To: Governor Gregoire

From: Kerry W. Burgess (official United States federal undercover identity, an identity completely compromised by forces hostile to the United States of America)

Governor,

I have communicated most of these same details and more to the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Justice, and I wanted to also inform you of my observations.

I currently maintain an official United States federal undercover identity and I began that assignment on 12/7/1998 to investigate Microsoft Corporation sponsored terrorism. My deployment start date is recorded as 3/15/1998 and 3/16/1998 and I have been 100% deployed since then without even being able to visit with my family. I have not yet been granted permission to resume my true identity. And there is predictability to the terrorists attacks I have survived to this point.

Major Payne (1995)

Release Date: 24 March 1995 (USA)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Payne

Major Payne

The film starts with Major Payne (Damon Wayans), a hardened killing machine of a Marine, in a drug raid in South America. Payne successfully infiltrates their base of operations, and neutralizes their project. After the mission, he is called into the general's office, and finds out that he was not promoted to a Lieutenant Colonel. "You get two chances to advance, then we gotta show you the hatch". Payne received an honorable discharge on the grounds of "wars of the world are no longer fought on the battlefield", and that his military skill was no longer needed.

After he leaves the military, Payne finds life as a civilian unbearable, and reaches his breaking point, in a scene parodying the opening scene in Apocalypse Now. To help adjust, Payne applies for a job as a Police officer. During the test to see how applicants handled domestic violence diputes, Payne overreacts and repeatedly slaps the man who hit his wife in the scenario, eventually knocking him out. Payne is put into jail on charges that are most likely assault. His former general visits him and informs Payne that he has secured a job for him that will get him back in the military.

Payne arrives at Madison Preparatory School in Virginia. He first meets Tiger (Orlando Brown), who bumps into him when he was running away from school counselor/nurse Emily Walburn (Karyn Parsons), who was trying to give him a shot. The principal informs him that his job is to train the green boys, a disorderly group of delinquents and outcasts, who have placed last in the Virginia Military Games eight years running. When Payne sees his company, he immediately tells them that under his direction they will win the games at all costs. He makes the cadets do pushups, situps, and squat thrusts for their disobedience, and later shaves their heads and makes them do their morning jog around the campus in sundress

Much of the comedy comes from Payne's harsh and sometimes sadistic punishment of the boys, the boys' numerous attempts to get rid of him, and the reluctant bonds he forms with each of the boys as they work toward winning the games. Payne consistently tries to see the boys merely as units in his troop but slowly comes to be a father figure for the boys -- in particularly six-year-old Tiger -- and grows to love Emily, the mother of the troop, who is his polar opposite in their views on childcare. Payne is eventually asked to come back to the Marines to fight in Bosnia, and his conflicting feelings about his old life and new life are the catalyst for the film's finale.

Memorable quotes for
Major Payne (1995)

Emily: [She and Tiger enter Major Payne's office] Apparently he had a little accident.

Major Payne: Apparently he pissed all over the front of his pants.

Emily: Well maybe that's because he's six.

Major Payne: Because he's six? Woman, when I was six years old I had a full time job.

Major Benson Winifred Payne: [Payne has just been informed that the USMC has run out of battles for him to fight, AND has passed him over for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel]
General, are you telling me that nowhere in the military is there any longer a job for trained human weapons of destruction such as myself?

Gen. Decker: Most blood is now shed in the halls of Congress, Payne. Guys like us are becoming dinosaurs.

Major Benson Winifred Payne: General, surely there must be SOMEBODY left who needs some killing, or some killing done for them.

Gen. Decker: Sorry, Major. There's nobody left. You've killed them all.

Emily: [as Payne is hazing the cadets by making them run around the Madison campus in drag] Major, WHAT are the boys doing in those DRESSES?

Major Benson Winifred Payne: Oh, they're just puttin' on a fashion show.

Emily: Do you really think THIS is the best way to gain the respect and admiration of these young men?

Major Benson Winifred Payne: They may not like me, but they WILL respect me.

Emily: Let me be more direct: they HATE you.

Major Benson Winifred Payne: Good. It'll draw 'em close together, make 'em a team.

Emily: That's a very cynical plan!

Major Benson Winifred Payne: Yeah, well at least it won't backfire. Besides, they started it.

Britney Spears’ ‘manny’ is Navy man

Perry Taylor is ‘more of a bodyguard,’ says his mother

Updated: 3:53 p.m. PT June 9, 2006

EASTON, Md. - At the U.S. Naval Academy, Perry Taylor was addressed as “midshipman.” Now, though, he’s known as Perry Poppins.

The 28-year-old Easton native has popped up in supermarket tabloids as the male nanny — or “manny” — for Britney Spears, who has a 9-month-old son, Sean Preston, and is pregnant.

“Actually, he’s more of a bodyguard,” says Taylor’s mother, Caroline Moncure-Taylor, a Washington real estate agent. Moncure-Taylor told The (Baltimore) Sun that Taylor has worked for the 24-year-old pop singer for less than a month.

Radio Address to the Nation on the Trade Bill and the Persian Gulf Conflict

April 23rd, 1988

My fellow Americans:

There's a memorable bit of dialog between Claude Rains and Humphrey Bogart in the movie "Casablanca." Rains, playing the Vichy French police inspector, asked Bogart why he came to Casablanca; and Bogart says it was for "the waters." "But this is the desert," replies Rains, "there are no waters here." And Bogart, unflappable as ever, responds, "I was misinformed."

Now, I'd like to turn for a moment to events this past week in the Persian Gulf. The actions that our forces took in the Gulf were a measured response to Iran's resumption of mine-laying and continued aggression against nonbelligerents. We have completed these self-defense actions and consider this incident closed.

I am extremely proud of the courage and resourcefulness of our military personnel in the Persian Gulf. Their performance under very difficult circumstances has been superb. We're also very pleased with the role that the European allies are playing in a cooperative effort to counter the Iranian mining threat and to help protect freedom of navigation. Such cooperative efforts, supported by our Gulf Arab friends, offer the best means of deterring Iran and enhancing Gulf security. Working together, we can also put new life into the U.N. Security Council's efforts to end the increasingly bloody, inhumane Iran-Iraq war and remove the root cause of tensions in the Gulf. Our role in this war is neutral, and we do not seek to confront Iran. However, its leaders must understand that continued military and terrorist attacks against nonbelligerents and refusal to negotiate an end to the war will be very costly to Iran and its people.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play_It_Again_Sam

"Play it again, Sam" is also a (mis)quote from the movie Casablanca, though in fact none of the characters ever say that exact line. The quote is "Play it once, Sam."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casablanca_%28film%29

Casablanca is an Oscar-winning 1942 romance film set in the Vichy-controlled Moroccan city of Casablanca. The film was directed by Michael Curtiz and stars Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blaine and Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa Lund. It focuses on Rick's conflict between, in the words of one character, love and virtue: he must choose between his love for Ilsa and doing the right thing, helping her and her Resistance leader husband escape from Casablanca to continue his fight against the Nazis.

"War is the H-Word" is episode seventeen in season two of Futurama. It originally aired in North America on November 26, 2000.

The troops are deployed to Spheron I and discover that the enemy is a race of sentient spherical creatures. Fry is told to hold back an assault while his fellow soldiers recharge their weapons by turning a crank that plays Pop Goes the Weasel. When the enemy charges, Fry blows a hole in the ground with his weapon and hides in it while his squad is decimated. Bender opens his chest plate and throws himself on a bomb, absorbing the explosion. After the battle, Brannigan sentences Fry to become Kif’s assistant while Bender, now a hero, is treated at a field hospital.

I can still "remember" seeing this movie when it premiered. I thought it was going to be about the USS Arizona from Pearl Harbor, as in something about salvaging the battleship. That notion is reinforced by the initials of the star character Nicholas Cage portrays, in that HI is the postal abbreviation for Hawaii.

Parole Board chairman: They've got a name for people like you H.I. That name is called "recidivism."

Parole Board member: Repeat offender!

Parole Board chairman: Not a pretty name, is it H.I.?

H.I.: No, sir. That's one bonehead name, but that ain't me any more.

Parole Board chairman: You're not just telling us what we want to hear?

H.I.: No, sir, no way.

Parole Board member: 'Cause we just want to hear the truth.

H.I.: Well, then I guess I am telling you what you want to hear.

Parole Board chairman: Boy, didn't we just tell you not to do that?

H.I.: Yes, sir.

Parole Board chairman: Okay, then.
