March 2004.
I had just missed the famed Spokane Winter. Records indicate a notable low temperature in January 2004 of -22 degrees Fahrenheit. Snowfall for the season was slightly above normal at 54 inches according to the records.
By March 2004, all that was left was the residue of traction material on the sides of Sprague Avenue. I could see plumes of dust from the dirt left behind from the typical mounds of plowed snow, not unlike so much sediment from the massive glaciers that blanketed and flooded this region eons past.
March 2004. I always remember those days.
