The All-New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show

Always lame when people on the television news, the man on the street interviewed, imitates the sound of gunfire. That's the lamest.

Phew. That's almost discouraging to hear the live television news rebroadcast the radio broadcasts of the Spokane Valley police officers during their reported gun-battle.

I don't know what sort of pressures those guys were under but I can remember feeling something like panic, as a teenager kid, when I first shot a snake lurking near me. A deer was equally dangerous, supposedly, but it was much easier to spot. You don't just walk up and almost step on 9-point-antlered deer. That guy on the news sounded like he was about to pass out from hyperventilation and adrenalin. Not really someone I think should be popping off 9mm rounds in a crowded urban area.

from my private journal as Kerry Burgess: 2006

I started wondering yesterday whether that Letter of Commendation from Captain Chandler actually refers to this event. I have been thinking of that part "displaying exception skill and resourcefulness, Petty Officer Burgess' attention to detail, devotion to duty and continued support were vital to ensuring near perfect operability of the MK152 GMFC computers" or words to that effect.

Interior Communications

The 1JV circuit

This was the primary maneuvering and docking circuit and connected the captain with such stations as the forward and after engine rooms, the forecastle, the fantail, the different mooring stations and the after steering station.

Over this circuit the captain communicated with everyone who had anything to do with the movement of the ship, direction or speed.
