§ 1505. Further review
(a) Subsequent Review.— The Secretary concerned shall conduct subsequent inquiries into the whereabouts and status of any person determined by the Secretary under section 1504 of this title to be in a missing status.
(b) Frequency of Subsequent Reviews.— The Secretary concerned shall conduct inquiries into the whereabouts and status of a person under subsection (a) upon receipt of information that may result in a change of status of the person. The Secretary concerned shall appoint a board to conduct such inquiries.
(c) Action Upon Discovery or Receipt of Information.—
(1) Whenever any United States intelligence agency or other element of the Government finds or receives information that may be related to a missing person, the information shall promptly be forwarded to the office established under section 1501 of this title.
(2) Upon receipt of information under paragraph (1), the head of the office established under section 1501 of this title shall as expeditiously as possible ensure that the information is added to the appropriate case file for that missing person and notify
(A) the designated missing person’s counsel for that person, and
(B) the primary next of kin and any previously designated person for the missing person of the existence of that information.
(3) The head of the office established under section 1501 of this title, with the advice of the missing person’s counsel notified under paragraph (2), shall determine whether the information is significant enough to require a board review under this section.
(d) Conduct of Proceedings.— If it is determined that such a board should be appointed, the appointment of, and activities before, a board appointed under this section shall be governed by the provisions of section 1504 of this title with respect to a board appointed under that section.

§ 948q. Charges and specifications
(a) Charges and Specifications.— Charges and specifications against an accused in a military commission under this chapter shall be signed by a person subject to chapter 47 of this title under oath before a commissioned officer of the armed forces authorized to administer oaths and shall state—
(1) that the signer has personal knowledge of, or reason to believe, the matters set forth therein; and
(2) that such matters are true in fact to the best of the signer’s knowledge and belief.
(b) Notice to Accused.— Upon the swearing of the charges and specifications in accordance with subsection (a), the accused shall be informed of the charges and specifications against the accused as soon as practicable.

In regard to his companions his mind wavered between two opinions, according to his mood. Sometimes he inclined to believing them all heroes. In fact, he usually admired in secret the superior development of the higher qualities in others. He could conceive of men going very insignificantly about the world bearing a load of courage unseen, and although he had known many of his comrades through boyhood, he began to fear that his judgment of them had been blind. Then, in other moments, he flouted these theories, and assured him that his fellows were all privately wondering and quaking.
His emotions made him feel strange in the presence of men who talked excitedly of a prospective battle as of a drama they were about to witness, with nothing but eagerness and curiosity apparent in their faces. It was often that he suspected them to be liars.
He did not pass such thoughts without severe condemnation of himself. He dinned reproaches at times. He was convicted by himself of many shameful crimes against the gods of traditions.
In his great anxiety his heart was continually clamoring at what he considered the intolerable slowness of the generals. They seemed content to perch tranquilly on the river bank, and leave him bowed down by the weight of a great problem. He wanted it settled forthwith. He could not long bear such a load, he said. Sometimes his anger at the commanders reached an acute stage, and he grumbled about the camp like a veteran.

The youth fell back in the procession until the tattered soldier was not in sight. Then he started to walk on with the others.
But he was amid wounds. The mob of men was bleeding. Because of the tattered soldier's question he now felt that his shame could be viewed. He was continually casting sidelong glances to see if the men were contemplating the letters of guilt he felt burned into his brow.
At times he regarded the wounded soldiers in an envious way. He conceived persons with torn bodies to be peculiarly happy. He wished that he, too, had a wound, a red badge of courage.

I do remember that I was living in that apartment in Redmond and that I mailed the letter in 2003. For a time this pursuing recollection of the tattered man took all elation from the youth's veins. He saw his vivid error, and he was afraid that it would stand before him all his life. He took no share in the chatter of his comrades, nor did he look at them or know them, save when he felt sudden suspicion that they were seeing his thoughts and scrutinizing each detail of the scene with the tattered soldier.
Yet gradually he mustered force to put the sin at a distance. And at last his eyes seemed to open to some new ways. He found that he could look back upon the brass and bombast of his earlier gospels and see them truly. He was gleeful when he discovered that he now despised them.
With this conviction came a store of assurance. He felt a quiet manhood, nonassertive but of sturdy and strong blood. He knew that he would no more quail before his guides wherever they should point. He had been to touch the great death, and found that, after all, it was but the great death. He was a man.
So it came to pass that as he trudged from the place of blood and wrath his soul changed. He came from hot plowshares to prospects of clover tranquilly, and it was as if hot plowshares were not. Scars faded as flowers.

I have also been thinking about something my doctor said to me last year when I was in-patient at the VA. After they did a cat-scan on me, he told me something about the results. I assume he told me everything was ok, but now that I think about it, I can't remember him telling me that, but I feel as though he did. What I do remember is wondering why he said something about not being able to read those scans himself. I thought later that could mean he was trying to cover himself because anyone looking at the scan could probably see that something was unusual. It is probably the RFID chip
That shows up on the scan.

After a time he began to sidle near to the youth, and in a diffident way try to make him a friend. His voice was gentle as a girl's voice and his eyes were pleading. The youth saw with surprise that the soldier had two wounds, one in the head, bound with a blood-soaked rag, and the other in the arm, making that member dangle like a broken bough.
After they had walked together for some time the tattered man mustered sufficient courage to speak. "Was pretty good fight, wa'n't it?" he timidly said. The youth, deep in thought, glanced up at the bloody and grim figure with its lamblike eyes. "What?"
"Was pretty good fight, wa'n't it?"
"Yes," said the youth shortly. He quickened his pace.
But the other hobbled industriously after him. There was an air of apology in his manner, but he evidently thought that he needed only to talk for a time, and the youth would perceive that he was a good fellow.
"Was pretty good fight, wa'n't it?" he began in a small voice, and the he achieved the fortitude to continue. "Dern me if I ever see fellers fight so. Laws, how they did fight! I knowed th' boys 'd like it when they onct got square at it. Th' boys ain't had no fair chanct up t' now, but this time they showed what they was. I knowed it 'd turn out this way. Yeh can't lick them boys. No, sir! They 're fighters, they be."
He breathed a deep breath of humble admiration. He had looked at the youth for encouragement several times. He received none, but gradually he seemed to get absorbed in his subject.
"I was talkin' 'cross pickets with a boy from Georgie, onct, an' that boy, he ses, 'Your fellers 'll all run like hell when they onct hearn a gun,' he ses. 'Mebbe they will,' I ses, 'but I don't b'lieve none of it,' I ses; 'an' b'jiminey,' I ses back t' 'um, 'mebbe your fellers 'll all run like hell when they onct hearn a gun,' I ses. He larfed. Well, they didn't run t' day, did they, hey? No, sir! They fit, an' fit, an' fit."
His homely face was suffused with a light of love for the army which was to him all things beautiful and powerful.
After a time he turned to the youth. "Where yeh hit, ol' boy?" he asked in a brotherly tone.
The youth felt instant panic at this question, although at first its full import was not borne in upon him.
"What?" he asked.
"Where yeh hit?" repeated the tattered man.

As the plodded on the tattered soldier continued to talk. "Besides, if I died, I wouldn't die th' way that feller did. That was th' funniest thing. I'd jest flop down, I would. I never seen a feller die th' way that feller did.
"Yeh know Tom Jamison, he lives next door t' me up home. He's a nice feller, he is, an' we was allus good friends. Smart, too. Smart as a steel trap. Well, when we was a-fightin' this atternoon, all-of-a-sudden he begin t' rip up an' cuss an' beller at me. 'Yer shot, yeh blamed infernal!'--he swear horrible--he ses t' me. I put up m' hand t' m' head an' when I looked at m' fingers, I seen, sure 'nough, I was shot. I give a holler an' begin t' run, but b'fore I could git away another one hit me in th' arm an' whirl' me clean 'round. I got skeared when they was all a-shootin' b'hind me an' I run t' beat all, but I cotch it pretty bad. I've an idee I'd a been fightin' yit, if t'was n't fer Tom Jamison."
Then he made a calm announcement: "There's two of 'em--little ones--but they 're beginnin' t' have fun with me now. I don't b'lieve I kin walk much furder."
They went slowly on in silence. "Yeh look pretty peek'ed yerself," said the tattered man at last. "I bet yeh 've got a worser one than yeh think. Ye'd better take keer of yer hurt. It don't do t' let sech things go. It might be inside mostly, an' them plays thunder. Where is it located?" But he continued his harangue without waiting for a reply. "I see a feller git hit plum in th' head when my reg'ment was a-standin' at ease onct. An' everybody yelled to 'im: 'Hurt, John? Are yeh hurt much?' 'No,' ses he. He looked kinder surprised, an' he went on tellin' 'em how he felt. He sed he didn't feel nothin'. But, by dad, th' first thing that feller knowed he was dead. Yes, he was dead--stone dead. So, yeh wanta watch out. Yeh might have some queer kind 'a hurt yerself. Yeh can't never tell. Where is your'n located?"
The youth had been wriggling since the introduction of this topic. He now gave a cry of exasperation and made a furious motion with his hand. "Oh, don't bother me!" he said. He was enraged against the tattered man, and could have strangled him. His companions seemed ever to play intolerable parts. They were ever upraising the ghost of shame on the stick of their curiosity. He turned toward the tattered man as one at bay. "Now, don't bother me," he repeated with desperate menace.
"Well, Lord knows I don't wanta bother anybody," said the other. There was a little accent of despair in his voice as he replied, "Lord knows I 've gota 'nough m' own t' tend to."

I had that dream again about the house I bought in South Carolina back in the early '90s. I loved that place, it was quiet and relaxing. That house is always the central element in dreams I have sometime. There are usually variations to the situation, but the house is always there. And there is usually another element to the dream. In the dream, I discover that I still own the house and I can go back there any time I want, even at the very moment I realize it is still there. It is a great feeling to know I can sleep there that very night if I want to.

The other dream I had was about fighting some kind of aliens. I'm not sure if this dream happened before the one I wrote about above or if it happened later. In this dream, I am still in the Navy, but I am wearing some kind of camoflauge uniform, maybe army or marines. These aliens have invaded a subway and there are a lot of travelers around in danger. I am about to drop from exhaustion after 36 hours of fighting, we have been retreating and I am separated from the other soldiers. I am carrying two heavy packs, trying to find another unit to group up with, with passengers stream through the facility, they are even getting on the trains as some of them are still coming through. I have lost my rifle somewhere. I still have plenty of ammo, but I can't find a rifle. A woman at a coffee kisok says something to me that I don't remember, she has dried blood on her hands as she is preparing coffee. Then I am outside and I have found an armory where I get another rifle. I start heading back to the subway. A woman drives up in a car and asks me if I am who she thinks I am. But I can't remember seeing her actually in the car, all I can remember is seeing her buried in the dirt with only her talking face exposed. That is all I remember.

A methodical man, Ibrahim had planned and memorized every detail of his task over a period of months, but still he had a checklist in his pocket. He unfolded it now and set it next to his hand on the master supervisory control board. Tolkaze looked around at the status displays to orient himself, then paused.
From his back pocket he took his most treasured personal possession, half of his grandfather's Koran, and opened it to a random page. It was a passage in The Chapter of the Spoils. His grandfather having been killed during the futile rebellions against Moscow, his father shamed by helpless subservience to the infidel state, Tolkaze had been seduced by Russian schoolteachers into joining their godless system. Others had trained him as an oil-field engineer to work at the State's most valuable facility in Azerbaijan. Only then had the God of his fathers saved him, through the words of an uncle, an "unregistered" imam who had remained faithful to Allah and safeguarded this tattered fragment of the Koran that had accompanied one of Allah's own warriors. Tolkaze read the passage under his hand:

Tolkaze smiled, certain that it was the final Sign in a plan being executed by hands greater than his own. Serene and confident, he began to fulfill his destiny.
First the gasoline. He closed sixteen control valves - the nearest of them three kilometers away - and opened ten, which rerouted eighty million liters of gasoline to gush out from a bank of truck-loading valves. The gasoline did not ignite at once. The three had left no pyrotechnic devices to explode this first of many disasters. Tolkaze reasoned that if he were truly doing the work of Allah, then his God would surely provide.
And so He did. A small truck driving through the loading yard took a turn too fast, skidded on the splashing fuel, and slid broadside into a utility pole. It only took one spark ... and already more fuel was spilling out into the train yards.
With the master pipeline switches, Tolkaze had a special plan. He rapidly typed in a computer command, thanking Allah that Rasul was so skillful and had not damaged anything important with his rifle. The main pipeline from the nearby production field was two meters across, with many branchlines running to all of the production wells. The oil traveling in those pipes had its own mass and its own momentum supplied by pumping stations in the fields. Ibrahim's commands rapidly opened and closed valves. The pipeline ruptured in a dozen places, and the computer commands left the pumps on. The escaping light crude flowed across the production field, where only one more spark was needed to spread a holocaust before the winter wind, and another break occurred where the oil and gas pipelines crossed together over the river Ob'.
"The greenskins are here!!" Rasul shouted a moment before the quick-response team of KGB border guards stormed up the staircase. A short burst from the Kalashnikov killed the first two, and the rest of the squad stopped cold behind a turn in the staircase as their young sergeant wondered what the hell they had walked into.
Already, automatic alarms were erupting around him in the control room. The master status board showed four growing fires whose borders were defined by blinking red lights. Tolkaze walked to the master computer and ripped out the tape spool that contained the digital control codes. The spares were in the vault downstairs, and the only men within ten kilometers who knew its combination were in this room. The whole building shook with the explosion of a gasoline storage tank two kilometers away.
The crashing sound of a hand grenade announced another move by the KGB troops. Rasul returned fire, and the screams of dying men nearly equaled the earsplitting fire-alarm klaxons. Tolkaze hurried over to the corner. The floor there was slick with blood. He opened the door to the electrical fusebox, flipped the main circuit breaker, then fired his pistol into the box. Whoever tried to set things right would also have to work in the dark.
He was done. Ibrahim saw that his massive friend had been mortally hit in the chest by grenade fragments. He was wobbling, struggling to stay erect at the door, guarding his comrades to the last.
"'I take refuge in the Lord of the worlds,'" Tolkaze called out defiantly to the security troops, who spoke not a word of Arabic. "The King of men, the God of men, from the evil of the whispering devil -'"
The KGB sergeant leaped around the lower landing and his first burst tore the rifle from Rasul's bloodless hands. Two hand grenades arched through the air as the sergeant disappeared back around the corner.
There was no place - and no reason - to run. Mohammet and Ibrahim stood immobile in the doorway as the grenades bounced and skittered across the tiled floor. Around them the whole world seemed to be catching fire, and because of them, the whole world really would.

As Director, Ms. Hylton leads a key Department of Justice (DOJ) law enforcement agency responsible for federal judicial security; fugitive apprehension; witness security; asset forfeiture; and prisoner transportation, custody, and safety.

Gates finally gets his Harvard degree

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Harvard University's most famous dropout finally got his college degree.
Bill Gates, who co-founded Microsoft Corp. and became the world's richest man after leaving Harvard in 1975, returned today to accept an honorary degree and speak at the school's 356th commencement.
"I will be changing my job next year," Gates said
"It's revolting to learn that some lives are seen as worth saving and others are not," Gates said.

President Obama also announced his intent to appoint several individuals as Members of the President’s Committee on the National Medal of Science. Their biographies are below.
President Obama said, “I am confident that these impressive men and women will make valued additions to this administration. I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead.”
President Obama announced his intent to nominate the following individuals to key administration posts:
Stacia A. Hylton, Nominee for Director, United States Marshals Service
Stacia A. Hylton currently operates her own consulting company, Hylton Kirk & Associates, after having served in federal law enforcement within the Department of Justice for 29 years. Previously, she served as the Federal Detention Trustee from 2004-2010. Prior to that, she served in a number of leadership positions within the U.S. Marshals Service from 1980-2004, including Acting Deputy Director, Assistant Director Prisoner Operations, Chief Deputy in the District of South Carolina, and Chief of Judicial Security Programs. She is a recipient of the Attorney General’s Edmund J. Randolph Award and the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Service. Ms. Hylton attended Northeastern University where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1983.

"In two parts. The first is purely political, to work against the United States. The second part, immediately before the war begins, is from KGB. You know it, from KGB Group Nord. We reviewed it two years ago."
Rozhkov grunted. Group Nord was an ad hoc committee of KGB department chiefs, first assembled by then-chief of the KGB Yuri Andropov in the mid-1970s. Its purpose was to research political and psychological operations aimed at undermining Western will. Its specific plan to shake the NATO military and political structure in preparation for a shooting war was Nord's proudest example of legerdemain.

A furious air battle had been raging over northern Norway for almost twenty hours, with losses heavy on both sides. The Norwegians had started the war with scarcely a hundred modern fighters. Time travel is the concept of moving between different points in time in a manner analogous to moving between different points in space. I feel like that is part of the manipulation. I have noticed something similar in real dreams, but I don't think it is the same here. I think they are disquising themselves in my dream for some reason. Anyway, if it really was her, she actually doesn't have to worry about dressing down if we were to go out. Of course, if I have my way, it would be a moot point because why would I want to go out with her when I am in such an ugly situation? At the minimum, I would want to be back to work so that I have regained some independence. And hey, next time you are in my dreams, dear imaginary girlfriend, how about wearing a bikini? Red would be good, or yellow maybe. That would be sweet!

I wonder if I created that dialog in the 1996 "Independence Day" about how "Hiller" would not get to fly the space shuttle if he married a stipper because I was planning to launch my final mission to date on 2/11/1997. But the dialog I think is about Kerry Burgess and how he was going to marry a woman who worked as a stripper. I had a consistent and extensive line of thought recently that the woman is Lindsay Dawn Mackenzie but then I looked her age and she seems too young. Her age could be wrong though and to make her look a couple years younger.

I was thinking later that as Thomas Reagan, I was introducing Kerry Burgess to women that my talent agency represents and Mackenzie was one of the women he was dating. I have no idea why this all contradicts my memory.
But then, yes, I do understand: I don't have the true memory of Kerry Burgess because I am not Kerry Burgess. I am living the life of a version of Kerry Burgess that I constructed from his real life and from a cover story I created for him. It is no different than these other people I write about, just that Kerry Burgess did not have a public persona.

She is from Britain, too, I vaguely recall reading a long time ago. That would make sense that I would set up Kerry Burgess with her around the time of the 1994 "Princess Caraboo" and especially important the film "Timecop" that premiered the same day and with his wife's confusion about why he looked older than he should. I also recall that Mackenzie started off as a "Page 2" girl which is something about a newspaper in Britain that has a photo at different times of a woman with her bare chest exposed and so that makes even more sense.

Perhaps one of the most intriguing individuals associated with the Titanic because of the many unique events that happened both before and after the sinking. As a young man, he assured his sister the sea wasn't wet enough to drown him and went on to prove just that. Charles Lightoller's career at sea began in 1888 at the age of thirteen and was a harrowing one almost from the start. On his second voyage, his ship was demasted twice before running aground on a deserted island. In 1898, lured by the promise of riches, Lightoller left the sea to become one of the thousands who moiled for gold in the Klondike. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful and after a brief stint as a cowboy, he rode the rails back east as a hobo before returning to England broke.
Eager to resume his sailing career, he joined the White Star Line around the turn of the century and was assigned as a junior officer on a run to Australia. It was on this run that he met his future wife Sylvia. He would later be assigned to the Titanic in 1912 and survived the ship's sinking by clinging to an overturned lifeboat in the freezing water with thirty other men all night before being rescued. Lightoller would survive still two more shipwrecks during World War I when the steamship Oceanic ran aground in 1914 and then again in 1918 when the destroyer Falcon. A month later, however, while commmanding the destroyer Garry, Lightoller rammed and sank a German U-Boat. Though badly damaged, the Garry remained afloat and Lightoller received a promotion for his actions.
After the war ended, Lightoller resumed service with the White Star Line, but found being associated with the Titanic had forever tainted him in his employer's eyes, dashing any hope of attaining a peacetime command. A disillusioned Lightoller quit the White Star Line and left the sea altogether, taking various jobs to support his family, including chicken farmer and owner of a guest home. The Lightoller family eventually acquired a small craft which Sylvia named the Sundowner, which was used by Lightoller, at the request of the British government, to survey the European coastline months before World War II broke out.
In June of 1940, he distinguished himself one final time by taking his beloved Sundowner across the English channel to rescue a hundred and twenty-seven men at the evacuation of Dunkirk. Lightoller spent his final years managing a boatyard used by the London River Police.

The communication radio in the elevator is broken but the guards, Lustig and Ramirez, observe the individuals via CCTV as events unfold. Tensions run high among those trapped, so Lustig calls the police and Detective Bowden assumes the case. Without being able to contact the individuals, he tries to work out who they are, but he can only account for four of them. Time is running out for the occupants of the elevator, as Bowden realizes he has to get them out quickly.

Meanwhile in a mens' room adjacent to the main lobby, Bowden finds a set of tools that Tony had brought in and briefly suspects he might be responsible for the elevator damage. His suspicions then suddenly turn to Ben when he realizes that the building's security company, Caraway Security, is owned by Sarah's husband. Aware of Ben's violent past, he suspects Ben was hired to kill Sarah by her husband to keep her from leaving him broke, and that the two other murders were orchestrated to make the entire episode appear as a random serial killing.

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina - Several Bosnian Serb military units called off meetings with NATO forces in the U.S.-controlled sector of Bosnia yesterday.
Bosnian Serbs gave no reason, but it follows the indictment Friday of a Bosnian Serb general for war crimes.
Gen. Djordje Djukic's arrest last month prompted Bosnian Serbs to sever relations with the NATO-led force in Bosnia. Ties were restored only after an emergency meeting of Balkan leaders in Rome.
Djukic was charged by the international war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, with the shelling of civilian targets during the 3 1/2-year siege of Sarajevo. More than 10,000 civilians were killed during the Bosnian Serb siege of the capital. The siege formally ended Thursday.

I remember that was around the time when Suzanne called me and wanted to know if I wanted to attend a Presentation Skills class at a Microsoft training facility. I remember that Wally Simpson, Technical Account Manager co-worker with the Music degree, was complaining because he had been higher on the waiting list than I was. I didn't overhear him saying that until after the class though so I went over there and I remember the instructor gave me a very good score, if not a perfect score, for the class.
That was all around the time Suzanne had asked me to pick up some CD-R's for her in Portland, Oregon, when I was down there on a business trip. The CD-R reminds me of the CDR abbreviation for U.S. Navy Commander. This was the same woman who was telling me something about how it was all right to have an affair with a married woman.
When I was sitting there in that bar in our office in historic Bellevue, Washington, in 1999, I told her I drove around in my blue Mazda RX-7 and solved crimes. Suzanne Morgan then looked across the table at Thomas Dawkins and asked him "What did he say?" and Thomas repeated what I had said. Later that evening, from my apartment at Oakwood, I wrote an email to Suzanne and commented that all the cigarette smoke in that bar had caused my face to turn red.
So anyway, after that first day of the Presentation Skills class, Suzanne invited me to a bar after work and I remember the Bonnie Raitt song "Let's Give Them Something To Talk About" was playing as Suzanne and I were sitting there in the bar. I thought about that the next day when I saw the "Nick Of Time" CD sitting on my desk at work, although that particular song released in a 1991 album, according to information on the internet.

United Airlines Flight 232 was a scheduled flight from Stapleton International Airport in Denver, Colorado, to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, with continuing service to Philadelphia International Airport. On July 19, 1989, the DC-10 (Registration N1819U) operating the route crash-landed in Sioux City, Iowa, after suffering catastrophic failure of its tail-mounted engine, which led to the loss of all flight controls. 111 people died in the accident
The crew guided the crippled jet to Sioux Gateway Airport and lined it up for landing on one of the runways. However, without flight controls, they were unable to slow down for landing, and were forced to attempt landing at much too high a speed and rate of descent. On touchdown, the aircraft broke apart, caught fire, and rolled over. The largest section came to rest in a cornfield next to the runway.
On final descent, the aircraft was going 240 knots and sinking at 1,850 feet per minute, while a safe landing would require 140 knots and 300 feet per minute. Fitch needed a seat for landing; Dvorak offered up his own, as it could be moved to a position behind the throttles. Dvorak sat in the cockpit's jumpseat for landing. Unfortunately, right before touchdown, the aircraft began a downward phugoid and veered right. The flight crew had no time to react. The tip of the right wing hit the runway first, spilling fuel, which ignited immediately. The tail section broke off from the force of the impact, and the rest of the aircraft bounced several times, shedding the landing gear and engine nacelles and breaking the fuselage into several main pieces. On the final impact the right wing was sheared off and the main part of the aircraft skidded sideways, rolled over on to its back, and slid to a stop upside-down in a corn field to the right of Runway 22. Witnesses reported that the aircraft cartwheeled, but the investigation did not confirm this. News reports that the aircraft cartwheeled were due to misinterpretation of the video of the crash that showed the flaming right wing tumbling end-over-end and the intact left wing, still attached to the fuselage, rolling up and over as the fuselage flipped over.
Of the 296 people on board, 111 died in the crash. Most were killed by injuries sustained in the multiple impacts, but 35 people in the middle fuselage section directly above the fuel tanks died from smoke inhalation in the post-crash fire. Of those, 24 had no traumatic blunt-force injuries. The majority of the 185 survivors were seated behind first class and ahead of the wings. Many passengers were able to walk out through the ruptures to the structure, and in many cases got lost in the high field of corn adjacent to the runway

The plan was that Delta Force operators would assault the target building (using MH-6 Little Bird helicopters) and secure the targets inside the building while four Ranger chalks (under the command of Capt. Michael D. Steele) would fast rope down from hovering MH-60L Black Hawk helicopters. The Rangers would then create a four-corner defensive perimeter around the target building while a column of nine Humvees and three five-ton trucks (under the command of Lt. Col. Danny McKnight) would arrive at the target building to take the entire assault team and their prisoners back to base. The entire operation was estimated to take no longer than 30 minutes.
The ground-extraction convoy was supposed to reach the captive targets a few minutes after the beginning of the operation. However, it ran into delays. Somali citizens and local militia formed barricades along the streets of Mogadishu with rocks and burning tires, blocking the convoy from reaching the Rangers and their captives. Aidid militiamen with megaphones shouting, "Kasoobaxa guryaha oo iska celsa cadowga!" ("Come out and defend your homes!").

Ed Gein, in full Edward Theodore Gein (born Aug. 27, 1906, Plainfield, Wis., U.S.—died July 26, 1984, Madison, Wis.), American serial killer whose gruesome crimes inspired popular books and films in the second half of the 20th century. Gein’s case gained worldwide notoriety, and his behaviour inspired both Robert Bloch’s powerful novel Psycho (1959) and two of the most influential horror films ever made, Psycho (1960), directed by Alfred Hitchcock and based on Bloch’s book, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).

The confessed killing of two little boys by their mother in Union, S.C., horrified the nation last week.
The incident may also have terrified youngsters across the country.
"Is Mommy going to kill me?" some children reportedly have been asking teachers, nannies, parents and older siblings in the wake of the deaths.
Susan V. Smith, 23, confessed last week to killing her sons, Michael, 3, and Alexander, 14 months, by plunging her car, with the boys still buckled in their safety seats, into a lake.

Rodenticide

Rodenticides are a category of pest control chemicals intended to kill rodents.
Single feed baits are chemicals sufficiently dangerous that the first dose is sufficient to kill.
Rodents are difficult to kill with poisons because their feeding habits reflect their place as scavengers. They will eat a small bit of something and wait, and if they don't get sick, they continue. An effective rodenticide must be tasteless and odorless in lethal concentrations, and have a delayed effect.
Anticoagulants
Anticoagulants are defined as chronic (death occurs after one to two weeks after ingestion of the lethal dose, rarely sooner), single-dose (second generation) or multiple-dose (first generation) rodenticides, acting by effective blocking of the vitamin K cycle, resulting in inability to produce essential blood-clotting factors — mainly coagulation factors II (prothrombin), VII (proconvertin), IX (Christmas factor) and X (Stuart factor).
In addition to this specific metabolic disruption, massive toxic doses of 4-hydroxycoumarin or 4-hydroxythiacoumarin and indandione anticoagulants cause damage to tiny blood vessels (capillaries), increasing their permeability, causing diffuse internal bleedings (haemorrhagias). These effects are gradual, developing over several days, but claims that they are painless are unfounded: in humans both warfarin poisoning and haemophilia commonly cause moderate to severe pain from bleeding into muscles and joints. In the final phase of the intoxication, the exhausted rodent collapses in hypovolemic circulatory shock or severe anemia and dies calmly. However, because of the duration of discomfort and pain before death it has been suggested that the use of rodenticides can be considered as inhumane.

The prosecution showed the jury two-videotape re-enactments of Susan Smith's burgundy Mazda rolling down the boat ramp and into the water. During the showing of the videotape of the car filling with water, Prosecutor Keith Giese commented that the rear of the car was rising while the front of the car was filling with water and that Michael and Alex would have faced the lake's water before the water engulfed them. The videotape re-enactment of Susan's Mazda submerging into the lake showed that it took a full six minutes for the car to fill with water before it became completely submerged, because the car's doors and windows were closed.
On Wednesday, July 27, 1995 the prosecution showed the jury pictures taken of Michael and Alex after they had been removed from the Mazda. Judge Howard only allowed photographs showing the brothers' discolored and decomposing legs and arms. The judge would not allow several photos showing the full effects of the nine-day submersion to be shown to the jury. After the presentation of the photos, the prosecution rested its case

5:20 p.m.:
Kaur joins a group of panicked, confused campers. They are running from the approaching gunman, his "POLICE" moniker crystal-clear to see from even middle distance.
"My first thought was: Why are the police shooting at us? What the hell?" she writes.
More than a dozen crowd into a dark corner of a camp building, and all lie down on the floor. She cries quietly — then sees her best friend from camp, a boy, through a window.
"I wondered if I should go out and bring him to me. I did not. I saw fear in his eyes," she writes.
5:25 p.m.:
Kaur says a burst of gunfire extremely close to the building triggers panic and the entire group leaps out of a far window. Several suffer injuries, including a girl with a broken ankle, but the shooter doesn't immediately pursue them. She takes new cover behind a low brick wall, telephones her mother on her cell phone, and sends a text to her father.
"Many were there," she writes. "I prayed, prayed, prayed. I hope that God saw me."
5:30 p.m.:
As the gunman picks off lone campers who run from their hiding spots as he draws near, many find themselves at the shoreline with only one apparent escape route — the water.
Kaur says the gunman tries to draw out the hiders near the brick wall, shouting, "I'm from the police!" Campers shout back, "Prove it!" He shoots at those who move. She lies still, on top of the legs of a teenage girl covered in blood.

The two teenagers were in an old minivan just before midnight, driving through their scrubby neighborhood on the outskirts of Tucson when they were pulled over by sheriff's deputies. The driver and his passenger, Jared Lee Loughner, both smelled strongly of pot. It was the eve of Loughner's 19th birthday. Deputies cited him for possessing drug paraphernalia, his first criminal charge as an adult.
Between that stop Sept. 9, 2007, and Jan. 8 of this year — the day he was arrested as a suspect in shootings that killed six and wounded 13, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, outside a Safeway store in Tucson — Loughner frequently acted and sounded like a young man in need of mental health intervention.
He'd been kicked out of school, was rejected by the Army and struggled to find work. He was fired from a volunteer job at an animal shelter. His Internet postings were hostile and incoherent, with certain themes repeated — a distrust of government and his college, the Constitution, illiteracy and "lucid dreaming." He alienated fellow players in an online game with disjointed, hostile posts, including one in which he called the physicist Stephen Hawking a "freaking retard" and equated rape with sex.
Interviews with friends, teachers and classmates, and reviews of school documents and law enforcement reports — plus Loughner's own writings and comments — depict a young man's downward spiral, slow at first, accelerating dramatically a year ago, and culminating with his arrest on suspicion of murder eight days ago.
Loughner, an only child, was born Sept. 10, 1988.

IN THE space of 48 hours Anders Behring Breivik emerged from the obscurity of an Oslo suburb to become the worst mass killer in peacetime Europe.
Breivik was born on February 13, 1979 and grew up in western Oslo where, until recently, he lived with his mother in the wealthy suburb of Skoyen. Superficially, his upbringing appears to have been both middle-class and unremarkable. He attended the Handelsgym High School in Oslo and graduated with a masters degree from the Oslo School of Management.
In his late teens, he completed compulsory national service, where he received military training and learnt how to shoot.

Having only my laptop to work on is seriously impeding my productivity.
I told the fire department employee, who I guess was a fireman, who came to investigate yesterday the fire alarm in my building that they should turn off the power to the building considering that the water flooding my floor by the broken water main on the
story was about to cover the electrical outlet strip on my floor but he was confident the circuit breaker would prevent anyone, including me, from getting electrocuted but I had no such confidence in a circuit breaker I had not even looked at and as far as I know that neither had he. They never did turn off the power.

I guess I know why today I was suddenly compelled to purchase a new toaster. Last year, my apartment flooded due to a fire sprinkler line that froze and burst, they tell me, and I threw away my toaster because all that crap from the apartment's above was streaming out throughout the ceiling. I used that toaster just about every day but I did not feel like replacing it all during this past year. Until today. Today I was suddenly compelled to purchase a new toaster and so I did. I wanted to pick up some other stuff but no, only the toaster. The toaster would be the only item on the electronic transaction I generated with my bank card because without the electronic transaction then it "wouldn't count" whatever that means. So just one hour before I went to see this film I bought a new toaster and I had it with me in my backpack after I sat down in the theatre to watch this film.

Fukushima's reactor cores still too hot to open
Six months after the disaster that caused three meltdowns, efforts to stabilize the Japanese nuclear power plant continue.

On 11 March, a magnitude-9.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Sendai in Japan, knocking out power at the nearby Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. In the hours and days that followed, three of the plant's six reactors melted down, triggering a series of explosions and fires at the site. Six months later, what progress has been made to stabilize the plant, and what is yet to be done?
What is happening at the site right now?
On any given day, 2,500-3,000 workers are on site. Many are cleaning up radioactive debris scattered by the explosions. Others are installing and operating systems to decontaminate radioactive water. Still others are erecting a shroud over the Unit 1 reactor, to prevent further contamination from the meltdown spreading to the environment. Similar covers may follow at Units 2 and 3, which also melted down (see Video).
Are the reactors stable?
Not entirely, but they are much more stable than they were six months ago. After the earthquake, the three reactors operating at the time shut down, but their uranium fuel continued to decay and release heat. The systems that keep the fuel cool in an emergency stopped working, and in the first hours after the accident the fuel became so hot that it probably melted. The melting is thought to have created a mess at the bottom of the reactors and released hydrogen gas that eventually ignited, causing explosions.

Q: Can nuclear explosions cause earthquakes?
A: On January 19, 1968, a thermonuclear test, codenamed Faultless, took place in the Central Nevada Supplemental Test Area. The codename turned out to be a poor choice of words because a fresh fault rupture some 1200 meters long was produced. Seismographic records showed that the seismic waves produced by the fault movement were much less energetic than those produced directly by the nuclear explosion.
Analysis of local seismic recordings (within a couple of miles) of nuclear tests at the Nevada Test Site shows that some tectonic stress is released simultaneously with the explosion. Analysis of the seismic wavefield generated by the blast shows the source can be characterized as 70-80 percent dilational (explosive-like) and 20-30 percent deviatoric (earthquake-like). The rock in the vicinity of the thermonuclear device is shattered by the passage of the explosions shock wave. This releases the elastic strain energy that was stored in the rock and adds an earthquake-like component to the seismic wavefield. The possibility of large Nevada Test Site nuclear explosions triggering damaging earthquakes in California was publicly raised in 1969. As a test of this possibility, rate of earthquake occurrence in northern California (magnitude 3.5 and larger) and the known times of the six largest thermonuclear tests (1965-1969) were plotted and it was obvious that no peaks in the seismicity occur at the times of the explosions. This is in agreement with theoretical calculations that transient strain from underground thermonuclear explosions is not sufficiently large to trigger fault rupture at distances beyond a few tens of kilometers from the shot point.

I started thinking specifically about me being on that roof because of a flood and then I read the other stuff I noted before it. I find that compelling because I was only looking for the part I wrote about imagining having to climb on that roof and I started thinking about that part after I scanned a headline about an asteroid that is supposed to fly near the planet Earth in the next few days. So thinking about that and "Bracing for close encounter with asteroid" and before I found these details in my journal that I was looking for, I started thinking that the delivery mechanism for the zombie plague is an asteroid. Or at least, I was thinking as I told people in the past after I make my pending time travel jump, that was the story in the newspapers. All the news media reports that the zombie apocalypse started because of an asteroid that hit the Pacific Ocean about thirty miles west of the coast of Washington State. As I imagined it, I saw the water from the tsunami approach my location but it stopped short of where I live. I thought further about how if I had stayed in downtown Seattle, and instead of moving, then the tsunami would have got me too. I also today, during the course of my pursuit of this line thought, discovered another compelling detail about where I live compared to Queen Anne hill. So as I told them after I make my pending time travel jump, I saw the zombies appear. They came out of the tsunami waters. The people who were killed by the tsunami became zombies. People in cemeteries that were flooded also converted to zombies and rose from the gravesites and began feasting on live human beings. The catastrophe was - will be - a lot more grotesque that what you see on television and movies. The zombies are fast and they do more than just take a quick bite. Maybe this what happens first. They need to convert as many humans as possible very quickly so the zombies on the leading edge of the zombie blitzkrieg will only take a quick bite out of a human and then move on to convert as many as possible. The plague does quickly consume the state of Washington so that makes sense.

Maybe this is the epicenter where something similar to that happens.
Some kind of rift in time-space, whatever that is, from which a lot of strange creatures emerge and begin wreaking havoc.
The US military, finally taking action, and all too late, hits this area with nuclear bombs but that fails and the energy actually aids the rift.
Why does that element have to happen though? That seems overly complicated. As though it is something generated simply for a film script.
If such a disaster is going to happen then why should it be so complicated as requiring a nuclear bomb strike?
Maybe it has something to do with the core element that is here currently, somewhere, that is the initial source of the rift of time-space that lets out the creatures into this environment. Something about how it is simply limited in certain details that I am not consciously aware of and so it needs the energy from that nuclear bomb to grow larger. It can take energy from any bomb, really, but the nuclear bomb strike occurs because the military tries shooting the creatures and the conventional bomb have little or no effect on the resiliant creatures.

I wonder if I will start getting specific information so I can publish those details on my blog which will then be a reference as to what does happen when it happens.
For one thing, I will be gone when it actually starts. I will not be part of this world any longer.

Perhaps there will be details I will predict, as I have already been doing to a certain extent, but those details will be considerably hard to explain away. For example, when my postings match details on television programs there is always, or usually always but not always, the chance that the television producers were feeding live packages in with pre-recorded segments and those packages incorporated details I published. The details I write about now that I would predict in the near future would be much more difficult to explain. The first thought that comes to mind is in predicting the weather but that seems boring. Whatever it is it would be subtle though. Using my alien spaceship explanation as guide, if the super-intelligent beings were simply out to convince humans of the existence of these super-intellient beings then they would just simply show up in their spaceships and that would be certainly convincing proof. But that is not what they are about.

So it has to be better than that. It has to be an order of magnitude greater than anything I have done so far. Something really compelling. The object arriving to block out the Sun is a good one but I don't think that is what I am grasping at this moment. That still might happen in the future.
Perhaps that observation back then was something of an echo of something else that happened and that has bearing on the future.

I was also thinking again recently about the series finale episode of "Battlestar Galactica" and of how "Starbuck" knew the precise jump coordinates for the planet Earth. I was wondering if that plot element is based on what I was writing in my journal about how I would write down the sequence of numbers that had been written onto nuclear bombs that were a few hundred feet above the surface of downtown Seattle and I would do all that because time was frozen and I was the only one who could still freely move around.

The first notion I had was that I would then travel to Tiger, Washington, and on a road next to the river there, I would paint those number sequences on the side of the road. I might have first thought I would paint them on the side of a building next to that place in the road I was thinking of. Then over time, I started thinking I would write the numbers down on the underside of a bridge.

Several weeks ago I was having a series of random thoughts and now I am wondering today why I was thinking about those details. I was imagining that Mike Mullen had ordered this area destroyed with nuclear bombs and 3 bombs were going to be dropped from ballistic missiles over the downtown Seattle area, the Bellevue city and then someplace a few miles south of here in perhaps the Kent area.

As I imagined those series of events, I imagined that he had created a series of numbers that would be written onto the actual bombs and he would be the only person that would know the full combination of numbers for those three bombs.
Somehow in those random thoughts, I was supposed to read those numbers off the bombs before detonation and then write them down somewhere. One possible approach was simply that I wrote it in a letter and mailed it to the Pentagon.
