I have been thinking a lot about that scene recently in "Battlestar Galactica." I imagine or remember that I did something similar as I was about to land on an aircraft carrier. It was a highly crazy maneuver but I had a reason. I am thinking that I had just shot down two Libyan fighters and I did it for that reason. I wasn't showing off but I had a suspicion that at least one person on the carrier was reporting my movements and the Libyans, possibly even Soviet fighters, were sent up specifically to shoot me down. I got both of them though and I wanted to do something to cause some chatter. That was one reason. Another is that I was hoping to de-motivate them from attacking me again by showing them just how capable a pilot I was. Everything I read suggests that landing on an aircraft carrier is stressful enough on a good day. So I wanted to do something stunning that would show I was good enough to make such a maneuver even after the intense stress of that combat engagement where they sent up their best to get me. My thoughts are that just as I about to land on the carrier, I pulled what I think is called a barrel-roll. That's not the same as Claire describes as the over-turn performed by Raz over Osirak. Rather, it is similar to that scene recently when "Starbuck" rolled over the top of "Apollo's" ship. I did that and still made a perfect 3-wire landing on the deck. The Captain flipped out over that and my thoughts are conflicted over whether I explained why I did it. I might not have told him because I trusted no one. They were going to pull my wings but somehow I told President Reagan about it, or I didn't have to tell him anything and he had it figured out too and he did his part to keep me flying. So that one objective was to de-motivate them with that stunt. But another objective was to generate chatter that we could use to track down the people reporting my movements to the enemy.

CLEARFIELD – The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and the Clearfield Heritage Foundation are inviting the public to attend an unveiling of an official state historical marker commemorating former Clearfield County resident A. W. Tozer. The dedication will take place at Mahaffey Camp and Conference Center Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. in the Main Tabernacle.
Speakers include State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale; the Rev. Jeffery Norris, district superintendent for the western Pennsylvania district office of Christian and Missionary Church; Bill Callahan, western Pennsylvania community preservation coordinator for the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission; Edward L. Depp, director and developer for the Mahaffey Camp and Conference Center; and Arnold Smith, a relative of Tozer. After the dedication there will be a short recess for the group to walk to the camp entrance along U.S. Route 219 for the unveiling of the marker.
Although the state recognized historical marker system started in 1946, Clearfield County now has only 11 with the 10th historical marker for Arnold Nawrocki dedicated this past Wednesday. The state recognized marker program requires that the person, place or event be of national (or world) significance not just local known or this part of Pennsylvania. The PHMC encourages counties to install markers of “local” significance on their own and Clearfield County organizations have installed over 40 throughout the county. These markers can be easily identified with the Clearfield County Seal on the top of marker. The state recognized markers have the Pennsylvania Seal of Arms on the top of the marker.

I HAVE a special statement to make on America's security and on waging peace.
The free nations of the world are under constant attack by international Communism. This attack is planned on a broad front and carefully directed. Its ultimate goal is world domination.
Against the pressures of international Communism, free world security can be achieved only by a practical solidarity of opposition by the nations each, according to its ability, carrying its necessary portion of the entire burden.
This is what mutual security really means.
To support this program, started a decade ago, the American people have given needed assistance to others. As a direct consequence, during recent years the free world has been able to deny any new territorial expansion to Communism.
In spite of occasional human errors in administering the details of the program, the overall results speak for themselves. The aggressive purposes of the Kremlin have been foiled, and there has been gradually developed in the free world a greater spiritual, economic and military strength as a foundation for efforts to win a just peace.
Now, needed financial reserves have sunk below the safe minimum. In spite of this danger signal, the House Appropriations Committee has taken action that seriously endangers our security. We need more ammunition to wage the peace.
A careful estimate of this year's needs was made after prolonged study. It fixed the necessary total at approximately three billion nine hundred million dollars. The sum proposed by the Appropriations Committee is more than 20 percent lower than the estimate. This is taking reckless risks with our safety.
The cut will dismay our friends in Latin America, in Asia, in Africa, and in the Middle East--every nation that is standing at our side in this world wide effort.
It is my deep conviction that reductions of a size contemplated by the Committee will have grave consequences in portions of the free world, and to our nation's security--and will encourage Communist imperialists. Our people must understand this.
Regardless of the many and mounting billions that we spend for our own military forces, those forces cannot alone achieve our security. Friendly nations must be ready and able to stand by our side to present a solid front in the defense of freedom. We have this choice:
Stand up and be counted, live up to our ideals and purposes, and assume the responsibilities that are ours;
Or, shrug our shoulders, say that freedom for others has no significance for us, is therefore no responsibility of ours, and so let international Communism gain the ultimate victory. The choice is clear for me.
I stand for American security, to be attained and sustained by cooperation with our friends of the free world. I am certain the American people will demand nothing less.
