That reminds me of something I said to Vince Maraia at Microsoft in February 2002. I told him that I had been feeling something like invincibility until I had that second bicycle accident on 2/1/02 and hit my head. He said something in response that suggests to me he knows who I really was but he said that I should be feeling invincible.
Had a vivid dream a few hours ago. The was several of us in training to rescue a hostage from a large group of armed men. The part I remember the most was of some kind of parachute training where I jumped off a tall building. I was wearing the khaki uniform of a U.S. Navy officer. I think Mogge was the guy I remember getting medical training. I didn’t really expect we were going to get the guy out alive but that was our objective.

Today I find myself thinking back to when I was 14 years old and I was following the Iranian Hostage Crisis of 1980. I remember thinking back, and this seems kind of odd for a 14 year old, how I wish they would let them go home. It seems odd because I wonder how old a person is before they develop a sense of empathy. Most of all, I felt bad for the uniformed military for reasons I won't get into now. I also find myself thinking today of how I feel something in common with them, in that I feel like I am a hostage of people that are politically motivated, I feel also like I am wearing a blindfold. This analogy also clarifies how I feel about the media presence I sense. They are spectators, observers to my captivity.

The four members of the British hit band, the Beatles, have arrived in New York at the start of their first tour of the United States.
The young men, with their now infamous mop-head hairstyles, stepped onto the tarmac at Kennedy Airport just after 1300 local time.
There were more than 3,000 screaming teenagers at the airport. Many had skipped school or work. Some were in tears and some were carrying placards with phrases such as "I love you, please stay".

WASHINGTON — The Senate [ RACKETEER INFLUENCED AND CORRUPT ORGANIZATIONS US Title 18 ] yesterday confirmed Alberto Gonzales as the first Hispanic attorney general, ending a bitter, three-day debate that focused on his controversial role in pushing the legal limits on the treatment of prisoners.
The Senate voted 60-36 to confirm Gonzales, President Bush's longtime friend and White House counsel, to succeed John Ashcroft as attorney general. Vice President Dick Cheney swore Gonzales in shortly before 6 p.m. at the White House.

WASHINGTON - President Bush nominated Judge Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court today.
Thomas was at Bush's side when the president announced the nomination today at a press conference in Kennebunkport, Maine, where the president is vacationing.
"What I did was look for the best man," said Bush to questions about whether he purposefully sought a black candidate to replace outgoing Justice Thurgood Marshall, the high court's only black member.
"The fact that he was black and a minority has nothing to do with that," Bush said.
