Excursion 10/23/2019, part 10

I rolled over the top of the hill under that bridge in Gibbs and immediately saw the city police presence.

Would have made a great place for a drunk stop, if that had been an automobile road.

I just had to stop and capture an image because I felt certain there would be something interesting turn up in the code pattern many hours later when I got back here to this desk.

I felt inconspicuous stopping there to take a picture because I don't like to take pictures of the police. Police have enough to worry about and there are too many little punk sissy bitches out there trying to use their cameras to find vengeance on a society that doesn't reward incompetence.

And then the camera fizzled (updated in colorful reference moments before I make this blog post) with the first image, which sometimes happens with that small camera and its autofocus in bright sunlight. So I had to stand there longer and capture a second image.

I was left with an impression that the Coeur d'Alene city police are approachable people, when I stopped to ask a question.

The police dog however, seemed quite vicious, making me think to check "Stephen King's The Stand" when I got back to my desk.

The entire encounter was uneventful. I thought about it more because of the likelihood I would roll up on such activity at the very place I had recorded imagery the last time I was through there and the symbolic elements I have developed about that specific location.

My first thoughts have been about Stargate. Something still just doesn't satisfy me with the results I have so far found.

Later today, in the shower thinking more about this, I thought of something else to check.

Then later: All this time. All this time, I've been using the wrong number for my participant as a competitor in Ironman Utah in 2002. The results I found on the internet list me as competitor number 754. But the photo of me is clearly number 758.

Quotes

[en route to Russia]

Cabot: Jack... Jack, what are you doing?

Jack: Oh... I had a date tonight, so I had to call and cancel...

Cabot: Well, don't be stupid! Tell her where you're going. In fact, tell her who you work for. She'll be impressed.

Jack: [to Cathy, over the phone] OK. I work for the CIA, and the Director asked me at the last minute to come with him to Russia with him to do a nuclear arms inspection. Hello?

Cathy: That is so lame.

Jack: No, I swear, it's because of the START treaty, we get to inspect to make sure they're really decommissioning their nuclear arsenal...

[Cathy hangs up]

Jack: Hello... hello?

[Cabot starts laughing]

Jack: Thanks. Thanks a lot.
