There was that dream I had the other night, where I was inside a missile. I remembered today the similarity with this movie, in that Cochrane converted an ICBM into his warp ship. But why would someone create a connection between me and Cochrane? I didn't create warp drive in the past only to have someone block my memory of that, did I? It's funny, when I read something the other day about Data arguing with Einstein, it reminded me of something I was writing in my journal back in the early '90s. I was wondering why it was impossible to travel faster than the speed of light. A couple years ago I was writing about it again. The idea presented itself to me about why it was impossible, something about atoms not being able to work because electrons could not transfer energy faster than the speed of light. I wondered if it was possible to create some kind of process to transfer energy to those atoms, not unlike a cell's mitochondria works. Today I have been wondering if anything I remember about the past is real. Do I have a different past? Am I really who I think I am? The stuff I imagine happening to me sometimes, did that stuff really happen? I wonder if these movies and tv shows have actually been sort of inoculations, to keep me from questioning my reality. I do question reality sometimes, but it wasn't until I saw that Matrix movie a while back, did I really start to wonder about reality. But it didn't seem to matter, I wasn't overly concerned that I may be living that kind of false reality. I still don't think I am living such an extreme unreality as in the Matrix, but I wonder if there is a divergence point in my life, a shadow, a distorted period. Or have I been living a life like in the movie Soldier, or maybe like in Blade Runner, where Rachael, and I assume Harrison Ford's character, have false memories of their life. Am I Harrison Ford's character in this reality? A replicant searching for replicants?

Following the destruction of the USS Enterprise-D in Star Trek: Generations, the bridge crew, with the exception of Worf, were transferred to a new Sovereign class starship, the USS Enterprise-E. Shortly before the beginning of the film, a Borg cube ship has entered Federation space on a course for Earth. However, instead of stationing their most advanced vessel among the fleet assembled to protect Earth, Starfleet has assigned the Enterprise to patrol the Romulan Neutral Zone. Starfleet orders Jean-Luc Picard to do so in case the Romulans decide to take advantage of the situation. § 333. Major public emergencies; interference with State and Federal law
(a) Use of Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies.—
(1) The President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to—
(A) restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that—
(i) domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order; and
(ii) such violence results in a condition described in paragraph (2); or
(B) suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such insurrection, violation, combination, or conspiracy results in a condition described in paragraph (2).
(2) A condition described in this paragraph is a condition that—
(A) so hinders the execution of the laws of a State or possession, as applicable, and of the United States within that State or possession, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State or possession are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or
(B) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.
(3) In any situation covered by paragraph (1)(B), the State shall be considered to have denied the equal protection of the laws secured by the Constitution.

(a) Each armed force has court-martial jurisdiction over all persons subject to this chapter. The exercise of jurisdiction by one armed force over personnel of another armed force shall be in accordance with regulations prescribed by the President.

The United States Marshals Service (USMS) is a United States federal law enforcement agency within the United States Department of Justice (see 28 U.S.C. § 561). Although the Marshals Service itself dates only to 1969, the office of U.S. Marshal is the oldest federal law enforcement office in the United States.
The USMS is the enforcement arm of the United States federal courts. U.S. Marshals protect court officers and buildings and ensure the effective operation of the judicial system. The US Marshals Service assists with court security and prisoner transport, serves arrest warrants and seeks fugitives.
Regional Organization
The U.S. court system is divided into 94 Districts, each with a U.S. Marshal, a Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal (GS-15) (and an Assistant Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal (GS-14) in certain larger districts), Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshals (GS-13), and as many Deputy U.S. Marshals (GS-5 and above) and Special Deputy U.S. Marshals as needed.

The Director and each United States Marshal is appointed by the President of the United States and subject to confirmation by the United States Senate. The District U.S. Marshal is traditionally appointed from a list of qualified law enforcement personnel for that district or state. Each state has at least one district, while several larger states have three or more.

Ex-stripper's love worth $88 million, judge rules

SANTA ANA, Calif. — A federal-court judge awarded former Playboy centerfold Anna Nicole Smith more than $88 million of her late multimillionaire husband's estate yesterday, finding she truly loved the 90-year-old Texas oil tycoon though his fortune was the "central facet" of their romance.
The ruling is the latest action in a legal soap opera that has bounced between courts in California and Texas for six years.
The case centered on the former stripper's claim that her husband, J. Howard Marshall, promised to leave her half his fortune and on whether Marshall's son and sole heir, Pierce Marshall, tried to swindle her.
Judge David Carter agreed with Smith — to a point. He ruled she was entitled to half of the investment income he earned during their brief marriage, plus $44 million in punitive damages because of her stepson's "willful, malicious" plot to deceive her.
On June 27, 1994, the day Smith married a man she called "Paw Paw," J. Howard Marshall was 89 years old. He died 14 months later.
Last year, a judge in Los Angeles sided with Smith and awarded her $475 million. Six months later, a Texas court sided with her stepson, declaring him the sole heir.

A federal judge in California on Thursday reduced a $475 million damage award to former exotic dancer Anna Nicole Smith to $88.6 million in the case involving the estate of her husband, Houston oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II.
U.S. District Judge David O. Carter's ruling included harsh words for Smith and her late husband, saying she essentially married him for his money and he acted unethically in avoiding income taxes.
Carter said Smith, a former Playboy Playmate, is entitled to $44.3 million in each of punitive and compensatory damages against Marshall's son, E. Pierce Marshall.
Carter held a hearing from Dec. 11 to Jan. 8 on Pierce Marshall's appeal of U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Samuel Bufford's awarding Smith $475 million in December 2000.
Carter's written order, which referred to Smith as "Vickie," said her husband avoided paying income tax on millions of dollars of purchases "by writing off as business expenses the gifts to his paramours," including Smith and another stripper, who Marshall claimed were "consultants."
With Houstonian Rusty Hardin as one of Marshall's lead attorneys, a Houston probate court last year granted nothing to Smith.
Neither Marshall nor Hardin was present at Thursday's ruling, said Marshall spokesman David Margulies.
