Since launching her bid for president Hillary Clinton has been a vocal critic of for-profit schools, pledging in speeches across the country to "crack down on predatory schools" and help students drowning in student loan debt.
"If they load students up with debt for programs that don't lead to good paying jobs, students and taxpayers should not be the only ones left holding the bag," said Clinton in a campaign speech in New Hampshire.

As best I can recall, my first day on that Windows 95 telephone support assignment was 10/23/95, but I am not entirely certain of that date. All I remember is something about how I started work there precisely 2 months after Windows 95 released, but I don't see how that can be if it released 8/24/95. Maybe that release date is wrong. I do remember that I was in that first class for my 30th birthday on 11/2/95. I also remember sitting there at a computer during an exercise that used an image of Bill Gates. I edited the photo to make him look like a clown. Carol was sitting next to me, as she also did at the other desks, and laughed and told me I had missed my calling.

I was living on Dresden when I was contract working for Microsoft Charlotte, but I can't remember if I was living there when I started or if I was still living at Arrowood. I moved to Dresden because the rent on that apartment was a lot cheaper.

For the first time, NASA's Galileo spacecraft flew close to Jupiter's moon Callisto this morning (Nov. 4), passing within 1,104 kilometers (686 miles) of the stark, crater-studded natural satellite at 13:34 Universal Time (5:34 a.m. Pacific Standard Time).
The flyby was by far the closest any spacecraft has ever come to Callisto, the outermost of the four big moons orbiting Jupiter

GALILEO DISCOVERS MOON OF ASTEROID
The first-ever photograph of a moon of an asteroid, sent to Earth by NASA's Galileo spacecraft, was released by the space agency today.
The photo of Asteroid 243 Ida and its newly discovered natural satellite was taken by Galileo as the spacecraft flew past Ida last Aug. 28. It was not transmitted to Earth until recently because the spacecraft is sending back data at a very slow rate.
According to team scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, Calif., the image together with data from Galileo's near-infrared mapping spectrometer are the first conclusive evidence that natural satellites of asteroids exist.
The discovery gives scientists an intriguing new clue in deciphering the origins and evolution of these ancient rocky bodies, most of which orbit the sun in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
Even so, many pieces of information on the newly found moon -- where it came from, how it came to be orbiting Ida and the details of that orbit -- are still unclear.
"It previously was thought that natural satellites of asteroids could form, but they probably weren't common," said Dr. Torrence Johnson, Galileo Project Scientist. "Having found one fairly quickly, we can say that they're probably more common than previously thought."

TESTS SHOW GALILEO PROBE SET FOR FLIGHT TO JUPITER
Key operational tests of the atmospheric probe on NASA's Jupiter-bound Galileo spacecraft have been successfully completed, demonstrating that the probe is in good health and ready for the first-ever descent into the atmosphere of an outer planet this December.
The just-completed testing followed NASA's first interrogation of the atmospheric probe in 27 months, and "it went perfectly," said Marcie Smith, Galileo probe project manager at NASA's Ames Research Center, Mountain View, CA. The probe now stands ready to separate from the Galileo orbiter spacecraft in July and then fly the remaining 50 million miles of its flight to Jupiter on a solo trajectory.
"We wanted to be sure the power system was in good shape, and it was," Smith said, "and so were the other probe systems."
"The recent probe tests showed that each of its three lithium battery modules were operating normally," said Charles Sobeck, probe engineering manager. Both accelerometers of the atmosphere structure experiment were normal. The sampling chamber of the Neutral Mass Spectrometer, which will analyze the composition of Jupiter's atmosphere, was pumped out in preparation for descent.
"Engineers also conducted an end-to-end test of the probe data compression system, and it worked very well," Sobeck said. Command systems for the two redundant data systems worked without a flaw, as did the data return link for the primary system.

Further data on the operation of the probe radio receiver aboard the orbiter will be returned and analyzed in coming weeks.
Upon its arrival at Jupiter on December 7, 1995, the probe willmake the first entry into the atmosphere of one of the solar system's giant gas planets.

GALILEO CROSSES BOUNDARY INTO JUPITER'S ENVIRONMENT
NASA's Galileo spacecraft radioed confirmation late this week that it has entered Jupiter's environment, crossing over the boundary from interplanetary space into the giant magnetic cocoon around Jupiter called the magnetosphere.
"With the spacecraft now in the magnetosphere, we begin our first direct measurements of the Jupiter system," said Galileo Project Manager William J. O'Neil at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, CA.
Data from Galileo's magnetometer confirmed that the spacecraft passed the milestone on Nov. 26 at a distance of about six million miles (nine million kilometers) from Jupiter's cloud tops, scientists announced today.
After a six-year voyage through the Solar System, Galileo is less than a week away from taking up permanent residence around Jupiter. On Thursday, Dec. 7, Galileo's previously deployed atmospheric probe will plunge into Jupiter's cloud tops at 5:56 p.m. EST and descend into the giant planet on a parachute.
Overhead, the Galileo spacecraft itself will collect and record data radioed from the probe during the 40- to 75-minute probe mission. At 8:19 p.m. EST, an hour after the probe mission is completed, Galileo will begin to fire its onboard rocket to slow down and allow itself to be captured into orbit around Jupiter to begin a two-year mission of closeup studies of Jupiter's large moons, the planet itself, and continuous measurements of the magnetosphere.
Jupiter's magnetosphere is like a giant bubble around the planet. A shock wave -- called "bowshock" after the wave that builds before the bow of a ship -- exists where the magnetosphere faces the stream of charged particles flowing outward from the Sun, called the solar wind. As the solar wind flows around Jupiter, the magnetosphere tapers off like a wind sock, with the whole invisible structure moving in response to buffeting by the solar wind.

Galileo scientists said they first saw signs of the bowshock on Nov. 16, but the bowshock apparently moved back and forth in response to alternate gusts and waning of the solar wind. "As the solar wind velocity increased, the shock moved inside the position of the spacecraft leaving Galileo again in the solar wind," said Dr. Margaret Galland Kivelson of the University of California at Los Angeles, the principal investigator on Galileo's magnetometer experiment.
This crossing and recrossing of the shockwave happened several times, she said, between the first shock encounter on Nov. 16, when the spacecraft was about nine million miles (15 million kilometers) from Jupiter, and Nov. 26 when Galileo finally crossed the main bowshock at 1 p.m. EST at about six million miles out from Jupiter's cloud tops.
The magnetometer science team also found the first direct evidence that the jovian magnetosphere was either unaffected or had recovered in the aftermath of last year's impact of Comet Shoemaker-Levy with Jupiter. Some scientists had theorized that the magnetosphere might have been modified signficantly by the violent impact, but that appears not to be the case, according to data from Galileo.
Meanwhile, Galileo engineers report that work has been completed on the spacecraft's tape recorder to assure its readiness for recording data during Thursday's atmospheric probe descent. Final fine-tuning of the spacecraft's flight path is scheduled for this Saturday, Dec. 2.
