One clear conscious memory that seems to very well narrow down the date range is my memory of the weather conditions around that time.
This text by me represents contiguously in form my best effort to determine that precise calendar day.
I clearly remember unseasonable heat just as I was moving into that new apartment in Kent in the Seattle suburbs.
I've checked two sources of historical weather for Seattle in the year 2004.
Both point to August 9th in 2004 as the peak of that heat wave I recall and that seems to me the most likely timeframe.
I remember staying at the Crossland in the south area of Seattle. On Pacific Highway.
Looking now at Google Maps, I see Normandy Park. On the coast of the bay. Then farther south is Des Moines. That sounds right. I see Saltwater State Park there on the edge of the bay. I drove my Jeep Wrangler there for a few minutes one day during the period after I left Spokane Valley for Seattle and I was waiting for my apartment in Kent to become available. Not sure how long that was. Maybe two days.
So that's the area I stayed. I remember the heat. I remember driving with the plastic windows removed from my Jeep as I traveled across from the hotel to Kent and I remember driving on Smith. The traffic was backed up there for a while, might have been a freight train. The heat and automobile pollution was annoying. Yeah, was a freight train that created a parking lot on Smith Street that day.
According to Weather Underground records for Seattle, the recorded maximum temperature for the month of August in 2004 was 92 degrees on August 9th.
In the flat valley area was probably hotter than 92. The official records are at the airport and I would think the valley floor would be warmer. The valley of the Green River.
Long ago, I was very informed of the weather conditions in that area because I often trained on my bicycle in that area.
The maximum for August 10th was 84 degrees.
The maximum recorded for August 8th was 79 degrees.
Turns out I've already looked a few times at August 10th 2004. That *could* be the precise day I moved into that apartment in Kent. I had driven across the state in the weeks earlier to make the arrangements before driving back to Spokane Valley. Then later I packed up my meager belonging in my Jeep Wrangler, attached my beloved 2002 silver titanium Litespeed road bicycle to the rack on the spare-tire on the back and I took off, disappointed I had to leave, but certainly ready to get out of that tiny room and its walls closing in on me, where I had waited for months.
Post-blog post update: That would seem to explain "Detective Murray". I have puzzled over that for years. My first stop in Kent was that hotel in the Seattle suburb Des Moines. I never believed that police officer was actually named Detective Murray. I remember how I felt at the time. I went back after initially making this post and made a check for an event in Iowa I have theorized about for over a decade now in my suspicions about The Horrible Truth.

Kerry Burgess updated his status.
I still don't know the precise date I moved back to Seattle from living that summer in Spokane Valley (where I am now again) on the other side of the state.
I've documented my recent discoveries about the calendar date 3/1/2004, when I escaped Redmond for the Crossland in Spokane Valley and how devastating and crushing that fact is to the lazy, indifferent readers out there.
Don't know if I will ever be able to re-discover the calendar date I loaded my meager possessions into my Jeep Wrangler and moved out of the Crossland and back to Seattle.
Could it have been this calendar date?
Don't know. Could have been. I can still clearly remember watching the first episode of the "Lost" television series after I moved to the City of Kent in the Seattle suburbs and moved to an apartment there. I remember that I had not lived there very long. I remember that I didn't know about the premiere of "Lost" or forgot it or something, and I didn't watch the first episode until they rebroadcast it on that following Saturday night, which the calendar tells me was September 25, 2004. I remember so well one other Saturday, IMDB.com says was November 13th, when Modest Mouse was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live and I remember so well how much I enjoyed their music.
Was that day in September when I moved back to Seattle? Don't know if I will ever know that precise date.
