Back in 1997 and 1998 I still largely had a full head of hair, although as I vaguely recall, I was aware in 1997 that my hair was exhibiting signs of male pattern baldness. In the year 2000, I gave up on the wishful thinking that it would just miraculously start regrowing overnight and I decided to start going with the bald look and the male pattern baldness has squarely taken affect now and for many of the past years since then.
I noted earlier that the racketeering organization Ironman corporation assigned me the race number 878 during that Ironman triathlon in 2004.
I sure do miss being in that kind of physical condition. I only completed that race course with about forty minutes to spare and I walked most of the running course but still that is a tremendous amount of distance to cover in seventeen hours. Just swimming for 2.4 miles is quite an accomplishment. Especially considering that I hardly even trained for that part. I was swimming in a 25 yard pool but I wasn't training very hard at it. I would swim 25 yards down to the other end and then I would rest for a while, much more time that I spent swimming that 25 yards, and then I would swim down 25 yards and then rest for a while. I also did not kick my feet during that 2.4 mile swim course. That was all covered by the strength of my shoulders and arms. I forget now the time it took me to cover that 2.4 miles swim distance. 100 minutes? I don't recall. I wasn't in any real danger of not completing the swim course before the cut off time but I also wasn't speeding my way through it. I don't recall for certain but I think I finished in last place for the swim course for my age group for those of us that completed the swim course. I don't think you can really appreciate how far 2.4 miles is until you try to swim that distance.
So anyway, for some reason, I wanted to note again here that website that took the photos of us on that Ironman triathlon course. I never did purchase any of these photos. I wish I could get back to the point of at least jogging on a regular basis.
