This Is What I Think.

USS George Pervert CVN 77
Every time I see photos of Richard Molck, recent photos associated with the USS Wainwright museum, an activity that seems pointless to me, an activity that makes me think of Bill Clinton needing the presidency to be only about himself, a monument of the shirker and vague, a statue of The Lazy American, the narcissist Bill Clinton, I think that Richard Molck sure does look a like his fellow Fat Boy Karl Rove.
So I have developed a theory about that resemblance, which is compelling considering the documentation I have created about such facts as the ship's captain who succeeded Captain Chandler.
Here are some facts. Richard Molck was already assigned to the USS Wainwright CG 28 in Charleston South Carolina before I got there in July 1987.
The fact is the IMDb.com website indicates that George Bush homosexual Karl Rove was married in the 1970s to a (presumably) woman and that woman's name is listed as Wainright.
The fact is Richard Molck would have been photographed in the early 1980s when he joined the United States Navy.
Now, I don't know or don't remember a couple important details about Richard Molck that support this theory I describe here but those don't really matter much because I can guess about those details and that is enough.
I don't recall his age and I don't recall when he joined the US Navy. However, I can guess he is maybe 6 months to one year older than I am. I can guess he went to basic training maybe 6 months before I did, which means maybe sometime late in the year 1983. That makes sense because I vaguely remember when he left the ship for discharge from active service.
This is all more compelling because I still active memory of him from the late 1990s so I believe that means something in itself, especially considering what I have documented about that company he started in the year 1997 and that he asked me to work for.
So when I look at the photos of him from the 1980s that are available on the ship's museum website I wonder what Karl Rove looked like at the same age.
My guess is they are similar in appearance. Karl Rove is about 14 or 15 years older.
My guess is that some homosexual communist pervert of that type that still infests the Pentagon saw photos of Richard Molck and recognized the similarity to communist homosexual Karl Rove, that same George Bush homosexual communist Karl Rove you all know and love here in the United States, and those communist perverts infesting the Pentagon arranged for Molck to be assigned to the Wainwright.
When I graduated from specialist school at the US Navy Guided Missiles School at Dam Neck Virginia I was given the first choice of duty assignments because of my final scores in the class. I was second in class standing but the sailor in first place was married and he didn't get to choose his duty assignment. I remember that day very well because the petty officer on staff there and in charge of our class was scared I would not choose the location I had earlier said I wanted.
I forget that instructors name but I wrote here before that I recall he was previously stationed aboard the USS Worden. I might have also written about my memory of those final days I was at that school. The way I remember it now he had told me before I would get a special award because my grades were so high. Graduation day came around and someone was handing out certificates to us individually, maybe the commanding officer but I am not certain about who that was, and I walked away with a regular certificate and I remember that instructor said something to me as I turned to walk back to my desk. As I recall he told me he would check the numbers again and send me the award when I got back out to the fleet. Well, I got to the fleet and I never heard anything else about it. I figured that made sense though because there had been one the later weekly exams I hadn't done as well on and that cost me some points in my overall score as well as possibly costing me the highest score in the class and leaving me in second place. But I can also still recall thinking that I should have still received the special award because my final grade was very high and within the criteria he originally told me about.
My guess is someone was feeding lines to that petty officer and that is why he said what he said that on that final day. I see it all the time when I am outside not to mention everyday on television and internet. There are people who find out stuff about the people around me and those people get the other people to do stuff and say stuff around me by means direct and indirect.
To the old perverts such as George H.W. Bush that just proves their point. Old perverts such as George Bush see that as proof those other people are just as bad as they and are therefore hypocrites. Hyprocrites have no recourse to the law. Hypocrites have no access to the legal system. They are Fair Game.
Anyway, back in 1987, before the choices were revealed we had all told that petty officer the duty locations we would like to have. I told him I wanted to go back to Charleston South Carolina. Another guy wanted Hawaii.
So the day rolled around when scores were final and he had the assignment list and he wrote the first one on the chalkboard: USS Wainwright CG 28, Charleston South Carolina.
I had first pick so I said right then, before he wrote any other choices on the board, that is the one I want.
He said something similar to: "Fine, you can leave the room now."
Well, I ignored him and stayed in the room. He wrote the rest of the list on the board and let the rest of the class choose according to their standing.
He told me later that he was scared I would change my mind and take Hawaii instead of Charleston and that was because that same thing had happened in an earlier class he was in charge of.
But nope, I said I wanted Charleston South Carolina and that's where I went.
Less than a year later we were floating around the Persian Gulf dodging Iranian mines at sea and God know what kind of toxic chemicals they dumped in the water. Couldn't even drink the water cooler water because it looked so disgusting from the treatment chemicals, I was told, that was being added to it.
Well, the US Navy never in a million years will admit to a truth that is critically important to the United States: The United States Secret Service has known for a fact for decades that George Herbert Walker Bush, the same George Bush you all know and love, is a documented homosexual child pedophile. The United States Secret Service knows to this very day that George Bush was an active homosexual child pedophile predator while he was working in the United States White House in 1989 and the 1990s.
Never in a million years will the corrupted Pentagon admit such truth.
The United States Navy had no ships named Richard Nixon.
Those communist homosexuals infesting the Pentagon still to this day backing him up, protecting American pedophiles, learned a few lessons about that.

1981: FDA Oks Sweetener It Calls "Safer" Than Saccharin: Aspartame

In 1981, the FDA announces approval of an artificial sweetener, aspartame, it believes is "safer" than saccharin. In 1977, the FDA had recommended a ban on saccharin that was overturned by Congress later that year. In 1991, the FDA formally withdrew its proposal to ban saccharin. The warning label was removed from saccharin and products containing it in 1996.
Transcript
1981: FDA Oks Sweetener It Calls "Safer" Than Saccharin: Aspartame
ROGER MUDD (anchor): No decision by the Food and Drug Administration has been more politically unpopular than its attempt last year to ban the sale of saccharin. Congress prevented that, but today the FDA approved as safe a different low-calorie sweetener. Robert Hager reports.
ROBERT HAGER (reporting): The new product, which has been underdevelopment for years, is called aspartame, an alternative to saccharin, which the FDA still believes is unsafe and which must carry a warning label. FDA Commission Arthur Hull Hayes.
DR. ARTHUR HULL HAYES (FDA Commissioner): Our view on saccharin is that because it causes cancer in animals that we should ban it. We proposed such a ban and congress overturned that with a moratorium. This compound we feel does not cause cancer in animals.
HAGER: You feel then it’s safer than saccharin.
HAYES: On that basis, yes.
HAGER: Aspartame will marked by G.D. Searle under the brand name Equal in boxes or packets of powder or as tablets. The FDA also approved it for manufacturers to use it in instant powdered drinks or cereals or sugarless gum. But not for sodas yet; the company will apply shortly for that permission. Also aspartame can’t be used for cooking or baking because that lessens its sweetness. Approval of aspartame, which is made by combining amino acids like those found naturally in meat or cheese have been bogged down in eight years of debate over data supporting its safety. There were questions whether it might cause brain damage and a board of inquiry recently suggested more animal tests for cancer.
But the Food and Drug Administration said today that based on the test data those are not reasonable fears and aspartame is expected to reach food stores sometime this coming winter.

DONALD RUMSFELD, CEO
While Cheney was voting against just about any progressive bill in Congress, Rumsfeld, for his part, had returned to Illinois to work for the former finance chair of his Congressional campaign, Dan Searle, as chief executive officer of Searle's family pharmaceutical business. Fresh from Washington where Rumsfeld had run the Pentagon for more than a year, he was seen as an ideal candidate to shake up Searle who had fallen on hard times with a $28 million loss in 1977 and shares at a low of $10. The company had been very profitable in the past with drugs like Metamucil (once the top-selling laxative), Dramamime (the first motion-sickness pill), and Enovid (the first contraceptive of its kind to reach the market). But a series of acquisitions, the expiration of a number of patents, and a failure to get new drugs to market was causing the company to lose money.
Rumsfeld played hardball from the day he stepped into Searle's headquarters in Skokie. He disposed of twenty-five businesses with a net worth of $400 million soon after he arrived, fired 150 staff, and moved a similar number out to regional offices, then he hired his high-school friend John Robson who had been his issues director on his run for Congress. The following year, the company made a profit of $72.2 million.
Next, Rumsfeld turned his attention to a product that Searle had spent $30 million developing and trying to get to market: a controversial new product called aspartame. The Food and Drug Administration was reluctant to approve it because two of Searle's hypertension drugs called Aldactone and Aldactazide had recently been discovered to have ingredients that were considered carcinogenic. The Justice Department had opened an investigation into allegations that Searle had withheld evidence about the dangers of the ingredient, which in turn "led the FDA to question the integrity of all of Searle's research work," despite the fact that the company had been give approval for developing aspartame in 1974.
Rumsfeld took unprecedented action - ignoring the legal advice he had been given - and sued the government to force them to approve the drug. On July 15, 1981, the new government of Ronald Reagan conceded. Rumsfeld and Robson immediately called a press conference the following day.

THE PRESIDENT: It's an amazing experience to come back to a place where you were raised. Laura was raised in Midland, I was raised in Midland, this is -- this is one of the three homes I lived in, and I kind of remember it. (Laughter.) The bedroom -- actually I do remember the wood on the wall that -- in the bedroom.
You know, I love Midland, and Texas. We've got a lot of friends here. I learned a lot of values that I hold dear here. It's good to see mom's -- Laura's mom here. And it's the first time I've been back here since I've been the President, and it's -- it was just a very heartwarming experience.
You know, I've told my friends here, I said, you know, I'm not going to change as a person because of politics or Washington -- that's what I said when I left. I think they appreciate that. I want them to know that, you know, even though I had to deal with a lot of tough issues, that I'm still the same person that they knew before and that, you know, I'm wiser, more experienced, but my heart and my values didn't change.

The American Presidency Project
Ronald Reagan
XL President of the United States: 1981 - 1989
Remarks at the Presentation Ceremony for the Presidential Scholars Awards
June 17, 1987
I thank you, and welcome to the White House—Secretary Bennett, Ronna Romney, and all of you, our 1987 Presidential Scholars. You're the 23d class of Presidential Scholars and the 5th of those I've had the opportunity to meet and congratulate. I have to admit, I always feel a little uneasy when I'm in the midst of so much academic achievement.
Sometime ago, my alma mater, Eureka College, out in Illinois, gave me an honorary degree. I was very grateful, but I had an uneasy feeling that—well, a sense of guilt that I'd nursed for a number of years, because I always suspected that the first one they gave me was honorary. [Laughter] But as I said, today we're here to congratulate all 140 of you on your outstanding achievements and to congratulate some others as well: your teachers and your parents. I know who the parents are; they're the ones grinning from ear to ear. [Laughter]
In the last several years, America's found a new way to talk about education, a way summed up in just one word, and you're an example of it: excellence. Now, it may sound strange to say that the emphasis on quality is new, but a few years ago it seemed that we'd lost sight of excellence as the goal in education. Too many schools had turned to fads like grade inflation and abolishing basic requirements. And then 4 years ago our National Commission on Excellence in Education issued its report card on American schools. They found that high school students then were scoring lower on achievement tests than at any point in the past 26 years and that 13 percent of all 17-year-olds were functionally illiterate. They said that if a foreign power had done the damage to our schools that we ourselves had permitted, we might have considered it an act of war.
Well, there's one thing about America: Once we recognize we have a problem, we pitch in, pull together, and solve it. In the past 4 years all 50 States have set up task forces on education. Many States have stiffened graduation requirements and begun to reward quality teaching. All across the Nation, communities have recognized that the key to a good education is not in the pocketbook, in how much we spend, but in the heart, in the values that guide learning. It's in mastering basics, the three R's—reading, writing, arithmetic. And it's in what you might call the three F's, and those are faith, family, and freedom. The funny thing is, as schools begin to return to the basics of skill and character the test scores stopped falling and started up again.
You yourselves reflected these basics in the essays you wrote as part of the Presidential Scholar program. Not all of what you wrote dealt with values; some had to do with careers you aspire to, although those were also revealing—music, dance, teaching, scientific research, medicine. A few of you, of course, are undecided. One of you wrote, "Well, I'd like to have a career eventually. That's a start." And let me say, you know something, don't worry about it if you haven't made up your mind yet; that's okay. When Eureka College gave me that first degree, I still couldn't say to anyone exactly what I wanted to do. So, just look what happened. [Laughter] But that's how I felt when I was your age. And it's not true that Abe Lincoln was my guidance counselor- [laughter] —or that I was his. [Laughter]

George Bush:
The Unauthorized Biography
George Bush has always traded shamelessly on his alleged record as a naval aviator during the Second World War in the Pacific theatre. During the 1964 senate campaign in Texas against Senator Ralph Yarborough, Bush televised a grainy old film which depicted young George being rescued at sea by the crew of the submarine USS Finnback after his Avenger torpedo bomber was hit by Japanese anti-aircraft fire during a bombing raid on the island of Chichi Jima on September 2, 1944. That film, retrieved from the Navy archives, backfired when it was put on the air too many times, eventually becoming something of a maladroit cliché.
Bush's campaign literature has always celebrated his alleged exploits as a naval aviator and the Distinguished Flying Cross he received. As we become increasingly familiar with the power of the Brown Brothers, Harriman/Skull and Bones network working for Senator Prescott Bush, we will learn to become increasingly skeptical of such official accolades and of the official accounts on which they are premised.
What happened in the skies of Chichi Jima that day is a matter of lively controversy. Bush has presented several differing versions of his own story. In his campaign autobiography published in 1987 Bush gives the following account:
The flak was the heaviest I'd ever flown into. The Japanese were ready and waiting: their antiaircraft guns were set up to nail us as we pushed into our dives. By the time VT-51 was ready to go in, the sky was thick with angry black clouds of exploding antiaircraft fire.
Don Melvin led the way, scoring hits on a radio tower. I followed, going into a thirty-five degree dive, an angle of attack that sounds shallow but in an Avenger felt as if you were headed straight down. The target map was strapped to my knee, and as I started into my dive, I'd already spotted the target area. Coming in, I was aware of black splotches of gunfire all around.
Suddenly there was a jolt, as if a massive fist had crunched into the belly of the plane. Smoke poured into the cockpit, and I could see flames rippling across the crease of the wing, edging towards the fuel tanks. I stayed with the dive, homed in on the target, unloaded our four 500-pound bombs, and pulled away, heading for the sea. Once over water, I leveled off and told Delaney and White to bail out, turning the plane to starboard to take the slipstream off the door near Delaney's station.
Up to that point, except for the sting of dense smoke blurring my vision, I was in fair shape. But when I went to make my jump, trouble came in pairs.
In this account, there is no more mention of White and Delaney until Bush hit the water and began looking around for them. Bush says that it was only after having been rescued by the USS Finnback, a submarine, that he "learned that neither Jack Delaney nor Ted White had survived. One went down with the plane; the other was seen jumping, but his parachute failed to open." The Hyams account of 1991 was written after an August 1988 interview with Chester Mierzejewski, another member of Bush's squadron, had raised important questions about the haste with which Bush bailed out, rather than attempting a water landing. Mierzejewski's account, which is summarized below, contradicted Bush's own version of these events, and hinted that Bush might have abandoned his two crewmembers to a horrible and needless death.

CNN LIVE EVENT/SPECIAL
George H.W. Bush Christens Keel Of News Aircraft Carrier
Aired September 6, 2003 - 11:45 ET
THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
FREDERICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: We want to take you to Newport News, Virginia where the nation's 41st president, George Herbert Walker Bush is about to participate in a keel laying ceremony there in Newport News. Right now introducing him is the Secretary of Navy, H.T. Johnson. He'll be introducing the former president in a moment.
The keel laying ceremony is part of a ceremony for aircraft carrier that will bear -- that will be bearing the name of President George Bush. The carrier is still being built and it's expected to be complete by the year 2008, but the keel laying ceremony is to officially mark, apparently, the start of this program.
It would be the 10th Nemmitt Class nuclear powered carrier. And this is the second time, of course, President Bush has been to this shipyard in Newport News. He was last there in 1990. There he was christening another naval ship.
President Bush is a decorated Naval aviator. One that earned his stripes during World War II. Let's listen in.
HANSFORD T. JOHNSON, ACTING NAVY SECRETARY: But the free people of Iraq and Afghanistan are beginning to taste the fruits of democracy and freedom. For 6 decades we've witnessed your many acts of courage. From Chi Chi Jima (ph) to the Persian Gulf War, you've faced many challenges, but as you once said, you complete your work no matter what the obstacles.
This ship will face many challenges in the 5 decades of service to our nation, but as you said, she will completeth her work, no matter what the obstacles.
Ladies and gentleman, please join me in welcoming a leader, a hero, and dedicated servant of freedom, President George Herbert Walker Bush.
(APPLAUSE)
PRESIDENT GEORGE H.W. BUSH: Thank you. Thank you all very much. Thank you Secretary Johnson. Thank you guys for that warm welcome, all of you. Secretary Johnson, thank you sir, for those very kind, generous words. And my old friend Jim Holloway. It's just a little overwhelming for me to be here today. John Warner and I go back a long time and to have him up here, deservedly so, I might add, for his own service to the country makes it especially wonder day for me.
I have great respect for our CNO, Admiral Clark over here. And I mentioned Jim Holloway, with whom I go back a long way and I was so thrilled he was willing to come down here today.
Tom Shifobame is -- Chief Shifobame, I think a (UNINTELLIGIBLE) being, Shifobame, what the heck? Tom, thank you, sir, for the warm welcome. The briefing. And on -- I guess I can thank you for all the hard work of people here at this wonderful facility. Ray Bagley, I appreciate it, sir, your giving the invocation and I think it's very special that Admiral Forbes is here, a representative of the United Kingdom, our staunch friend and ally. Where is he? I never believed when I was a kid of 17 that the chiefs ran the Navy. But then I learned the hard way when I was commander-in-chief and when I was an ensign who runs the Navy. It's a joy to have the master chief, Master Chief Scott, with us here today.
I want to acknowledge another group here. You all gave him a well-deserved hand, the Leapfrogs, the Navy Leapfrogs. They've helped make this a very special day for us. I thought their spokesman got a little nervous when the cloud floated over here. They'll only be coming any minute now, any minute now. He did a great job, filling what we call quiet air time there, so congratulations to all of you guys. Some of you may know that at an advanced stage, I've developed an appreciation for skydiving and I certainly give the Leapfrogs high marks on technique, that of being the technique of landing safely.
I plan to make another jump on my 80th birthday, June 12, next year or June 13, maybe the day after the 80th birthday. Barbara -- I was put down as a lack of overly enthusiastic about this matter but she said to me, "One way or another, this will be your final jump." I thought she could have phrased it a little differently.
Let me salute the members of Congress that are here. I see Bill Young and Sonny and Ralph Hall and so many with whom I served there and I love those days in the Congress. It was absolutely wonderful. A lot of nice things happened to you when you become a former president. You know people are for you. You know what I mean? They're with you. And the naming of this carrier has got to be exceptionally special. I feel very emotional about it, very honored by it. I want to thank Secretary England for his key role in the naming and, of course, John Warner, a compatriot of his and mine who had a lot to do with it, also. If you need somebody to blame for naming this ship, those are two -- your two guys. And given my record as a naval aviator, I took off two more times than I landed. Jim had to point that out but he did it nicely. You might say the secretary and the senator redeemed themselves by picking my wonderful daughter, Daro, as the ship's sponsor. We're so thrilled that she's here with us today. I'm deeply grateful to all of you...
(APPLAUSE)
BUSH: ... and then a selfish sense, part of the reason this honor is so deeply meaningful goes back to my own Navy days. And looking back, I loved my time serving in the Navy, the three years aboard the San Jacinto, CVL-30, flying in Torpedo Squadron 51, and it made a man out of a scared kid. My Navy days taught me the meaning of friendship, too, and of freedom, and gave me the opportunity to serve -- we all back then -- we felt we were serving a noble cause. The country was together, no dissent. Let's go get the job done and even little guys -- lowly little ones, striped ensigns felt exactly that way.
Many friends out here today, and one is very special friend of mine, one of the few. He and I are few remainders of VT-51. He's a winner of the Navy Cross, Jack Guy. Stand up, Jack, right here. That's squadron mate. Maybe it's old fashioned, but to me, serving in the Navy was it's own reward and I can tell you I relied heavily on the experiences I picked up in three years in the Navy throughout my lifetime. It was particularly important; I felt, to me trying to make decisions when I was commander-in-chief.
And so, I do appreciate, again, the kind words of Secretary Warner and Jim Halloway about my time in uniform and in government. So when you get right down to it, each of us are gathered here today is involved in service of one kind or another. We all have important roles to play and we're all part of a team that today is the most powerful instrument of human freedom the world has ever known. And so, I salute the ship builders.
I was so pleased to see so many of the people that build the ships stand out and followed by their wonderful families. I think there's something very, very special and we as a country should be grateful to the men and women who build these ships. And so...
(APPLAUSE)
BUSH: ... I hope you all feel what I do in my heart, that you play a key role in the defense of freedom. Newport News is the only place where ships and submarines like that are built. I was going to say the only place that builds submarines anymore but that's not quite true, but it certainly is true of carriers. And the talented and dedicated workers who build them can take pride in their life's work.
I think it's wonderful that Tom pointed out that there's several generations of ship builders here, pride of a son and a father joining in the marvelous occupation. And so, it's gives us great pleasure to salute the men and women who work here at this wonderful facility. Just as the service men and women have a special place in the hearts of all Americans, all the more so in recent days and recent months, those who build the ships and the airplanes, and the tanks, and the protective gear that make America's military work have a special place in the hearts of though who wear the uniform. And I might add that goes for the entire Bush family. I seldom speak for our oldest son, but I can tell you he feels exactly the way his dad does.
I know that our fantastic First Lady was here last summer to participate in the keel laying of the USS Texas. And of course, Barbara sponsored the Houston, USS Houston, and later the carrier George Washington. More recently, many of you joined Nancy Reagan and Dick Cheney last month with the commissioning of the Ronald Reagan, so aptly named for my dear friend and predecessor who did so much to restore our military might and our national pride.
Each of these state of the art vessels that I just mentioned will join what my first commander-in-chief, the Navy man, Franklin D. Roosevelt called the great arsenal of freedom, and in so doing, helped make sure that my grandkids and your kids grow up in a safer world. Since leaving office, I have often said that I'm an optimist about the future because I truly believe that better days lie ahead for America. And we're a resilient nation, a proud nation. And there is no question in my mind that though we face insidious terror, we will prevail.
In the wake of September 11th, and the ongoing war against terror, many people are understandably concerned about our world, the kind of world that we are living in. And in the arduous aftermath following our stunning victory in Iraq, some are quick to question whether America has both the will and the ability to continue engaging in our world in ways that foster more freedom and more human rights. Everyone would prefer clean and easy answers to these difficult problems. Yet it seems to me that ignoring the threats rising up against our way of life is to shirk our solemn responsibilities and true, the post Cold War world remains a dangerous place. But those who doubt our will not only underestimate the resolve of our president, they also sell short the selfless men and women who dedicate their lives in service to the American armed forces, the forces of the greatest, freest country on the face of the earth.
And to be sure, we still face many serious and even deadly challenges, which we confront, a faceless enemy, you might say. In many ways, securing the peace in this new era will be difficult as it was in securing freedom's victory in the Cold War. All too often we're reminded that the price of freedom remains painfully high, but with faith and vigilance and the vision and leadership that only the United States can provide. Freedom prevailed in the twilight struggle of the Cold War in the last century just as we will be here -- just as we will do here in the 21st century. I have faith in our president. And I have faith in our fantastic military. And I have faith in each of you here that we are equal to this hard and necessary task. And I take immense pride that this vessel whose keel we lay today will contribute to this proud and noble cause.
Lastly, there's much I do not miss about being president. A lot of things I don't miss about that. I have a great life out there; Barbara and me, sitting by the sea watching the tide come in and the tide go out. It's absolutely wonderful. But what I do miss is dealing with our superb military. I've said it not just here in front of these Navy folks, in front of these that build the ships for the Navy. But I miss very much dealing with the greatest military in the entire world. And I'm glad to be back surrounded by this wonderful, wonderful group of people who I'm sure feel the same commitment to the military as I do. So thank you very much. And God bless you workers and you guys who man our ships, you men and women who are out there, and you Leapfrogs. Make every landing as nice as the last one and may God bless our president, too. Thank you.
(APPLAUSE)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you President Bush.
Well, we're very close to the highlight of today's ceremony. But before we begin, I want to tell you a little bit about a very special lady who has a very special role in the life of the carrier George H. W. Bush. She's the ship's sponsor and in three years, she will christen the carrier named after her father. Her name is Dorothy Bush- Cook, but everybody knows her as Doro. She hails from Houston, Texas, and lives in Maryland with her husband, Bobby Cook and their four children, Sam, Ellie, Robert, and G.G. She received her bachelor's degree from Boston College and pursuing a master's degree in theological studies at Wesley seminary. Active in the community, she continues the tradition of public service so well established by her parents.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the sponsor for the aircraft carrier George H. W. Bush, Doro Bush-Cook.
(APPLAUSE)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Now, the line in the speech says I'm -- don't sit down. Join me. So, we already got past that part, so. If we're about ready for the excitement. If the guests on the dios (PH) would don their aprons and their shields, we'll move over to the flag.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The keel laying ceremony celebrates the laying of the first timber and can be traced back to the first shipbuilding for our Navy. While the current ceremony maintains this tradition, it's been modified to take into consideration updates in materials, technology, and techniques. With modern modular ship construction techniques, there is often no actual laying of the keel to begin the building process.
Today, President Bush will authenticate the keel by chalking his initials on a metal plate. Our welder will use a welding torch to cut the chalked inscription into the metal. This metal plate will then be affixed to the carrier permanently.
The audience may sit down.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: When we practiced there, Barbara wasn't sure if she wanted to be in the front here with the sparks, so.
(LAUGHTER)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. We're all pretty much over here. We have all of our shields? We have a plaque here that's special so Doro, would you like to tell everyone about what's so special about the plaque?
DOROTHY BUSH-COOK, SHIP SPONSOR: Sure. I'd like -- I'm honored to be the sponsor of the CNV77, named for a great president and a great father. I, too, would like to salute the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States. And the workers and their families who will be building this great carrier. When I was asked to suggest a gift to place with the keel, we thought of this plaque that has just four letters on it. CAVU. My father doesn't talk a lot about his World War II service, but I do know that these four words are important to him. And, they stand for ceiling and visibility, unlimited. It's what he hoped for when he was a pilot, and it's what he has now in his life, today. So, it is my hope that the George -- when the George H. W. Bush is commissioned that she will have ceiling and visibility, unlimited, for its pilots and smooth seas for the ship itself. Again, I'm honored to be here. Thank you very much.
(APPLAUSE)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you very much, Doro.
Now, we're going to unveil the plaque, here, and then we'll get started with the keel authentication.
(APPLAUSE)
BUSH: Think I made it big enough?
(APPLAUSE)
(LAUGHTER)
(APPLAUSE)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It was during the construction of the aircraft carrier, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, in the early 1970's, that Mike Eaton began his career at Newport News. During his 30 years of service, he has mastered the intricate art of welding on both carriers and submarines. Like many of our employees, Mike was born and raised in the area, hailing from Sussex, Virginia. His brother is also a ship builder. He is joined here today, by his wife, Sharon, his daughter, Sherell, and his son Dupree. Please welcome Mike Eaton.
(APPLAUSE)
BARBARA BUSH: Where are you going?
(LAUGHTER)
MIKE EATON, WELDER: Everybody ready?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We're ready.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What happened?
(LAUGHTER)
(APPLAUSE)
EATON: Everybody ready?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We're ready.
(APPLAUSE)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: President Bush, if you'd join me up here. It's now time to authenticate the keel.
BUSH: I here by declare the keel of this unite -- of this United States aircraft carrier -- U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, true and fairly laid.
(APPLAUSE)
(MUSIC)
BUSH: Well done, young man. You didn't let you ego get in the way and put you glasses on.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That was incredible, everybody liked that.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And, I'm old enough to know what you're...
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Was that fantastic, or what?
(LAUGHTER)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well, President Bush, it's traditional at carrier christening and commissioning ceremonies to have jet flyovers. Well, we thought it was only right to have a flyover for a keel laying of a ship named after an aviator. But today, we're going to do things just a little bit differently. So, in a few seconds, hopefully, Jerry, I want you to look up and you should see a plane that looks familiar to you.
The plane is a Grumman Avenger torpedo bomber, the same model that you flew in World War II. This aircraft is a fully restored plane with a functioning eclectic gun turret and Bombay doors. It is piloted by Mr. Don Anklin of Chesapeake, Virginia.
(LAUGHTER)
(APPLAUSE)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And we're going to make one more pass.
(APPLAUSE)
FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: A unique -- a unique flyover fitting a World War II naval aviator, I'm talking about former President George H. W. Bush, this taking place over the Northrop Grumman Newport News shipyard in Newport News, Virginia. All of this is part of the keel laying ceremony, which is considered the official start of the project in which the building is already underway at the 10th and final Nimitz class nuclear powered carrier being named after the former president. It will be complete, the project that is -- of the building of the carrier -- this aircraft carrier in 2008.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And, one more time.
FREDRICKA: However, right now, they actually have the keel laying ceremony and what you were able to see moments ago the former president chalking in his initials on a placard which was then followed up by a welder who traced over those initials and later on, that placard will be placed onto the aircraft carrier, when it's all complete.
That ceremony taking place all in Newport News, Virginia, today.

Harry S. Truman
XXXIII President of the United States: 1945-1953
67 - Statement by the President Upon Signing Bill Providing for an Under Secretary of Defense.
April 2, 1949
TODAY I have signed an enrolled bill which provides for an Under Secretary of Defense. This improvement in the Security Act meets with my hearty approval, since it was one of the proposals for strengthening the National Military Establishment contained in my message to the Congress of March 5, 1949. This act becomes law at a particularly opportune time in that it will permit the new Secretary of Defense and his Under Secretary to begin working together at an early date.
Provision of an Under Secretary is, however, only one of the changes necessary to achieve truly effective organization and management in the Department of Defense. As I indicated in my message to the Congress, amendments of the Security Act should be directed at accomplishing two basic purposes: first, conversion of the National Military Establishment into an executive department, and second, providing the Secretary of Defense with appropriate responsibility and authority, and with civilian and military assistance adequate to fulfill his responsibility.
Note: As enacted, the bill (H.R. 2216) "to amend the National Security Act of 1947 to provide for an Under Secretary of Defense" is Public Law 36, 81st Congress (63 Stat. 30).

America’s forgotten war
Historian Jon Wiener asks: If the Cold War was a great struggle the West won, then where are all the monuments?
ANDREW GUMBEL, LA REVIEW OF BOOKS
IN THE EUPHORIC FIRST WEEKS after the fall of the Berlin Wall, East German protesters who had risked everything to overthrow their government and were now jockeying for position in the emerging new Germany were puzzled by a growing number of news reports from the other side of the Atlantic.
American conservatives, they kept hearing, were claiming credit for ending the Cold War and “liberating” them from the yoke of Soviet communism.
They were puzzled not just because the names of these conservatives — Gingrich, Buchanan, Kemp — were unfamiliar. What baffled them was more fundamental: they hadn’t received American help at all. The CIA, by its own later admission, was entirely absent during the long months and years when East German dissidents organized covert meetings in churches and semi-derelict apartment buildings, usually no more than a step or two ahead of the Stasi, the all-pervasive secret police.
No Americans had helped the protesters organize a massive rally on the 40th anniversary of East Germany’s founding, on October 7, 1989, which embarrassed the leadership in the presence of the visiting Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev. It was not the Americans, but rather a coalition of civic leaders, including the celebrated conductor Kurt Masur, who negotiated a truce in Leipzig two days later and convinced the security forces not to open fire on the 70,000 people in the crowd. Many of the officers, who had been given live rounds and instructed to emulate the Chinese massacre in Tiananmen Square if necessary, put down their weapons and joined the protests instead.

20th Anniversary
The beginning of the end of East Germany
Von By Matthias Schlegel
Twenty years ago this week, East Germany’s communist regime celebrated its 40th anniversary in power while the East German people took to the streets with their fists in the air. Der Tagesspiegel’s Matthias Schlegel reports on the peaceful demonstrations that would help bring down the Berlin Wall.
On October 7, 1989, East Germany’s communist leadership wanted adulation, but the people offered defiance.
The 40th anniversary of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) was supposed to celebrate the accomplishments of socialism with slogans and torches, but most of the citizens of the failed state weren’t in the mood to celebrate. Instead they staged three days of protests in Plauen, Dresden and Leipzig.
And so the forced celebrations unexpectedly became the swan song of the tired communist system. East Germans in many cities and villages took to the streets with raised fists. In Berlin, scores of people were arrested.
Especially in Saxony (which was then still divided into the three districts of Dresden, Leipzig and Karl-Marx-Stadt) protests broke out on the streets.
Three demonstrations on three successive days – on October 7 in Plauen, October 8 in Dresden and October 9 in Leipzig – played a key role in shaping the peaceful revolution in the GDR. The fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9 was simply the result of pressure from the street a month earlier.
Twenty years later, protagonists from the demonstrations in all three cities have chronicled their experiences at the time.
Plauen, October 7, 1989
It was a drizzly day in the Vogtland region, near the Bavarian border. Local residents had been agitated since trains, filled with East German refugees who had swarmed the West German embassy in Prague, rolled through Plauen on their way to Hof, just 30 kilometres away in Bavaria.
Over the course of the day, more and more people gathered in the centre of the city to quickly make a crowd of 10,000. They formed a column of demonstrators and headed towards the town hall, drawing ever closer to the lines of police officers who have formed there. Church superintendent Thomas Küttler was there with his three children. He had found a slip of paper in his mailbox, written by someone who remains anonymous to this day. It called for a “Demonstration for Civil Rights on the Theatre Square.”
“It started at 3 pm. Pretty soon water cannons and police dogs were used against the demonstrators but they didn’t succeed in scattering the crowd,” remembered the 71-year-old. Eventually, the water cannons broke down. The people jeered.
“What do you think? What kind of unbelievable signal is that for demonstrators when a water cannon runs out water?” said Küttler. A helicopter circled over the crowd, inside it, as Küttler now knows, sat the police chief of the Karl-Marx Stadt district.
“At that moment, I said to myself, ‘if there’s anything to be done to calm down the situation, then I’m one of the only ones who can succeed,” the churchman said. Everyone in the city knew him from the meetings at the Protestant church to discuss what was happening in the country, even the city’s mayor.
Küttler went up to the leader of the police lines. It surprised him when the policeman stood to the side to let the church superintendent pass.
“Inside the town hall, I encountered a group of helpless leaders. They reckoned I ought to say something to the crowd.” And so Küttler climbed onto a wall in front of the building and spoke into a megaphone.
“I kept repeating over and over these words, that the most important thing was not to turn to violence.” And then he announced that within the next week, a group of 25 people could talk to the mayor.
Inside the town hall, the churchman had made it clear that it would be “a signal for peace, if the helicopter was called off.” And as if it were a scene from a movie, the helicopter turned away, the bells of the Luther Church began to toll and the crowd scattered with the shout: “We’ll be back!”

Correct.
That sequence suggests to me that you wanted Arbusto most immediately as a credential for the congressional race.

At Height of Vietnam, Bush Picks Guard

Two weeks before he was to graduate from Yale, George Walker Bush stepped into the offices of the Texas Air National Guard at Ellington Field outside Houston and announced that he wanted to sign up for pilot training.
It was May 27, 1968, at the height of the Vietnam War. Bush was 12 days away from losing his student deferment from the draft at a time when Americans were dying in combat at the rate of 350 a week. The unit Bush wanted to join offered him the chance to fulfill his military commitment at a base in Texas. It was seen as an escape route from Vietnam by many men his age, and usually had a long waiting list.

Ex-NFL star Tillman makes ‘ultimate sacrifice’
Safety, who gave up big salary to join Army, killed in Afghanistan
NBC, msnbc.com and news services
updated 4/26/2004 3:39:32 AM ET
WASHINGTON — Pat Tillman, who gave up the glamorous life of a professional football star to join the Army Rangers, was remembered as a role model of courage and patriotism Friday after military officials said he had been killed in action in Afghanistan.
“Pat Tillman was an inspiration on and off the football field, as with all who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the war on terror. His family is in the thoughts and prayers of President and Mrs. Bush,” Taylor Gross, a spokesman for the White House, said in a statement.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the author of a recent book about courage, said he was “heartbroken” and raised the prospect that “the tragic loss of this extraordinary young man” could be a “heavy blow to our nation’s morale, as it is surely a grievous injury to his loved ones.”
Tillman, 27, was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, based at Fort Lewis, Wash. The battalion was involved in Operation Mountain Storm in southeastern Afghanistan, part of the U.S. campaign against fighters of the al-Qaida terror network and the former Taliban government along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, military officials told NBC News.
U.S. military spokesman Lt. Col. Matthew Beevers said Saturday that Tillman was killed Thursday night in a firefight at about 7 p.m. on a road near Sperah, about 25 miles southwest of a U.S. base at Khost.
After coming under fire, Tillman’s patrol got out of their vehicles and gave chase, moving toward the spot of the ambush. Beevers said the fighting was “sustained” and lasted 15-20 minutes.
Beevers said Tillman was killed by enemy fire, but he had no information about what type of weapons were involved in the assault, or whether he died instantly.
An Afghan militiaman fighting alongside Tillman also was killed, and two other U.S. soldiers were wounded.
A local Afghan commander, Gen. Khial Bas, told The Associated Press that nine enemy fighters were killed in the confrontation.
Bas said six other enemy fighters were believed to have escaped. Beevers said he had no information about any enemy fighters killed.
Overall, 110 U.S. soldiers have died, 39 of them in combat, during Operation Enduring Freedom, which began in Afghanistan in late 2001.
Spokesmen at the Defense Department and the Army would not comment Friday, in keeping with a policy that no U.S. casualties of war be identified for at least 24 hours. But Tillman’s death was confirmed by the House Armed Services Committee, whose members were notified by the Defense Department, The Arizona Republic reported on its Web site.
‘Pat knew his purpose in life’
Tillman turned down a three-year, $3.6 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League to enlist in the Army in May 2002 in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks

Plot Summary
U.S.Security Investigation Division chief Paul Reagan (Richard Denning) assigns John Williams (John Ireland) to hunt down a subversive group that has been smuggling A-bomb parts into the United States in specially designed cases. Williams traces the ring to Marseilles, France, where he meets Margo Wayne (Suzanne Dalbert) at a waterfront café and discovers she is part of the plot. When recalled by Regan, Williams is informed that he has been engaged in a "war games" security check to test America's atomic defense, but he proves to Regan that enemy agents are actually using the "war games" as a front to smuggle an A-bomb into the country.

Jonathan Bush said he offered to help. He'd been busy raising money as a one-man show for his brother George's presidential explorations under the name of the Fund for Limited Government and then became national finance co-chairman when the older Bush announced his candidacy on May 1, 1979. Not surprisingly, some of the father's contributors also wound up on Bush's list of investors.

Quotes
Bligh: Mr. Fryer, sir! Come back here!
[Mr. Fryer returns; Bligh continues, quietly]
Bligh: I will dismiss when I have done with you, sir. Do you hear me?
John Fryer: This is an outrage!
Bligh: Mr. Fryer!
John Fryer: In all my years at sea...
Bligh: Your "years at sea"? Good Lord, man! If I'd known your nature, I would not have accepted you as boatswain of a river barge.
John Fryer: Must I suffer this before the men?
Bligh: You will suffer my correction whenever you're at fault, sir!

Criticism for the memoir, titled "Dutch: A Memoir of Ronald Reagan," also continued to erupt Tuesday from the political side as former President George Bush denied Morris' claim that he and his wife were unwelcome "upstairs" in the Reagan White House when he was vice president.
"That's ridiculous," he said in an interview shown on NBC's "Today."
"Upstairs? I mean that's a kind of English, upstairs-and-downstairs approach to life. "I don't even use the terminology."
Morris writes of a Christmas Eve 1988 conversation he said he had with the Bushes a month before Bush became president.
"I really love that guy, he's such a terrific fellow," Bush -- Reagan's vice president -- is quoted as saying. Morris then quotes Bush as commenting about Reagan and his wife, Nancy: "I kinda wished they'd shown -- 'y'know, a little appreciation. Didn't seem to want us upstairs in the White House."

Lieutenant Commander Wetherbee. I'm proud to be here. It's a pleasure being part of this program. I'm happy to be part of watching Dan recover that satellite. He's about the best in the world at grabbing satellites at Mach 25.
The President. Unbelievable. Well, I'm glad to see a Navy pilot -- could you use a 65-year-old Navy pilot up there?
Commander Brandenstein. Navy pilots don't get that old.
The President. Oh, yeah? I'm one. [Laughter] Hey, listen, there seems to be a long pause.
