WRAITH HALL.
WRAITH: What do you call yourself?
SUMNER: Colonel Marshall Sumner, United States Marine Corps.
WRAITH: So little fear. Is it valour ... or ignorance?
SUMNER: We travelled through the Stargate as peaceful explorers.
WRAITH: You must eat, yet you resist your hunger. Why?
SUMNER: Why have you taken my people prisoner?
WRAITH: You trespassed upon our feeding ground.
SUMNER: Feeding ground?
WRAITH: All living things must eat. In this I'm sure we are similar. You feel hunger even now -- I can sense it. Yet you resist. Why?
SUMNER: Why do you care?
WRAITH: Hunger is distasteful.
SUMNER (looking at Toran's corpse): Looks to me like the food didn't agree with him.
WRAITH: There we are quite dissimilar, Colonel Sumner. (She leans over Toran, running a long fingernail down his head.) We don't require our food to agree with us.
(Nearby, Sheppard -- with the help of his scanner -- is searching for the colonel.)
WRAITH: What do you call your world?
(Sumner refuses to answer. The Wraith repeats the question but this time her mouth doesn't move and the sound of her voice reverberates. She's clearly exerting telepathic force on Sumner, who struggles under the pressure.)
WRAITH (silently): What do you call your world?
SUMNER (struggling not to speak, but unable to resist): Earth.
WRAITH: It is not among our stars.
SUMNER (still struggling): No.
WRAITH: Tell me of Earth. How many more are there of your kind? (Again, Sumner tries not to let her into his mind.) Thousands? Millions? (delighted) More. Our feeding ground has not been so rich in ten thousand years.
(Sheppard is still making his way towards the hall.)
WRAITH: Your will is strong. (She points at Toran.) This one begged for his life.
SUMNER: Is that the kind of treatment I can expect for myself and my people?
WRAITH: As I have said, all living things must eat.
SUMNER: Then we're done talking.
WRAITH: I think not. Kneel. (Sumner doesn't move. She reaches towards his head. He grabs for her hand but she runs a fingernail down the side of his face. Her voice echoes in his mind.) Kneel. (Sumner falls to his knees.) I have not tasted such strength in so long.

Galileo Shows There May Be Liquid Oceans on Jupiter's Moons

The Galileo spacecraft has produced new evidence showing there may be liquid oceans beneath the icy crusts of two of Jupiter's moons, raising the possibility of life beyond Earth. Scientists said the spacecraft that has been orbiting Jupiter since 1995 has picked up data showing Europa and Callisto, two of the planet's moons, perturb its magnetic fields.
In a study published in today's Nature, Krishan Khurana and colleagues from UCLA, along with scientists from Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said neither of the moons has its own magnetic field, so the phenomena "may be best explained by the presence of salty liquid-water oceans." Scientists believe that life may exist or have existed in subsurface oceans.

Statement on the Release of American Infantrymen Held Prisoner by Serbian Authorities

I am pleased that our three American servicemen who have been held as prisoners by Serbian authorities have today been released and that they are now safely out of Serbia. I am grateful to Reverend Jackson and his delegation for helping to secure their freedom. All of America is anticipating their safe return.
As we welcome our soldiers home, our thoughts also turn to the over one million Kosovars who are unable to go home because of the policies of the regime in Belgrade. Today we reaffirm our resolve to persevere until they, too, can return with security and self-government.

MANILA — The world's population is growing by three people every second, and unless this is curbed most gains so far achieved in improving the quality of life could be swept away, the U.N. Population Fund said today.
Nafis Sadik, executive director of the fund, said progress in reducing birthrates has been slower than expected and the world's population, earlier expected to stabilize at 10.2 billion by the end of the next century, could head toward 14 billion people.
Sadik said in a speech at a media and economic seminar in Manila that world population, now 5.25 billion, is growing by around 250,000 daily. Between 90 million and 100 million people will be added every year during the 1990s, she said.
Over the decade, a billion people--a whole extra China--will be added, she said. In Asia, today's 3.1 billion people will become 3.7 billion by the end of the century, she added.
"By and large, the biggest increases will happen in the poorest countries--those least equipped to meet the needs of the new arrivals and invest in their future," Sadik said.
"The 1990s will see faster increases in human numbers than any decade in history. The 1990s will be a decisive decade. All that Asian countries have struggled to achieve could be swept away," she said.
Sadik told the One Asia Assembly that poverty and rapid population growth in rural areas have combined to weaken the pace of development, dimming prospects for increased employment and threatening food supply.
Sadik said a key factor in the population problem was the role given to women. She said improvements in women's status, their access to education, health and the means of family planning are the best and quickest way to reduce population growth rates.

ALIEN PLANET. ANCIENT CITY. Teyla has brought Sheppard to the entrance to an underground cavern. She picks up a torch from its wall bracket and walks deeper into the entrance.
TEYLA: I used to play here as a child. I believe this is where the survivors hid from the Wraith during the last great attack.
(She turns her attention to the torch. Sheppard takes out a lighter.)
SHEPPARD: Let me.
(As he flicks the lighter into life, Teyla takes out a device of her own, aims it at the torch and a flame shoots towards it and lights the torch.)
TEYLA: We mastered fire long ago.
SHEPPARD (closing his lighter): Guess so!
(They walk deeper into the brick-lined cavern. Something small on the ground reflects in the light. Sheppard spots it and picks it up. It's a pendant on a chain.)
SHEPPARD: What's this?
(Teyla looks round and gasps in delight.)
TEYLA: I lost this years ago. How did you…?
SHEPPARD: It was just lying over there. It was reflecting off the light. (He fastens the pendant around her neck. As he takes his hands away Teyla puts her hand to the pendant, staring at him. He turns away and shines the light from his P-90 at drawings on the walls.) Someone's been busy, you know?

You know what's confusing me? I thought about this for a couple minutes and my confusion must be from hallucinations. I would have sworn I wrote in my journal about the night I put the medals in her purse without her seeing me do it. Maybe I did write about it and now I can't find it again. I don't know. I can still visualize it. I think I am visualizing a series of thoughts from a few years ago, back in the year 2011. I keep seeing myself in Columbia in the year 1997 and I was recently promoted to lieutenant colonel and I was wearing the uniform of the United States Marine Corps and I still can visualize that line of thought of the last words I said to her when I put on my cover as I walked to the door and left and I went to Fort Jackson and I never came back.

In that line of thought last weekend about Kerry Burgess, which all happened, I feel certain before I watched the premiere of the "The Walking Dead" television series, I thought over in my mind of the things he and I talked about. He was supposed to make contact with some group, which in some line of thought would immediately show up here and knock on the door and ask for him, while other times he would make the contact first to that group. We talked about the differences he could see from what he knew from 16 years ago and by far the greatest change are the flat screen monitors and television and we discussed some other technology details, such as flash drives, but not much else had really changed that much.
One consistent line of thought that I thought over several times probably over the course of about a day, was that he was the one who would drive me out to Tiger, Washington, and he didn't know why but that was what he was going to do. He made a call, got some transportation and we drove out through the night in a white Toyota pickup truck that I guess was the Tundra model. He didn't know why we were going there but when we got there, we stopped at that Riverside Cemetery. I walked out into the cemetery and the dead people started rising from under the ground and they were restored to the appearance when they died. They were mingling around and I talked to the first one and that dead person could not see Kerry Burgess as he stood near the pickup truck near the highway but that dead person could see a person who had wandered nearby and was looking at us. The dead person went over to that other person and something happened in that the dead person took over the body of that unidentified person who had wander over to look at us. The person then became a bloodthirsty zombie who still could not see Kerry Burgess and I guess that zombie then went off to infect other humans. As I walked through the cemetery, other dead people began to rise from under the ground and they mingled around until I told them they were free and they all went off somewhere. Kerry Burgess drove me back to here although we stopped at another cemetery along the way and the process repeated it and when we got back here I walked out into that cemetery nearby and the same thing happened there too and I thought about a lot of details and I don't think that line of thought extended beyond that point. Oh, yeah, Kerry Burgess had access to a house and I stayed there in that house and I watched the news for developments.
