day I start to remember.
