Central Nebraska about the only folks experiencing a normal February
By Scott Sistek Published: Feb 17, 2015 at 3:41 PM PST Last Updated: Feb 18, 2015 at 2:12 AM PST
The weather pattern this winter has been stark in its dramatic differences -- temperatures at record-warm levels in the West, and a relentless march of arctic air masses pummeling the East.
The map above is a snapshot in time -- actually a forecast depicting areas of expected below and above normal temperatures for later this week, but it's been the consistent story the past several days anyway.
I've already detailed how warm Seattle has been -- on pace for record warm February as we now sit an amazing 7 degrees above normal by average temperature. But some places have been even more lopsided.

The Winter of 2070
There is a fascinating aspect of our present anomalously warm/snow-free winter.
It is very similar in many ways to what will be experienced in an average winter about a half-century in the future --more so than any recent year I can think of.

Not as bad as this yahoo.
(siren blaring) Pull over to the side, please.

It's prescription bourbon.

We'd just started boarding when this happened.
But there were a bunch of crew members in there setting up.
SECNAV? On the West Coast-- we were patching her in on closed circuit.
What's the occasion? It's a summit on global terror.
No irony there.
I'm not going there, Gibbs.

What now? "What now" what? What do we do next? Bang drums? Sweat lodge? Squirrel juggling? Oh, really? You think it's a good idea to hand me an ax right now? Well, yeah.
It's cold, Tobias.

What kind of device? I keep only one in stock for the proper authorities to use.
It's a transmitter that blocks cell-tower reception.
BISHOP: A cell-phone jammer.
MR.
BOULOS: It's portable, long-range, (dialing) very expensive.
(line ringing) And he just took it.

We have much to discuss.
Go easy on him.
Good night.
What, Leon? Nothing.
Unless there's something I should know.
Some detail I missed you might need to tell me.
Good night, Gibbs.
