Religion.

False Hope for cowards.

Cowards terrified of mortality.

DATA: Your efforts to break the encryption code will not be successful. Nor will your attempt to assimilate me into your collective.

BORG QUEEN: Brave words. I've heard them before from thousands of species across thousands of worlds ...since long before you were created. But now they are all Borg.

Kerry Burgess updated his status.

Any time someone tries to use a so-called smart person in a story about religion - which is usually about a scientist trying to SELL a book - for MONEY - I want to say "Stop right there".

I read the first few lines of the review from the Harvard Crimson about that book. I also tend to stop reading any time someone uses the word "spirituality" because that's a very ignorant notion, in terms of how I believe is the perception of most people.

Once again, people are terrified of mortality. Any time someone tries to talk about life beyond death then that is simply an expression of their fear of dying.

"Spirits" is just another expression of ignorant people about their fear of mortality.

Myth

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A myth is any traditional story or legend, especially one that is currently understood as being exaggerated or fictitious. It is derived from the Greek word mythos, which simply means "story". Mythology can refer either to the study of myths, or to a body or collection of myths. A myth also can be a story to explain why something exists.

Human cultures usually include a cosmogonical or creation myth, concerning the origins of the world, or how the world came to exist. The active beings in myths are generally gods and goddesses, heroes and heroines, or animals and plants. Most myths are set in a timeless past before recorded time or beginning of the critical history. A myth can be a story involving symbols that are capable of multiple meanings.

A myth is a sacred narrative because it holds religious or spiritual significance for those who tell it.

Captain KIRK: Excuse me. ...I'd just like to ask a question. ...What does God need with a starship?

GOD: Bring the ship closer.

KIRK: I said ...'What does God need with a starship?'
