Severance is an American science fiction psychological thriller television series created by Dan Erickson, and executive produced and primarily directed by Ben Stiller.
The series follows employees at Lumon Industries, a sinister biotechnology corporation, that have undergone "severance"—a procedure that splits a person's memories between work and their personal life. This creates two separate identities for employees: the "innie", who has no knowledge of the outside world, and the "outie", who lives their life outside without any knowledge of their job.
Erickson and Stiller first developed Severance in 2015, with the series being greenlit by Apple TV in 2019

Summer of 1985. Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
My ship was newly constructed and commissioned in December 1984. We left the shipyards in Maine and arrived for the first time in our homeport Charleston, South Carolina. We were at sea a lot in year 1985 and in summer 1985 we were in shakedown for that newest warship and that happened in Gitmo.
I was still working for the Boatswain's on the ship.
Cheating was farthest from my mind on anything.
"You're still ugly". That was the response from a kid years earlier during my school organized football practice. Moments earlier I was criticizing him for cheating when the coach was not looking at us as he called out repetitions during weight-lifting training. Only reason I liked being on the football team was the weight-lifting. It was always well organized and I enjoyed seeing my improvements over time.
Gitmo was a great liberty-port. We were at sea for shakedown over a period of time and sometimes we returned to the US Navy base there on that big beautiful bay from the ocean. They did not sell cold beer at the base store. So drinking warm and old Budweiser in cans was not very fun, too impatient to wait for it to chill in the ice-chest.
One day, several of us on liberty took off from the ship and towards the marina on the base there for US Navy where they rented power-boats. On a previous liberty excursion we rented on the Boston Whaler type of power boat. This next time over there on libery, along with the small power boats, someone wanted to rent two pontoon boats and they wanted me to rent one of those from the marina. The difference was it required an examination and there was a study guide for it. Don't worry, one guy said, we will tell you the answers. The shop operator let me sit outside on a bench and complete the exam.
I was still 19 years old at the time. Place was a lot of fun for liberty. Plenty of hard work at sea.
This was well over a year before 11/4/1986
I had never in my life inhaled marijuana or any sort of narcotics for recreation.
